Delicious food, good price

Passed by this restaurant in Mong Kok so I decided to try lunch here. The restaurant was pretty empty and only one table was filled although it was 12 already. There were 2 more tables filled around 1pm. They have a diverse menu with many different choices, which are all for quite a good value.I tried the deep-fried cheese ($78), which was gooey in the middle and very crispy on the outside. I would definitely recommend this if you're dining with your friends as you wouldn't want to have 6 of these to yourself. The pesto spaghetti with wild mushrooms ($128) was quite delicious as well.I would recommend this place for lunch especially since there is no waiting time. However, I'm not sure about other days or times. The dishes are also at a reasonable price and they offer a variety of desserts that we didn't get to try unfortunately.…Read More

Amazing yoghurt and toppings!
llaollao.
2017-07-11
This brand has gotten me hooked onto their yoghurt. I decided to try their petite with some Biscoff spread since this was my first time trying their froyo. I have to say their yoghurt was really really rich and smooth, and the Biscoff was such a good pair with the yoghurt as it was very sweet. Even for the petite size, there was quite a lot of yoghurt. Definitely recommend this!…Read More

Delicious acai bowl, average poke bowl
The Poké Co
2017-07-10
The location of the restaurant is  a little less obvious since it's tucked in a street away from the main street, although it's not too hard to find using Google Map. The decoration is simplistic but nice, with 3 high tables, one facing the street. However, most of the restaurant is made up of the counter and kitchen area. There is a toilet inside the restaurant.Made a custom poke bowl of sushi rice and tofu with the Vietnamese sauce. It was very bland, and I wished that I had added additional toppings or used greens as a base instead. I wouldn't recommend making a customised poke bowl for vegetarians, but maybe try their vegan option.I would really recommend the acai bowl though! It wasn't too sweet and the fruits and coconut flakes make a really good combination. However, I would have liked the smoothie a little thicker.…Read More

Badly trained staff and a bad second experience
Subway
2017-05-14
The first time I had Subway in Hung Hom I was gobsmacked, $35 dollars for a sandwich loaded with ham, the sauces were amazing, the staff were kind and patient. Wow, this was a total different story and a smack in the face, turning Subway into one of my least favourite chains immediately. I really don't think I'll be looking forwards to heading back there anymore.I ordered the vegetarian patty, and to be honest, just the process of watching them make my sandwich turned me off. Those guys did the sloppiest job, slapping on the cheese like it's nothing, then dumping it in the oven to heat up. They were also really impatient whilst I was ordering even though there was no one waiting in line. I had the sweet onion sauce and honey mustard, but I could only taste the sickenly-sweet flavour from the sweet onion sauce, and no mustard flavour at all. It was like ordering a sandwich with a patty inside, dipped in McDonald's sweet and sour sauce.…Read More

Good food, bad service
Mango Tree
2017-05-14
We came here to lunch as we heard that it was quite a nice restaurant, a bit more high end than the normal, especially with it being in Elements. We booked a table, so we didn't have to wait but they seemed to be pretty full whilst we were there. The view isn't anything spectacular although you get good lighting with a table by the window but otherwise it's only high rise buildings and construction sites to look at.We ordered the Pomelo Salad ($138) which was very refreshing and had a nice coconut taste to it. The soft shell crab rice paper roll  was alright. We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls as well but got the duck spring rolls instead despite making it very clear that we wanted the vegetarian ones. Roast chicken seemed to be very fragrant with the charcoal smell, pad thai was enjoyable, and so was the vegetable  glass noodle pot, although the vegetables were a bit undercooked. The worst part of my dining experience was the restaurant staff's service and attitude. When we raised the issue that we got duck spring rolls instead of the vegetarian spring rolls, the staff (whom I think was one of the seniors) told us that it "doesn't matter" because "the duck ones cost more anyways". This is very upsetting to hear as a vegetarian since not only did you bite into a spring roll thinking you were safe but then discovering there was meat inside but also having a SENIOR STAFF tell you that it's alright that they messed up the order. Another point was that the waitress who served our table seemed to be a bit annoyed the whole time.  When she was picking up the plates after we were finished, she also stacked the plates up in front of me, clearing bones from someone else's plate into mine before taking it away. She really could have taken it away to the server's table nearby and rearrange things there instead of doing it in front of a customer. She also kept on dropping the utensils that she was holding.I'd say that the food was quite nice, and maybe we just hit on the wrong day and had a bad experience but just keep in mind that this could happen.…Read More

