TST Finally has an authentic Mexican spot
Tequila Mex
2025-05-01
The food was impeccable, and refreshingly authentic. These are the dishes we tried:Calamari: 8.5/10, prefer a crispier breading but the squid was soooo tender!Chicken Loaded Nachos: 10/10 no complaints. The toppings cheese and chicken covered every chipVeggies Quesadilla: 8.5/10 - best way to get your veggies in tbh. Cheese guac salsa and sour cream, plus that toasty tortillaBaja Fish Taco: 8/10 - not your classic Baja fish, since it had a breadcrumb crust, but wow, so packed with flavor. Don't skimp on that hot sauce…Read More

Great hidden gem
THE GLOBE
2025-04-08
I recently visited The Globe on a Tuesday for their quiz night, which was a lot of fun! After living in Hong Kong for years, I was surprised by how spacious and lively the place felt. We ordered a cheeseburger, halloumi fries, prawn toast, and fish and chips with mushy peas. Everything we tried was tasty, and the service was excellent. Plus, the gin and tonics were really good! The CNY-themed trivia was entertaining, even though we ended up in last place.Overall, it's a great spot for a weeknight hangout or a weekend with friends. Definitely check it out!…Read More

Best Deal in Town
Wingman (閣麟街)
2024-09-27
We all get that sudden urge to just eat wings for dinner, and with wings, variety is key (am I right?) 🍗I was so happy to hear about Wingman's deal for 90 minutes of free flow wings in 10 flavors for just HK$188 from Monday - Thursday, and just HK$208 from Friday - Sunday! I swear that is such a steal! P.S. this also includes free flow soft drinks and iced lemon tea! 🥤Here are all the flavors ranked in my order of preference (starting with the most liked one):🇹🇭 Thai Sweet Chilli🍋 Lemon Pepper🧄 Ranch🐮 Buffalo🧀 Cali Style☕️ Espresso BBQ🫚 Hoisin Glaze🌶️ Cajun Spice🍖 Mongolian Bbq🌶️🌶️ They even have a spicy Carolina reaper that we didn’t try! 😂P.S. if you’re looking to add on free flow alcoholic drinks, you can do that for an additional HK$150!…Read More

Solo Date or Any Date Pick
Santorini Greek Restaurant
2024-09-23
Come with me on a solo dinner date to this beautiful Greek restaurant, which I wish I had tried earlier on in life! Because how is this just my first time?!? I ordered 2 starters - the Greek dolma (vine leaves stuffed with rice and served with a yogurt sauce), and Loukaniko (the smokiest grilled sausage that was insanely good!) For mains, I want the classic route. The chicken and pork souvlaki platter. I kid you not, the pork skewer was the most tender meat I ever had, and the pita, chips, and dips went amazing with it. It was just a full comfort meal! No girl dinner is complete without dessert. And this was easily the standout of my entire meal! Crispy layers of filo was stuffed with a beautiful semolina custard, and served fresh and HOT. The semolina gave the custard a fine grainy texture that went perfectly with the flaky filo. Also, the dessert was not too sweet, just perfectly balanced. I love hot cold desserts so some ice cream on top and I swear I’d eat it everyday!Guys, don’t miss out on this gem!…Read More

Best Ambiance and French - Chinese Fusion Menu
Maison ES
2024-03-13
I’m done gate keeping! This restaurant is the true definition of hidden gem! Maison Es is a vintage French restaurant, tucked away on star street in wan chai. Its location embodies what it is - a haven of food culinary excellence, experiences, and hospitality.I had the pleasure of being invited to try their new menu - an ode to China, and all its 8 geographic locations that define the diverse yet interconnected cuisine that it is. From the beautiful amuse bouche, right down to dessert, every element of our experience stunned. There was such a rich concentration of flavour within refined French cooking techniques - I really think they hit the “fusion” aspect right on the bulls eye. My favourite dishes were the scallops in a sour and spicy soup - an upscale version of the pickled fish soup. I also loved the charred scallion abalone with the jus packing a punch of flavour. As I’m getting older, my stomach is also getting sensitive to certain dishes, and they accommodated just no dairy and potatoes requirement so well. My main was switched to a beautiful chicken dish with a Sichuan and spicy hint that elevated it. But if you’re not allergic, their on menu Langoustine Pithivier is definitely unmissable.100% recommended!…Read More

