I used to visit this restaurant with my parents all the time when I was young although I no longer remember much of it. Haven't been here for years and every time I passed by there were always people waiting for tables. I finally managed to re-visit after so many years and I was, frankly, quite disappointed. I would suppose the chefs, servers and other staff are family members. It's so family style that the brothers ended up yelling at each other ,and the mother bossing her children around. It got quite chaotic actually. Interesting sight but then it got to a point when they started frowning at you when you called for them.....
Food
The 灌湯餃 was good. Other dim sum was only very average. Not worth the price we were paying for (their dim sum averages $30-50 per dish). Also, the food took sooooo long to arrive. I understand that dim sum were all made to order, but I guess they could improve their efficiency a bit (as I mentioned, it was chaotic).
Most customers were either tourists or expats alike. They are certainly doing good business as it was full even at 3pm on a Saturday. But given the price it charges, the food and service just don't live up to expectations. Tourists might like their decor but if I just want a decent place with good dim sum, I can find many other places with much better food at half the price.
