Good but overpriced burger

have read about this butcher's place on magazine several times (their aberdeen store) but never able to spare time to go there. To my surprise, they have opened up a branch burger shop in wanchai and so it is a `must` visit to burger fan like me in particular this shop is so close to my office.we arrived at 8pm and this place was already full house. we were fortunately to sit near the bar table and get to watch the chef preparing the burger.it took about 10 minutes for our burgers and fries arrived. The burger looked very delicious to us in particular the buns were not the traditional ones with sesame on top. As we picked up the burgers, we were kind of surprise that the buns were only at room temperature. The meat patties were cooked to medium well that keeps the burger really juicy. Besides that the buns were at room temperature, everything including the atmosphere were excellent.If theburgers were not charged for $100, i will definitely come more frequently.…查看更多

Good Food but Services need to Improve

自從greyhound兩年前登陸香港,已很想幫襯重拾在曼谷時的風韻,奈何每次也是大排長龍,幸好今日路经太古城新開的分店人龍不是太誇張,终於用了三十分鐘就等到有座位。上座後看了看餐牌後就点了一客招牌雞翼,香草意粉,迷你漢堡和柚子沙律。招牌雞翼跟我之前在泰國吃的一樣是單骨的。小小辣,多多脆,鲜味無比。柚子沙律用上鮮柚生菜加上意想不到的脆炸銀魚,一啖甜加一啖咸脆,出奇地擦出火花。香草意粉奶油香草味balance,意粉不太硬,很貼合香港人的口味。反之漢堡相對比較普通。總括而言,這裡的食物質數被高,唯獨是服務有待改善。我們order了近半小時才有侍應告知我們原來未落單,order了兩杯水足足order了三次才送到。埋單也是三吹四請下才埋到。…查看更多

I am a real pancake fan. As I read from the magazine that this shop has the japanese style pancake, I quickly rushed to this place after work.Hung and I ordered this pancake for sharing. Besides the pancake, this set comes with 2 cups of drinks. I ordered a latte for myself; meanwhile, hung ordered an english tea himself.The latte came first as the pancake needed time for baking. I was amazed that this shop did a little bit of a latte art. The latte was quite strong with long aftertaste. It would be a good fit if I drink it in the morning time.The pancake came in approx. 12 mins after I placed my order. The appearance is really attractive as the deep pancake was decorated with strawberry and almond flakes on top. The pancake was rich in butter and egg flavor. The outer part of it was not as crusty as it was described on the magazine. The pancake was baked rather than grilled; however, cannot tell much difference between the two methods. A not so special specialty coffee shop

Read from magazine that this is a specialty chain coffee shop from russia. And so I kind of have high expectation to see what russian's coffee is like.Before I entered the shop, i was deeply attracted by all those coffee assessories displayed near the window. This shop also roasted their coffee beans. But by looking at the volume of the bags they displayed, I wondered if they are just like normal US chain coffee shops where freshness of beans is not in top priority.I ordered a latte for take away as I was in rush for a meeting. When I placed my order, the barista told me that their latte was in more in a milky flavor. In other words, their coffee is not strong enough??I didn't watched how the barista prepared my latte as I need to head to a washroom and by the time I came out, my latte was already waiting for me. On my way out, I was curious to see how the milk texture was like and so I opened up the lid. To my surprise, the latte was prepared in a similar way as Caffe Kenon in which the milk was first poured in the cup followed by my espresso. I was in deep disappointment that there was no latte art which could at least stood out from those normal chain coffee shop in hong kong.In regards of its flavor, as the barista has said previously, the coffee tasted just like milk. 今日經過銅鑼灣廣埸,發現baby cafe不見了,換之而來的是一間叫牛一的曰式放題。難得今日早收工,一於同馬田兄入去吃個痛快。本想經濟一點吃個$168特級美國肥牛,但侍應姐姐说那個特級日本和牛好食得多,於是就顺應叫來試試。這裹除了牛肉是由侍應serve之外,其他食物以及飲料全是self service。因我一心為了食牛,所以我只取了一些菜和丸類食品。菜和肉丸類配菜基本上是大路的水準,無什好評,值得一讚的是這裏的和牛,貨真價實,入口即溶,牛味鮮明,不是一般冒牌和牛可比。湯底方面,我們選了番茄湯。打完邊邊喝一囗清湯寧舍清甜。PS這裏人流不多,希望店主加強傳不致太過冷清。 …查看更多