Best new find of the month!
Nocino (銅鑼灣道)
2024-02-29
I was having dinner with my flatmate, and she mentioned she’s been wanting to try this restaurant in tai hang for a while, but it’s been booked out, and that she finally got a booking for April. Little did I know she was talking about Nocino; AND that I was actually headed there pretty much the day after for a fantastic meal to come!Nocino is a homely, rustic, and awesome Swiss Italian restaurant, that just makes me wonder why such a concept hasn’t existed before! The hospitality is so heartwarming; if you know me, you know I love picking up conversations with people, and here I got the perfect chance to!These were my absolute standout favorites from the meal:- Beef Tartare - with crispy potatoes and creamy aioli: I don’t normally go for beef dishes but I’d heard so much about this one, I had to try it! 10/10 awesome and so good, a textural balanced masterpiece!- Gruyère Malakoff - basically a fried ball (croquette) of fondue cheese. I don’t need to say much about this, if you love cheese, you’ll be obsessed with this one!- Brown crab Cacio e Pepe - never thought messing with a classic would give such great results, plusss their pasta is handmade- Tiramisu - held so well and just perfectly balanced. One of the better tiramisus I’ve had in HKSuch a great experience, and awesome meal. Plus they have such a value for money lunch deal starting at just $148 for 2 courses - WHUTTT 😱…Read More

Amazing Burger
KIN x Good Burger
2024-02-02
Burgers that are good for you! The burgers and food here is sourced for organic free-range chicken and sustainably farmed fish. They have tons of vegan options which I love! As a person on a dairy free diet, I was able to eat here well. This is what all we had.1. Double cheeseburger set: with the juiciest beef patty, cheese, sauce enclosed in a bun. So yummy2. Vegan double cheeseburger: the above, but vegan. Everything from the patty, to the bun, and even the cheese was vegan which was pretty impressive. 3. Good fish burger: IDK about you, but I love fish burgers, and this was pretty fire! Crispy, not too oily, with a beautiful aioli and so flavorful. We also had their chicken nuggets, peanut butter vanilla shake, fries, sodas and Matchali! Yesss, they have Matchali- my fave place to grab a matcha from. It’s a super cool looking spot that catches your eye too - right next to Samsen. Overall a great experience!…Read More

Best clam laksa pasta and chai latte
Cafe Pawsitive
2023-12-14
Loved every minute of my experience here. The food was great, and so was the service. The clam laksa was unbelievable, with a strong aromatic taste, but also a richness in the pasta. Also since its winters the chai latte was great, like a cinnamon winter hug. They also have. Fancy looking cold brew TEA in a champagne glass that is so refreshing. For seafood lovers, they have a loaded pasta with prawns lobster and more, and some tomato to tie it all together. Also their chiffon tea cakes are beautiful. So soft fluffy and light, with the perfect concentration of tea. The pandan egg waffle is also another must try. The team is super sweet, and service is great!Bonus! It’s dog friendly. A must visit in my experience, and an underrated gem!…Read More

Nice Japanese food
Hungry Izakaya
2023-12-13
When you miss Japan, but find cherry blossoms in Hong Kong 💗🌳🇯🇵 Hungry Izakaya got you covered with all the essentials you need for a nostalgic trip down memory lane (Japan edition). We had the pork belly bites, pork soup hotpot, smoked salmon salad, and the grilled fish! The pork bites were so yummy! They were like bites you could have for a midnight snack. The grilled fish was of dreams. It was nice and smoky. Do you know they also have skewers. The hotpot - we got pork, is perfect for the cooling weather. They have so much variety, and needless to say, the cherry blossom tree is a godsend!! So pretty!📍 Hungry Izakaya, 440 Portland St, Mongkok💰 200-400 pp…Read More

New Pork Floss Series
BreadTalk (Fitfort)
2023-06-15
Their newest line of Pork Floss products is pantry gold for lovers of all things umami! I sampled their limited edition pork floss, & coconut buns, as well as their original and spicy bottled floss, and homemade Pandan Coconut Kaya spread - a delicious South-East Asian jam. While the buns lacked a certain creaminess or filling to prevent them from drying out, the savoury floss and sweet buttery kaya made up for it (seriously - kaya on pork floss buns is a game changer - don't hate it until you try it!). Although I never grew up eating pork floss and such, with a stash of these items in my pantry, I now have endless ways to oomph my simple (and sometimes boring) dishes. It's also perfect for those wanting to explore this quintessentially Hong Kong snack and all its umami-packed goodness on their own terms.P.S. This set also makes a great (and wallet-friendly) gift for all occasions!…Read More