Nice napolean cake
Patisserie Tony Wong
2017-01-01
Waited for around 10 minutes before I got the Mixed Berry Napolean. The staff advised the cake to be eaten within 4-5 hours of collecting. However, we ate the cake much later in the evening. Luckily, the puff pastry layers were still crisp and not soggy at all from the cream in between the layers. The whole cake was delicious, although there aren't that many special flavours. It is an alternative from your normal sponge cake though.…Read More

Good place for a snack
Waffleman
2017-01-01
A good place for a snack or afternoon tea after a walk around Stanley. There are seats inside the little shop, but you might feel slightly squished for space and would prefer to sit in the outdoor area on the terrace instead, where you get an overlooking view of Stanley.Waffleman serves waffles, brownies, ice cream sandwiches and icecreams, as well as a variety of drinks, mostly cold. I had my first ever icecream sandwich- the matcha icecream sandwich. The chocolate chip cookies sandwiching the icecream were crisp enough to sandwich the icecream without cumbling apart and making a mess. The icecream was quite soft and I had trouble eating it together with the cookie as it kept on coming out from one side. I'm not sure whether this is proof of my inexperience or a problem all icecream sandwich eaters face. The matcha flavour wasn't intensely bitter, but not too sweet either.I didn't order the waffles, but there were some people after me who did. They have 2 waffle machines outside near the counter that were open, but none of the waffles were fresh made as the waffles somehow came from the back in a little room.…Read More

Mediocre dinner
Panino Giusto
2016-10-01
I was quite excited going to try this new restaurant that has replaced Cafe Habitat as I love panini. The restaurant was quite quiet and empty when we went for dinner around 7, with only a small family and a couple. We were sat on the inside of the restaurant, which gave us some privacy rather than sitting outside. The lighting was slightly dimmer and the decor was very nice, which gave it a homely feel.We ordered a Tartufo (Parma ham, Brie, tomato, rocket) which was recommended, a Salmone (smoked salmon) and a Montagu (rosemary & sage infused beef). The Tartufo was quite nice and it was special compared to the others. I dididn't quite like the Salmone. The flavours were very plain and there was nothing special at all, almost like a smoked salmon in a bagel. I didn't feel like that was worth the money.Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this restaurant. I do still like panini but it wouldn't really be something that you would sit down to enjoy at a restaurant. There are some starters and other options for main courses that I didn't try, and of course those might be better as a proper meal. …Read More

Panini in a nice restaurant
Panini in a nice restaurant
Panino Giusto

Was quite excited to try this new Italian restaurant in Festival Walk as panini is one of my favourite foods. My first impression of the restaurant was that the decor was really nice and the dimmer lights made the atmosphere feel less homely. We went around 7 for dinner, and the restaurant was quite empty except for a small family and a couple. Although this meant that the staff were very attentive, the restaurant felt like it was lacking this vibe.I ordered three panini to try, a Tartufo Panini which was recommended, a Salmone Panini and the Montagu Panini. The Salmone Panini wasn't anything special, as the flavours were very plain-- smoked salmon in bread. The Tartufo seemed better, maybe because there were more components. Overall, I feel like the bread could be toasted a bit more to make it crispier. The restaurant also has a thing with paper napkins. Each sandwich came with a paper napkin on the plate, which might be a way of serving panini in Italy that I didn't know about, in addition to extra paper napkins, so we ended up with many napkins that we didn't use.…Read More

