食物雖然適合小朋友,但唔好同小朋友嚟
Tong Tong Town
2022-06-19
…Read More

Overpriced even in Central's standard

I ordered the daily special of Chicken and Avocado with Bacon Salad ($97)for takeaway lunch. When I received the brown bag I was a little shocked that I blurted out to the staff "I ordered a salad!", because the contents inside the bag felt like the size of a sandwich. The staff took out the bag and showed me it was a salad. Then I commented, "this for $97? thats quite expensive!" "The chef prepared it. Sorry mam, that's our price" was the reply I got. I feel ripped off. I would have gotten a salad of comparable size AND taste for $70 at a similar spot. The quality of the salad was not bad but I do not find it exceptionally tasty. Quite similar with what you get at any average western restaurant in Central. The veggies taste fresh and crispy. There are several chunks of grilled boneless chicken, which were quite tender but people who prefer stronger tastes would probably find it bland. The avocado was a bit disappointing as there are only two thin slices. The bacon bits are good. Very crispy. I like the zesty dressing. I have heard good comments about this place and my previous dining experience here wasn't bad. However, I do feel I was ripped off and I detest dishonest busineeses. This may be a fair price for eat in's, just that they should probably have a separate takeout menu.…Read More

We felt like we never existed
Akita Teppanyaki, Sashimi
2011-06-06
I wouldn't say this is a bad restaurant because the service was generally attentive and the food wasn't bad. However, you have to make sure that 1. You go with at least 6 people so that you can take the whole table 2. You are going on a special occasion so you can make all kinds of special requests with the chef 3. You have at least 3 hours in your hands and you don't mind waiting forever while the chef and servers cater to other regulars. Unfortunately the two of us were placed at the same table with two groups of regulars who were both celebrating their special occasions, and became a bit rowdy in the end. We ended up waiting 45 mins while the chef played with the eggs (for the fried rice) at the request of both groups and the groups started shuffling around, taking pictures and became incredibly noisy. We were very annoyed and decided to leave without finishing the dinner set. It was a pity that we had an unpleasant night at Akita. Honestly, the food wasn't bad but we didn't feel like we were valued customers, as we came in a small group, were not regulars and we didn't have a special occasion. The servers, manager and customers there didn't seem to even care about our presence. The manager apologized for what happened when she realized we were unhappy but didn't do anything to make up for it. We spent like $1800 here and left with our stomachs only half full and feeling very irritated. We are not going to give them another chance. …Read More

Must-try Portugese restaurant!
Restaurante Espaco Lisboa
2011-04-12
We made reservations the day before and we arrived early so we were the first to get there. The restaurant is a nice family cottage with vintage European style decor. There is also an outdoor terrace upstairs with a few tables, but it would be a bit too hot to sit outside that day. The two of us ordered garlic clams, baked bacalhau in cream sauce, and a stewed seafood rice. The complimentary olives were fresh and tasty and the bread was warm and soft with a crispy crust. We also ordered a jug of red wine sangria. A lot of the sangria we tasted outside Spain has been less than flavourful, but the one they made wasn't bad. The clams arrived - big juicy and the sauce was simply delicious. T finished the whole bread basket with the sauce! Then the baked bacalhau arrived. There is cheese on top and the bacahlau were baked in chunks with potatoes. The sauce was very rich and creamy - I loved it! And then the stewed seafood rice arrived too. We were half full already but the rice was so yummy that we couldn't resist! There were lots of seafood - several prawns, clams, fish, scallops... Service was attentive. The server filled up our glasses of wine and water from time to time. We almost finished everything, including the Sangria, and was totally stuffed. We wish we had room for desserts but well, next time The bill came and we paid happily with full satisfaction. We were so full that we had to take a walk around the area before leaving Will definitely return! …Read More

Yummy CNY ice-cream!
Ice Cream Gallery
2011-02-03
After a sumptuous brunch at Oolaa we decided to head to Repulse Bay to walk off our bulging bellies. Then I recalled there was an ice-cream place at the Arcade so we went to check it out. Yay it was open in CNY.There were so many weird flavors like French bacon and egg, lobster, black/white truffle, foie gras, Japanese sake... The server was very friendly and helpful. She let us try so many flavours. Notable was my bf tried black truffle and foie gras, liked neither. I tried Japanese sake and I thought it tasted like rotten wine! Anyhow, we ended up going for more conventional flavours- my bf had pistachio with a dash of black sesame; I had green tea with a dash of white chocolate cookies. The server offered to add a dash to a scoop so we can have 2 flavors but only pay for 1. The dash was more like half scoop. The ice-cream was fresh and flavour was natural. It was less creamy than other shops and less sweet. I thought it was really refreshing. All flavors we picked was delicious and after finishing the cup we felt more full than ever. No regrets though!…Read More