MUST MUST TRY! Best food, cocktails, and service!
JJJ Korean Steakhouse & Bar
2023-04-05
Located in the heart of Central, JJJ offers an unforgettable dining experience, combining premium ingredients with Korean cuisine for a sizzling steakhouse journey. From the moment you enter, the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the restaurant - be it the impressive wine cabinets or the dry-aged cuts of beef gracing the menu. The layout of the restaurant features different sections, & the overall vibe speaks of refinement & elegance. We tried several dishes. The beef tartare was a highlight, prepared tableside by our skilled server. A generous amount of freshly shaved Parmesan and egg yolk set the tone for the rest of the meal. For meat lovers, the JJJ Premium Butcher's cuts are a must-try, featuring USDA prime 45-day dry-aged ribeye, two chef-selected cuts, and a house-marinated galbi. Each cut is grilled to perfection and served with a spicy soybean Korean paste and all the sides. The galbi was my personal favourite, marinated just-right in pear juice, soy sauce, & honey. Next, the beef rice with bone marrow impressed us. Our server scraped the marrow tableside and mixed it with the rice, fried garlic, and beef, creating a comforting and satisfying dish.Apart from the food, the cocktails at JJJ Korean Steakhouse were just as impressive. We tried several, including The Hulk, made with absinthe, vanilla, and lime, and The Highball made with bourbon, pandan, and soda. My friend tried the umeshu with whiskey, plum, and Campari, and the Oldie with bourbon, beef fat, and orange. All were packed with flavor. In conclusion, JJJ Korean Steakhouse offers a dining experience that is second to none. From the showmanship of tableside preparation, to the exquisite flavors of the meat, sides, desserts, & stunning cocktails - each element is undoubtedly impressive. Trust me when I say you won't regret trying.…Read More

Best Izakaya in town!
Nanbantei
2023-04-05
I recently discovered Nanbantei of Tokyo. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a unique and exciting experience. The ambiance was buzzing with energy, the aroma of grilled skewers wafting through the air.To start, I enjoyed a crisp and refreshing pint of Asahi beer, perfectly poured and chilled to perfection. The skewers soon began to arrive at the table, each one showcasing the simplicity and true essence of Japanese cuisine. The aspara maki was juicy and flavorful, the lychee-wrapped pork was a delightful blend of sweet and savory, and the honetsuki furanku was absolutely mouthwatering. The grilled zucchini topped with cheese was also a pleasant surprise and a new favorite of mine.As I nibbled on the irresistible edamame and crab cream, I couldn't help but soak in the authentic izakaya experience. The warm ambiance, delicious food, and friendly staff made for the perfect night out with friends. If you're looking for a spot to relax and unwind, Nanbantei of Tokyo is a must-visit. The simple yet rustic charm of this hidden gem will transport you straight to the heart of Japan. …Read More

Great Authentic Taiwanese food and nice ambience
Chan.Taiwan Cuisine
2023-02-27
Craving for something good? 🤤 Look no further than Chán·Taiwan Cuisine! This spot serves up bold neon vibes that are as electric as the flavors in every dish. The food at Chán·Taiwan Cuisine is a true feast for the senses 🍴. The sesame oil chicken noodle soup is the perfect comfort food, with its warm broth and tender chicken. However, be prepared for a generous amount of bones in the chicken; albeit a small trade-off for the delicious flavor. 🐔 The crispy popcorn chicken is a must-try too, especially for those who love rice and Taiwanese popcorn chicken 🍗. The combination of juicy meat and crunchy exterior with a sweet and sticky sauce and fragrant rice is a match made in heaven. The Tainan shrimp rolls were the perfect appetizer, with their light and flaky exterior, filled with a savory mixture of shrimp and spices 🍤.The drinks at Chán·Taiwan Cuisine are equally impressive 🍹. The classic bubble tea is a nod to its Taiwanese roots, and no one does it better than Taiwan, its birthplace 🇹🇼. The bubble tea is presented in a mug, freshly made and mixed in front of you, making it a refreshing escape from the pre-packaged plastic bottles and cups you might get elsewhere in Hong Kong (no hate, just some extra appreciation) 😊. The mango Cheezo is a delicious twist on the traditional cheese tea, with a kick of mango and a thick foam-like an Asian malted milkshake 🧀.…Read More

Great food!
A hidden gem
Bro's Cuisine
2023-02-13
Hidden away in an industrial building in Kwun Tong, bros cuisine is a little gem just waiting to be discovered! On a weekday, this restaurant was packed with foodies, and for good reason.Starting with the main dishes, the Herbs Cheese Butter Chicken was cooked to perfection, with a rich and buttery sauce that had a delightful cheese-butter texture and flavor. The juicy and tender chicken combined with the decadent sauce made for an unforgettable dish. The Hormone-Free Chicken Lasagna was packed with flavor, but could've been a bit warmer. Despite that, the flavorful and aromatic herbs in the dish were a delightful surprise. The Handmade Pizza with Parma Ham was a symphony of flavors, with a crispy crust and generous toppings. Although a slightly thicker crust would've been preferred, the pizza was still delicious. And now, onto the desserts. The warm and gooey Chocolate Lava Cake was a true standout, with a rich and decadent chocolate center that flowed out upon cutting into the cake. The cake was paired perfectly with the creamy milk vanilla ice cream, creating a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. The Pistachio Bucket Cake was another creamy delight, with layers of pistachio crema and sponge cake. Every bite was a burst of nutty and sweet flavors that were perfectly balanced.…Read More
