I never really liked dining in Macau hotels, over the years it feels like they're more or less the same, offering the same service, decor, food that doesn't really distinguish each hotel brand and elements against another. So when I really wanted to treat myself to exquisite cake and tea this afternoon, I was scratching my head thinking where to get it. Since I was near The Ritz, thought might as well check it out. When I entered, it definitely felt like I've entered into some cafe in Europe (ve
They served the France tea brand Palais des thé, signature "Thé des Lords" (which is earl grey & one of my fav), so I ordered and got down to cake business. It's not a wide range, but a decent one with cakes (mainly French type like canale, madaline) tarts, macarons. Warning: the taste I felt were quite authentic with what you can get in France, so anyone not accustomed to eating western sweets, do beware of palate dislikes.
They've got some savory food like sandwich, croissant. But it's overshadowed by the elaborate dessert bench sitting in the middle of the place.
Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised and definitely will be back again, it's a break from all the people, mono-styled food and mono-type environment I feel are offered by hotels in Macau now. Really hope they can keep the authentic French theme, menu, style and food taste. It's definitely a place more preferred by westerners over Asians (mostly I guess of palate difference; and very evident when I was there).