Strange
Yogurt Bliss
2010-08-11
I decided to skip lunch yesterday and just have froyo instead. Saw this new shop on Ashley Road and thought why don't I give it a try. When I entered the store one of the shopkeepers were having his lunchbox at one of the tables, which I thought looked very unprofessional, and a man who looked like his grandfather was serving customers at the counter. I am not being age-discriminatory and by all means people of any age can sell ice-cream, but this just looks very weird and doesn't fit with the youthful decor and image they are trying to create. Anyways, he might have been the boss anyway. Both shopkeepers were attentive and polite though. There were 4 flavours of froyo available - taro, blueberry, mocha and strawberry. I ordered a large , half taro half blueberry (they didn't have the plain flavour :( ), with bluberries and kiwi as toppings. The froyo was of a generous portion, but the man only gave me 5 blueberries . Price was $35 for a large serving with 2 toppings. You can only choose 2 flavours of froyo if you buy a large. The froyo was more like sorbet than froyo, and there was no yogurt taste at all. Taro tasted way better than blueberry. The fruit was fresh. I would prefer frozen yogurt that tastes more like yogurt. In general, I would not come back to this store. I'd rather walk 5 mins to Haagen-Daz t o have ice-cream . …Read More

Best frozen yogurt place in town!
Berrygood
2010-06-19
I love Berrygood! I love the yogurt here. It has a heavy yogurt taste which some may not suit everyone's taste but this is what I like the most their yogurt. In addition to the original flavour, they have one other rotating flavour. Last time I went was lychee. I tried it and it was pretty good although I like the original more. There are many choices of toppings, including less common ones like grapejelly. Portions are fairly generous. It would be nice if they can have more seating inside the shop.I would definitely stop by this place whenever I come by Soho. …Read More

Refreshing & Delicious
Yo Mama - Frozen Yogurt
2010-06-18
If you have a taste for froyo, this is one of the must-go places. I have been here several times and it has become one of my favourite places when I need a froyo fix. The yogurt is firm, refreshing and tasty. The original flavour a good mix between yogurt and milk flavours. Choices of toppings might be less than other froyo shops but the ingredients are fresh and they give you a generous serving. They have all the "standard toppings" such as oreo bits, granola, coco pops, mochi, etc, but I thought they could offer more choices of fruit toppings such as grapes and peach. Also they only have 2 yogurt flavours - original and green tea, and green tea is a bit too sweet for my liking. Service is attentive and efficient. Prices are a standard $28 for a regular tub (forgot the price for a large tub) including 1 topping and $5 for each additional topping. One more thing I like about this shop is that there are quite a few dine-in seats compared with other froyo places that are mostly takeaway. I'd personally prefer eating in because the froyo would melt in a flash in such hot weather. Overall, this is a great place for a light healthy dessert and I will definitely visit again and again! …Read More

蓮香樓's 蓮蓉包&馬拉糕
Lin Heung Tea House
2010-01-16
Finally had a chance to visit this famous traditional tea house! It was Saturday lunch time so it was totally packed. Service was "old fashioned'' style so it was neither efficient nor courteous especially during these peak hours. They actually got our order wrong but the lady yelled at us when we said the dish wasn't what we ordered. My boyfriend got quite angry and almost refused to take the dish! However, the food was DELICIOUS! I especially loved the 蓮蓉包. The buns were steaming hot when I got them and there was so much filling. They were sooooo good that I managed to finish 2 buns! The 馬拉糕 was so good too and I finished the whole thing The tea was also very good. This place is worth visiting, but do try to visit during non-peak hours. Otherwise you would end up running around trying to grab the dim sums before they run out (it was the fun part though!) Another thing is, I don't really agree with Openrice's introduction on this restaurant: 環境高貴舒適 …Read More

Yummy B仔涼粉~~~
Kei Kee Dessert
2009-12-08
We have heard of this place before and the famous B仔涼粉, but we didn't even have an idea what it is and how good it was! It was our first time here. We ordered one B仔涼粉 ($58) and one Mango Pancake ($18). The B仔涼粉 was REALLY huge! ALl the fruit I thought was fresh and good, maybe with the exception of 大樹菠蘿 which tasted a bit like plastic The 涼粉 was plentiful and were in big chunks! What I liked best was those transparent small oval sweets (I don't know what they're called). I almost finished the whole bowl ~ so full afterwards! We had a hard time spooning out the 涼粉 because the fruit was all stacked at the top! I didn't eat the mango pancake as I was preoccupied by the B仔涼粉 Would suppose it was good as my bf finished it all. Didn't have space to try their 腸粉and fishballs. Hoping to do that next time! They also have a huge selection of other very enticing desserts. I think I will need 30 visits to try them all! …Read More

