Good from afar, but far from good.

We came here for their new opening special for $498, which for the price is a steal. We debated on whether to upgrade to the next version for $798 which included a Wagyu Hanger Steak and one Oyster.Very glad we didn’t order the upgraded version. We initially asked what kind of Wagyu it is, the manager indicated it was an Australian wagyu. When asked what marble rating it is, he indicated to me that Australia Hanger Steaks don’t have Marble ratings - Guess what? They DO!Due to the dubious addition, we didn’t choose the upgraded version and afterwards we realised we were lucky we didn’t. Some other unlucky chap did order the upgraded version and the steak was in front of me. I asked the chef what Wagyu that is and he had the audacity to tell me it’s a Japanese A3! See my last attached photo. I think anyone who enjoys food would realize that not only is that not an A3, it might not even be Wagyu at all!I told the chef that the manager told me it was an Australian Wagyu, and he then told me he doesn’t know what the restaurant uses and doesn’t know where the ingredients come from.Any respectable chef would know where his ingredients come from and if an ingredient is switched on him, he should know just by having a look at it.Overall if you’re looking for a cheap meal, come here, but don’t order the added menu. sushixd I had a very good experience there . I ordered the $988 set, the A5 wagyu steak got intense marbling. Btw, the wagyu hanger steak is rarely divided by marbling rating , it’s true!

Delicacy The issue at hand here is the chefs have no idea what they are serving, not even able to tell me whether the beef is Japanese or Australian, which is a very basic question any respectable chef should be able answer. The food is filling, so for a cheap fill, it’s good to dine for the promotion price

Fine Dining Price for a simple Bistro

There was a lot of talk about Belon being on “Asia’s Top 50” and receiving a 1* from Michelin last year so we had to make a trip here to satisfy our curiosity of how a small shop in the middle of SOHO made the list. I would not bother if you are expecting top grade michelin-recommended food, but worth a try if you just happen to be in the area and feel like spending money after a big pay check.It’s difficult to rate as I find the food very average, presentation odd using minimalistic Ikea-like tableware, and the main course I did not expect a French restaurant to serve with the head and claw, which was very off putting for us, very overpriced for what it is. As a well reviewed dining venue some of what I pay it is for the decor and presentation. A small shop in SOHO just screams basic every day food to me, but the price charged for a Sunday lunch ($528+) is within striking range of Petrus in Shangri-La or Ecriture (helmed by Richard Ekkebus) which makes me wonder where this Black Sheep group Bistro sits within the big scheme of things.Did not order wine as the selection is reminiscent of Wellcome Supermarket for the price of a bottle of Grand Crus.In short, average food that seems like a “wannabe” fine dining establishment but food, but held back by its Bistro-style service and very high price for what it is, makes me a 1-time diner here and never again. When dining out, especially at that price point, service is of utmost importance. That evening was one of those special priced meal evenings. During a pandemic, they decided to stuff the entire restaurant with tables and the tiny table assigned to us had 1/3 of it covered with a plastic barrier. We asked for a different table, which they agreed to, but the feel is the restaurant was guests’ health and safety were of no importance to them. Asked whether they had an envelope to put our masks, they grudgingly gave us some tissue paper as if we’re weird for asking. It’s very common for restaurants, especially at that price point to offer envelopes or at Pacific Place, plastic reusable mask holders (great touch PP!). A small 6 once steak wasn’t an option for us and we wanted to upgrade it to an 8 once, which immediately the “manager” replied by saying they don’t have anymore and if we wanted a larger size upgrade that I needed to go to 16 ounces, which sounded like a money grab. How could a steakhouse not have steak inventory always on hand? Not only did he not have another option, when asked if there was a substitute the “manager” rudely replied “No!”. We stood up and left and shared with him the reasons, and without even a simple acknowledgement of their fault, he just walked away from us.A lot of the dining out experience is the service, and if you can’t even get that right, you don’t deserve to have customers.…查看更多

Italian “cha chan teng”

Nothing more than an Italian “cha chan teng” in a 5-star Hotel. Ordered linguine and it didn’t taste right and I inquired to confirm that they used rehydrated dried pasta - why would you do that in a 5-star hotel?Ordered a bottle of wine and the cork was red all over and obviously stored improperly, and it was only a 2015 - the staff refused that there was any issue with the wine and didn’t offer to change it for me. Any sommelier would recognise it as a problem.Ordered the lobster in tomato sauce and it was essentially an overpriced lobster bisque. Oh, it was supposed to be a “main course” as well. ?!?!Our first course arrived, which was terrible as they used canned tuna to make a sauce for my slow cooked veal. 3 Words: Overpriced, Unsanitary, Terrible

We looked forward to dining here, booked a week and a half in advance to try their famous Chicken Fish Maw Broth.All the excitement we had started to turn into disappointment. When the Broth came it was extremely oily. You're supposed to drink the broth, but it had a very thick layer of oil, and with every taste you can feel like you're drinking oil. The broth was MSG-filled (felt very thirsty afterwards and sleepy). Chicken was supposed to be well braised but instead was very hard, as if they just started boiling the chicken 15 mins prior.The seafood market was pretty much completely empty with the exception of some various types of clams, obviously dead shrimps (they were all laying on its side in the tank), lobsters were not moving, and in comparison to other hot pot restaurants, the seafood was severely overpriced by at least double. My girlfriend and I immediately had diarrhea upon arriving home and also the morning after (I am writing this right after both of us took a 20 minute trip to the toilet). The food was unsanitary.As for the "theme" of being an outdoor market, it's just all a cover for NOT spending money on renovating a poor location.Staff were inattentive and don't speak Cantonese well. Whatever we're ordering they give us the "huh?!" look. They keep missing our orders and when we asked where certain things were, they just kept saying wait it's coming (we're 60% thro that out meal!!).Definitely much better other options for much less the price. Can even dine at Drunken Pot (which I consider as premium) for the price we spent. Two person spend: $1100 HKD: Half chicken pot, beef, 2 razor clams, 3 large clams, vegetables, dumplings, fried "sang gun" (sorry don't know english name for it). How in the world did this come to $1100 HKD? Definitely will NOT dine here again!…查看更多

Wouldn't come here again, portions small, inexperienced chefs, no doing this chain any justice. Ordered salmon cream sauce linguine, very dry and no cream. Made a reservation for a table for 2. Upon arrival they sat us at the bar, which wasn't what I was looking for; I wanted a table but they said the bar was all they had. Obviously that wasn't acceptable then they offered me a table in a different restaurant. I was thinking these guys are just very unprofessional. They even gave me the other restaurant's menu which wasn't what I wanted. The manager came over and offered no appolgies and was trying to tell me many people likes their bar. What kind of BS is that?! If I wanted a bar, I would have went to LKF or McDonald's. We then booked a REAL restauarant which treated us very well with better food at better cost in a MUCH better environment: Tosca at Ritz Carlton. …查看更多

Semi buffet food was dry and substandard.Veal TenderloIn came well done when what we asked for was rare.Asked to change, once again came well done and grey like cement. Asked to speak with chef who insisted steak was good - obviously not otherwise why would I be complaining.As I walked away to the restroom, a waiter walked up to my girlfriend telling her we dont know how a veal should look like. I was VERY dissappointed in their actions. DO NOT DINE HERE people, NOT worth the frustration.Michelin rated restaurant?
