Last minute booking for 9pm dinner so it was a bit rushed. Luckily, their service is quite fast and we didn't have to starve. Premium Wagyu Sirloin Too little of such a great thing. I'm afraid dishes like this are the reason it's so hard to become a vegetarian. Savoury without being salty, that is harder than it sounds. I tend to have salty steaks because they are not marinated properly but this was not the case. Make sure you try the sides as well. LOVED the marinated lotus as well. Grilled White Miso Silver Cod Fish One of the best fish of the year excluding ceviche. Again, blown-away by how flavourful it was without being salty. Usually have the crepe cake as it is a safe classic choice but this time the Christmas special cake impressed me. What blew my mind was the cream. Hardly like cream on cakes but venture to try this one and it was almost as delicious as creamy ice cream. The rest was smooth vanilla cake. Quite a popular restaurant so made it right after they opened at 12:00. No queues, no waiting, just beautiful.Champion Chicken Soup (Glass noodles and rice noodles)Chose this because it was labelled as signature and I was craving noodles. The soup was plainer than I thought, which was actually great because I added green chilli paste and it was the perfect kind of hot for a Hong Kong winter day. The noodles were filling without being heavy. The sausage rolls offered nothing much so wouldn’t order it again. My favourite dumpling chain, my go-to for a quick hearty feast.To get it right just order the kimchi pan-fried and you’re good to go. I usually dine it and enjoy them fresh. This is actually the second time that I try this and I finally remember to review this.Probably the best cheesecake I remember having recently. The size is perfect for a small celebration that is looking for a more ceremonial piece of dessert than a full stomach. There is enough cheese to make it a cheesecake but the flavour is soft to the palate — a dangerous combo — you feast on it without feeling overwhelmed. Paisano's is the McDonalds of the pizzas: a trustworthy chain of meals of consistent quality you can always fall back on when you're lost. Quick service, fresh, hot slices. My own complaint is that the slices are so big that it's hard to enjoy two different flavours in one sitting. Even though there is a great variety, pepperoni is a no brainer. The classic never disappoints: the meat balances the cheese perfectly. My favourite part is the thin crust, crispy that blows my mind after every bite. One of the things that I want at home is a cheong fun machine to make rice flour rolls. But until that happens, I'm out there seeking the great substitutes, especially neighbourhood businesses and this is one of them. The best part about this place is not the food, it's the service and the all female staff ensemble I saw. As I don't believe in IPO and multinational corporations to save us, I make an effort to support SME. The ladies were welcoming and offered me a seat while I waited for my takeaway. The food was not bad. The skin was not the translucent thin I love but it was not so think that it overwhelmed me. The char siu lack fat but that's the usual for this dish. A popular restaurant in the neighbourhood as the crowds show. Have been there for dine in and it was really good so I didn’t think twice to call for takeaway. There is a huge variety of seafood dishes but today is a light dinner night. Chose calamari/squid because it’s sinful enough to satisfy a foodie, add cashews to the mix and rice, then you’ve got yourself a filling meal.Sadly, the squid was too salty. The rice hardly saved it. Hidden spot for crepes and french sandwiches. It’s a pity that the place is tiny and it gets quite busy at lunch so out of convenience I wouldn’t recommend it but if you have time to spare, do drop by for breakfast or tea. Salmon and spinach crepe It took a while but it was worth it. The only downside was that I had to eat in a hurry and therefore didn’t get to enjoy as much. I could taste both the salmon and the spinach, which is not always the case. The crepes was just nice, crispy and filling. It left me craving a sweet treat afterwards. Maybe could try it to go. Croque Monsier It was labelled a snack but it turned out to be less light than expected. Still a lighter choice compared to the crepe.
