A heartwarming dinner with our great neighbours and it was my first visit to this famed Thai kitchen in Tai Po.
We started the sumptuous meal with garlic bread that was warmly toasted. Two dishes needed ordering in advance; the crab curry in a bread container was unique and very rich, whereas the roast pig was also very good with crispy skin and the pork was guiltily tasty with roasted fat. The satay was excellent, likely because the meat was very fresh. The prawn cake was of average standards, so were the stir fry spinach and the ox tail in red wine sauce (slightly sour with a hint of tomatoes). The papaya salad (with two chillis) were too hot and spicy for my taste (though others appeared unaffected), and the cooling green coconut drink was a great remedy.
To conclude, this was authentic Thai cuisine at a most reasonable price; considering we ordered drinks and beers and the portions were so generous that we had to take home doggy bags, it was a pleasant surprise when the bill amounted to under $275 per head. The location might be an issue though if one didn't drive.