一連數天到沙田出trip。多得老友賢哥的介紹,找到這間平靚正的隱世茶餐廳。說是茶餐廳,但裝修和寬敞的坐位又一点都不茶餐廳feel。反之格局raw得來又帶有濃厚indie feel。回說食物,一連數天食了不同的套餐。肥牛矮瓜飯-認真大碟夾抵食。肥牛不靭,配上汁多鲜甜的矮瓜,大大提升我的食肉,連同枱的女同事也把整碟吃落肚子。唯一美中不足的是饭不夠熱。牛腩麵-聞說這蔑最出名的是麵當然要一試。麵質夠爽口,湯的濃度恰當。牛腩稍嫌不夠腍。京都骨飯-酸甜度適中,大啖大啖肉。但又是白飯不夠熱。這店的套餐一般四十有找。喜歡value for money的朋友一定要來試試。PS這店的天花部份放上黑膠唱片的封套,其中一張竟是我的致愛-raidas!不知店主會否割愛? …查看更多

看完某雜誌的推介,得知Motorino曾獲纽约時報食評家推介選的最佳薄餅,立即飛車過來一試。此店是一間裝修得極之有格調的pizza店,紅紅的磚牆,配上磁磚天花,raw得嚟又帶点grand。最煞食的可算是那用磗砌出來的pizza焗爐,跟連锁薄餅店的規格高出幾班。此店的店員也值一讚,一進店內,店員即熱情的款待。店員向我推介這裏的meatball pizza,雖餐牌上没列上,但見是強烈推介,我想也不用想就order了。除pizza外,我也叫了一客不記得起名字的肉腸。食評說回主題。此店的食物水平。頭盤的不知名腸賣相和味道相當不錯,但欠缺驚喜,食得出是靚腸的味道。主打的pizza卻真的教我驚?到彈喜。雜誌說此店pizza批邊焗得特別黑以帶出脆囗感是拿坡里的特點,實情是此批邊焗得過燶之餘又不特別鬆脆。最教我驚奇的是此批皮似足印度薄餅,這批基本上是把肉丸放上印度薄餅然後加以放入焗爐加点焦燻效果。人人的囗味不一致。我個人還是比較鐘意脆批底的pizza多一点。 …查看更多

I am glad to see this place opened their branch store in causewaybay so that I don't have to go all the way to central to have good waffle.I arrived a little bit early for movie in JP and so i decided to have a lunch before the movie. The restaurants in here mostly were empty (perhaps it was still too early) but this place was already half full of people.We ordered a steak breakfast, spaghettic bolognaisse and a blue berry waffle. The spaghetti came first even though it was a baked dish. I have to say I somehow became a bit picky these days and even though the taste of it was ok, i gave it a rating of average only. The cheese was well melted with the meat sauce, but somehow I just don't feel the passion from the cook making the dish. The steak breakfast was really a big disappointment. Again, nothing wrong with the taste, but the steak just tasted like the one they served in Cafe de Coral. It simply downgrade the overall impression I have for this place. Moreover, talking about the poached egg, it looks nice and round. But to be picky, it wasn't a poached egg, it was merely a soft boil eggs without the eggshell. Egg yolk was runny, but it was only slightly warm. The fried potatoes tasted the best among this dish.Lastly, it came my waffle. It was by far the best waffle I have ever had! Usually waffle only tasted good if you dip it inside the maple syrup. But this one, you can actually eat it without dipping it into the syrup as the waffle itself is already sweet enough. 很久沒上過times square十三樓,見到這間店子還未排長龍,决定進去一試。我們雖兩囗子,但都叫了以下的餸菜:豬頸肉青木瓜沙律平時去泰國餐館一定會叫一客,見這越南菜館也有這道菜式,一於點來試試看。青木瓜出奇地乾而冇味,要落大量魚露才食得落囗。生牛肉可粉越南菜必點之選。牛肉香嫩鮮甜,粉滑彈牙,值得推介。蒸銀雪魚銀雪魚基本上落少少牛油煎香已無械可擊,賣相佳,色香味皆全。雞肉串燒不知怎講,只覺很熱氣。味道一般。越南咖啡賣相特別,全程望着怎樣滴漏。練奶早在柸底。咖啡滴完攪拌就喝。這趟是我第一次喝越式叻咖啡,不知是否咖啡問題,總覺練奶跟咖啡不夾,加上咖啡本身只喝到苦澀味 ,這咖啡只能給我視覺上的享受。總括而言,食物的賣相比味道吸引。…查看更多