車仔腸粉 + 粗粒花生醬厚多士
順興茶檔
2009-11-24
My two favourites are 車仔腸粉Their 腸粉 is much better than many overrated dim sum and congee places! 粗粒花生醬厚多士The crunchy peanut butter mixes so well with the toast, and it is DELICIOUS! This is the only dish that I would NOT want to share with anyone! The only thing is - you gotta get to this place early, otherwise the lineup will be really long and most items would have already sold out. …Read More

Dim SumThe Art Of Chinese Tit Bits
2009-11-24
I used to visit this restaurant with my parents all the time when I was young although I no longer remember much of it. Haven't been here for years and every time I passed by there were always people waiting for tables. I finally managed to re-visit after so many years and I was, frankly, quite disappointed. The reasons being: Service I would suppose the chefs, servers and other staff are family members. It's so family style that the brothers ended up yelling at each other ,and the mother bossing her children around. It got quite chaotic actually. Interesting sight but then it got to a point when they started frowning at you when you called for them..... Food The 灌湯餃 was good. Other dim sum was only very average. Not worth the price we were paying for (their dim sum averages $30-50 per dish). Also, the food took sooooo long to arrive. I understand that dim sum were all made to order, but I guess they could improve their efficiency a bit (as I mentioned, it was chaotic). Most customers were either tourists or expats alike. They are certainly doing good business as it was full even at 3pm on a Saturday. But given the price it charges, the food and service just don't live up to expectations. Tourists might like their decor but if I just want a decent place with good dim sum, I can find many other places with much better food at half the price. …Read More

Food OK, Service sub-standard
Fish Bar
2009-10-29
Food: Fish was still good! I had Beer Battered Fish n Chips, the others had Grilled Garoupa and Grilled Sea Bass, all catch of the day. My dad had the Fish Chowder as an appetizer - it looked very enticing with a huge piece of fish (think it was sea bass) plus some prawns! They were also having a promotion on fresh Oysters. I don't eat oysters whilst the others had 6 each; they were disappointed with the quality. Service: Honestly, I was quite disappointed with their service! This is a 5-star hotel after-all! 1. First of all, we ordered a bottle of wine from the Master Wine List (not from the restaurant's wine menu). After we ordered, our server suddenly returned and suggested that we order a bottle of champagne instead. We then told him we would like some wine, not champagne. I tasted the wine and found it a bit too fruity for my liking. Then, here's the dialogue: Server: Yes, this wine is very fruity; that's why I recommended the champagne.Me: But we would like to have wine instead. Server: Oh, in that case, I would have recommended the _____ (pointed at an item on the menu, NOT the Master Wine List), as the one you ordered would be too fruity for most people. Me: If that is so, why didn't you make the recommendation when I ordered? Server: Because YOU asked for the Master Wine List. YOU didn't ask for recommendation and made your choice. We give our customers the right to choose what they order.Me: ........ (I was silenced) Oops, so simply put, IT WAS MY OWN FAULT THAT I DIDN'T ASK FOR HIS RECOMMENDATION AND ORDERED SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T LIKE. 2. Our oysters arrived and the server (different guy) quickly named the oysters and took off, without mentioning which the order which they should be eaten. Maybe he forgot, or maybe he didn't know. 3. We ordered some more bread, the server (a girl this time) said yes, and the bread didn't arrive until we asked again from a different server. 4. The crab cake was sold out when we ordered. The server said they only sell 100 servings everyday, and that's why they were usually sold out by early evening. However, as we were leaving the restaurant, we saw the table next to us enjoying the crab cakes! Maybe they can be pre-ordered? Honestly, I don't know whether I will visit this restaurant again! …Read More

Have to give them a CRYING face!
Tanaka Japanese Restaurant
2009-09-15
We have always wanted to try this place for so long but every time we come here it is either closed or have a HUGE crowd lining up outside for seats. We came here not long before closing time so we got a table rightaway, and then here comes our very disappointiing dining experience. Why so? 1. The sushi and sashimi selection is very limited 2. The sushi is NOT fresh at all. It's WARM and MUSHY! The rice is hard and doesn't hold together at all 3. Price is the same as a similar restaurant but portion is MUCH smaller 4. Service is terrible! They kept on checking our bill and then threw the clipboard on our table, which was very irritating.Apparently we are not the only unsatisfied customers. Given their decline in quality and increased competition in the area, it's likely that their 45 mins policy can soon be abolished. …Read More

Refreshing!
Nice Dessert
2009-09-15
It was around normal dinner time and was raining cats and dogs when we arrived, but a few tables were already filled at that time. We tried their 千口甘,芒果腸粉 and a durian dessert (forgot the name). All the desserts are not so sweet and are very refreshing. The 腸粉 skin doesn't taste like the usual skin and it's more chewy. Portions may not be as big as other dessert joints but would be quite enough for a girl (guys might want to order more!) Not a bad place. Would return some time. …Read More