Mediocre dinner
A quiet spot for an expensive dinner
Pane Vino
2016-08-02
This was sort of a first time for me to go to one of these expensive fancy Italian restaurants in Hong Kong. I had been told that it used to be a busy little restaurant, but over the years it's popularity largely decreased. Service was very good as we were the first customers that night and the waitresses were not occupied. We were a table of 7, but we tried to order less as the dishes were quite expensive. For starters, we got some bruschetta, which was complimentary. Then, we ordered a special that the waitress introduced to us, which was like a big deep fried cheese ball served with a spicy tomato salsa. The cheese wasn't completely melted but it was nice and gooey inside. For mains, we had a Squid Ink Risotto, a Penne Carbonara, the Risotto Margherita and a Seafood Spaghetti. Portions were a bit small at the first look but we were all quite full at the end of the meal. Lastly for dessert, we tried the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Icecream and the Tiramisu. The strudel was quite nice although I would have preferred it to be in a different shape to get even bites of apple to pastry.Overall, the food and service was quite good but you have to be prepared to pay for the small dishes. Throughout the night, there were only 3 tables seated, with around 15 customers in total, so the atmosphere can be a little awkward. However, I would say that the food wasn't exceptional although they are charging like Italian restaurants, which is something I think could be improved on. For an average person, the food isn't bad but someone with higher standards should probably look for something else.…Read More

Great food and great value for money!
Town
2016-06-16
I love this place! I've came here for lunch twice and I have been very satisfied both times. The lunch includes the buffet, soup, dessert and coffee / tea for $188, and if you add the main course it costs a bit more. I have to say that the value-for-money is very good though! Even if you add the main course, it's totally worth it for the quality of food that you get. There's a basket of bread at the start of the meal, which has some tomato bread and is very tasty. The anti pasti buffet has quite a large range of food, with salad, smoked salmon, parma ham, quinoa salad... Then, you get to choose a main course, where they have a selection of pastas & risotto, fish, chicken, beef... There's also a choice of dessert. The staff here are also very polite and super patient if you need explaining about the menu.…Read More

I love these Taiwan cafes!
TeaWood Taiwanese Cafe & Restaurant
2016-04-16
My first time eating at this Taiwanese cafe after hearing my friends' recommendation. I had the Pasta with Mustard Cream and duck breast [$78], which was a very interesting flavour and it was the first time I had ever tried such a combination. I also had the Brown Sugar Ginger Latte [$29]. For me, this drink was a little too sweet and wasn't spicy enough. I couldn't taste the ginger at all and it was mostly just a sweet drink with cream. My pasta took quite a long time to come, but the waitress was very polite and apologised for the wait and my pasta came around 2 minutes later. I'm very happy with their attitude as well as the food!I'm looking forwards to trying their desserts as well as other dishes soon, but I definitely will return!…Read More

One of the few meals I didn't enjoy
Sweetology
2016-04-05
I went there for lunch, previously only having been there for dessert. I still had in mind of the long waiting time for a waffle with ice cream from my previous visit, but I was curious about their lunch, seeing as some costed only $44. I ordered the Pasta in White Cream Sauce with Smoked Salmon, which was on the cheap side of the menu but also sounded quite good. My dish came within 7-8 minutes, which is really quick. My first few bites of pasta unfortunately wasn't even warm. This made me wonder whether it was freshly cooked. The sauce was also a let-down, as it wasn't creamy at all and was quite runny actually. Thirdly, the bread roll that came with the lunch was hard as rock in the middle, which was really disappointing as I ended up not eating it. Overall, a really bad lunch which I actually didn't enjoy. I mean if you're looking just for something to fill you up, it does the job, but not nicely.…Read More

Just a normal lunch
An Nam (Festival Walk)
2016-03-28
If you ask me, there's nothing that stands out at An Nam, a relatively new Vietnamese restaurant in Festival Walk after Ricepaper closed. We had the Signature Combo Rice Noodle Soup, which was just ordinary; , which was probably the best tasting; Yellow Curry Chicken with French Bread which was a bit too salty for me. Service wasn't great this time although it was lunch hour. After the curry, the noodle and rice took a long time to come, although the staff are polite and responded well to our requests. Overall just an average restaurant for a meal.…Read More