A high end version of Starbucks

Man, when Holly Brown first launched in Hong Kong, it gave me an image of a place with high quality of coffee. Remembered the big roasters they put in Stanley store and all those amazing latte art on the coffee?? Well, I happened to drop by Tsim Sha Tsui this evening. I passed by Illy but I didn't dare to go inside as I am a strong believer that only fresh roasted coffee taste good. So I decided to take another 2 min walk to Holly Brown and hoping to get a decent cup of coffee. I ordered my coffee and stand there waiting for it. I saw the barista has three orders  in hand but he was only chatting with his colleague from time to time and it took that genius to make three cups of coffee in 10 minutes. 10 minutes? No kidding. He was only concentrated in chatting with his colleague and don't give a damn about customers making for the coffee!My latte finally came. As Holly Brown was known to have one of the best latte art in the industry (at least before as i recalled in my memory), I was shocked when my coffee arrived! The barista did not have poor sense of customer service, he doesn't know a single bit about making coffee. The bubbles are large and the latte art is a complete disaster. If you don't know how to do it properly, you might as well serve it the way Starbucks does. Although Starbucks does not have latte art, the barista knows how to differentiate what a latte is and what a cappuccino is. The foam on my coffee was about 20mm thick. I saw him made two lattes before my order and the foam was perfectly at 10mm. What the heck??Besides about the appearance, the coffee only tasted bitter and hot. I saw they put up a sign saying that if the milk reaches over 70, the texture will break down or something like that. But my coffee was definitely over 70!I have a little suggestion for this shop. If the barista cannot control the foam at the right amount, they better serve the coffee in a cup that is not transparent. There is no need to pretend to be a specialty coffee shop if you don't have proper barista. Moreover, don't charge the coffee at a high price. 友人話德成號的蛋卷天下無雙,蛋卷鬆脆c蛋味香濃蛋卷髮鬆脆,蛋味香濃,絕不預提供電話訂購,想食的話一定要親身排隊。加上每日限賣四百磅,每日吸引過百市民排隊購買。今早我趁週六不用上班,一於决定親身探訪這民間老店。時值八時,距開店是時間還有一個半小時。,已有二十多人在店外等候我心不其然暗付香港竟有這麽多人喜愛蛋卷。店舖九時三十多分開始顧客引進店內買購物,到我的時候我才聽到今日没有椰汁蛋卷,天呀,這可是我在進排隊時前面的那兩個c9極力推介的產品。oh well,唯有退而求其次買一盒家鄉和一盒牛油蛋卷回家品嚐。當晚回家抱着其大的期望吃這蛋卷。但味道卻跟想像中有着極大差距。首先蛋味比一般在超市還少,蛋卷也一點不鬆脆,:(一點不似是新鮮制造,人龍追尋的是懷舊味道還是這批蛋卷失了手就無從稽考,但可以肯定的是這樣的水準吸引不到我再次幫襯。,…查看更多

Arrived at around 10:30 am and the place was half empty. I asked the waiter whether there is a table for 4 people and it took them 5 minutes to figure out whether there is any empty table.Three of us have ordered egg benedicts while the remaining one decided to go for a french toast. The egg benedicts were the average ones you can have on other many restaurants (from the look and the taste). The hollandise sauce is buttery taste with a hint of lemon. However, one of my friend said that the toast tasted bitter. When we flipped over his toast, omg, no wonder it tasted bitter, it was burnt!  I really want to know why a chef would still serve this toast out as he obvious know it is burnt. Well, we made our complaint and the server was extremely generous as she offered to give us a whole new egg benedict for compensation.The french toast on the other hand also look very ordinary. If they did not set the price so high, I would have no complaint on this at all as it tasted like the one in those chinese fast food restaurant. …查看更多

read about this place from magazine and decided to give it a try . i arrived at eight and it was full house already. I ordered a cheeseburger and nothing else considered that i still have to go home for dinner.I've spent about 10minutes at the queue even though there were only two people in front of me. it seems that the lady responsible for taking order couldn't do her job properly as she needs to repeat the customers' order many times before she got it right.After i placed my order, i waited for 5? minutes and the server called me out for pick up. The first impression i got from this burger was that it is very very plain. The bun is thin, and the patty is even thinner! Considering its thickness, i am kind of disappointed that the patty was kind of burnt and that makes it tasted a bit crunchy. This reminds me of the burger i had in Fatburger 10years ago!Regarding the taste, my only compliments were that the vegetables were fresh. Nothing excited me to come back again. 很久沒寫食評。不是我很久沒外出吃飯,只是吃的都是一些平平無其的食店,不像這店般值得推介。 前天看港姐總决賽,陳凱琳的外貌教我知道甚麼叫驚為人天的感覺。想不到闊別兩天,這感覺再一次重現我的腦海。說的不是這裏有着一個長得跟陳凱琳一樣的 侍應,記說的是這店暂未名震江湖的加拿大特厚 豬扒。以往我說話總帶一點浮誇。可是看過這裏的豬扒賣相你就會認同我的說法。起初我是被門口餐牌上的漢堡吸引進來,但當看到 鄰枱的豬扒餐,我也立即轉軚叫埋一份。 雖說這是小店,可是這裏的餐具以及員工上的制服可說一絲不苟。員工制服上印上店舖的logo,最想 不到的是連承載豬扒上的木盤也印上logo,另人不其然覺得這真的只是坐落於克街的小店嗎? 回說我的豬扒,約十多分鐘就ready送上我面前。厚厚的豬扒,小說也有兩厘米厚。豬扒的賣相我給九十分,而味道也值相同分數。回想細時上家政堂,煎豬扒比牛扒難在於豬一定要全熟。但一但過熟,肉便變得過乾和過靭。這裏的豬扒雖說有成兩厘米厚,但內裏異常juicy。此店沒有過多調味, 突顯出高質猪扒的鮮味。配菜方面,有薯條跟沙律,味道没冇什驚喜。 我下次再來賞赏此店其他的食物。我相信如他們能跟上猪扒的水準,此店不難進身米之蓮店。…查看更多

以前住星街的時候經常看到Oolaa的名字,但一路都沒機會幫襯,今日開完會時路過見到又有一間在永豐街時,決定入去幫襯。我們兩個人叫了一碟steak sandwich和一碟calamari。因知道這類餐廳的咖啡水準不高,所以只叫了兩柸冰水喝。不消十分鐘,兩個order一齊到。我記得原先個侍應特地問我我的牛排要多少成熟,但看來他們能做的只有全熟和全生,我要的七成牛排一點紅色也沒有。味道方面,牛排是淡淡的。calamari的醬汁也很平淡,一點鮮味也沒有。…查看更多
