The Old Monk Bar & Grill
2022-06-09
Came here for a chill lunch with friends, sat inside although there is an option to sit out front. The doors were open so if you dislike the occasional cigarette smell might not be the place for you. The atmosphere was quite relaxing, it was lunchtime on a weekday so it wasn’t full just one or two tables other than us so it was quiet and they had great music choice. We ordered the Seabass, Classic Carbonara, Old monk signature salad (smoked salmon meat choice) and the Hawaii Teriyaki beef skewers. The Seabass was delicious, melted in your mouth, not too try or undercooked. The classic carbonara was alright, although could use a bit more taste. The old monk signature salad with smoked salmon, I had trouble eating because they were cut in strips with the stem/base of it still attached which I heard means that the veg was not able to be washed properly before serving but besides that it was alright. The Hawaii Teriyaki beef skewer had tasty slices of roasted zucchini although in my opinion the actual beef lacked the sweet teriyaki taste and was a bit dry and chewy for me but other than that was alright. To end the meal we ordered one of each dessert, a Caramel cheesecake, triple chocolate crunchy cake and an apple tart with ice cream. They were all very delicious, my favorite being the apple tart and chocolate cake which just melts in your mouth. The overall service was good although it was sometimes a bit hard to find the waiter. …Read More

I ordered a Fettuccine Al Salmon and Lobster Risotto for dinner take out today. The Lobster Risotto would’ve been worth it’s price of $178 if the rice wasn’t undercooked…it was quite nice to find half of a lobster and a couple pieces of lobster meat and shrimp in the risotto but the meal was a bit ruined by the undercooked rice evident in the white middle of the rice still visible and it had a grainy texture. For the Fettuccine Al Salmon, it was okay but could be better, I was expecting a whole piece of “fresh” salmon as stated on the menu for $158 but could only find one or two pieces of smoked salmon in the dish so that was a bit of a let down…In conclusion, it could’ve been better and I’m not sure if it was an off day or I should’ve ordered something else but I was a bit disappointed; especially after hearing from a family member that the food is amazing.…Read More

Came here as a party of 3 sharing the Thai Flair Afternoon Tea for 2. It came with 2 drinks, 2 braised fresh abalone and assortment of other seafood/thai dishes (added a picture of the menu) and we added the Fresh Lobster and Fruit Salad which I can say was not worth the $88 because the lobster tasted like nothing and the fruit salad pieces were very small. For the two drinks I ordered the Thai Sangria which tasted quite good while my friend got the Sea Salt Caramel Coffee. Overall it tasted quite good but the desserts were especially tasty. At the end of the meal I wasn’t full since we shared with 3 people but with 2 I think you’ll definitely be full by the end of it.…Read More

Service was alright, food tasted alright but could’ve been in a bigger portion. I got the truffle mushroom risotto which tasted not bad and my mother got the foie gras with spaghetti. She said there was too much oil… the vibe was quite chill because of the nice music and ambience lighting.…Read More

Overpriced and Overrated
Lobster Shack
2022-05-29
This was the first time coming here and the last. After a friend heard great reviews about this place we decided to try it out.We ordered from the lunch set menu, for HK restaurant week that featured Starter soup and salad of the day, a Main either Pollock Fish and Chips, Half Grilled Lobster, Crab Linguini and Wild Mushroom Linguini with a dessert Lemon Tart or Matcha Green Tart for $198.We ordered the Pollock Fish n Chips, Crab Linguini and Half Grilled Lobster. For dessert we didn’t have a choice since they ran out of the Matcha Green Tart so we had to get the Lemon Tart. When the starters came it was placed in a very cute fish bowl going with the theme of the restaurant but it was for sure the smallest potion of soup I’ve ever seen; it was less than a third of the bowl. If it wasn’t because of the overwhelming taste of pepper, the soup would’ve tasted amazing. Onwards to the next starter, the salad was alright. It was a salad so I’m sure nothing could’ve gone wrong. When the mains came they were disappointing. The Half Grilled Lobster was overly small almost the size of a crayfish or maybe literally that size. Anyways besides the size of it, it was overcooked and not fresh, the meat was stuck to the shell and the color of it was off. The plate were mostly fries too and a small salad. The 2nd main, Pollock Fish and Chips were alright, it was one piece of fish with half of the plate fries like the lobster one. For the least offensive dish, the Crab Linguini, it was in my opinion quite tasty but also have a rare almost unseeable amount of crab in it mostly just the tomatoes. To end this disappointing meal with an even disappointing ending was the dessert. The Lemon Tart. Each of us got the smallest cut of tart imaginable. It was almost comical. Overall these dishes were not worth the $198 price tag. Would never come here again. Imagine a place called “Lobster Shack” serving unfresh overcooked lobster in the smallest size imaginable with the biggest price tag.…Read More

The service was okay but could be better, when our order came they’d dump the plate or bowl of food at the table corner and walk away instead of placing it remotely close to the customer or middle of the table. There was complimentary bread but it was literally two pieces toasted without any butter to spread on it. So that was weird and disappointing. There were no available lunch sets so we ordered from the normal a la carte menu. I got the lobster sauce risotto with scallops and my mother got the GC signature burger. The fries were tasty but she compared this burger with the McDonalds Angus burger and said even McDonalds tasted better. My risotto came with 3 scallops which were cooked well although the risotto tasted mediocre, it wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t call it tasty either. Worth $138? Debatable……Read More

A Happy Pancake (K11 Musea)
2020-03-14
I ordered the Tiramisu flavored one and the actual pancake was light and fluffy as you’d expect, they also have the typical cocoa powder and cream although they can definitely add more coffee taste as they only had a small squeezy syringe filled with coffee to add flavor. Besides that, it was pretty good. A friend ordered the cream cheese berry one which also tasted really good. Would definitely recommend. I tried this once in Japan before and ordered the original flavor; I’d say the original flavor is still the best one out of them all. If you are thinking of coming here, you should make sure you’ve got time to spare as there is always a line that can even go to the other side of the escalators. I ended up waiting for 50 mins before I was able to get a seat. The cost is around $80 - $120 for 3 pancakes or some with meals as they also have salty meal pancakes, which isn’t too bad for the price.…Read More

Ruby Tuesday Bar and Grill (K11購物藝術館)

When the food came, the portion was utterly disappointing. I ordered the Shellfish Mac & Cheese and the portion size could at most fill a 10 year olds stomach. It was sad and unbelievable that it costed $308. It was also a ‘main course’, it should be labeled a snack or kids menu instead. I get that the price could also cover the crab and shrimp but even so they could put more macaroni, they wouldn’t suffer a loss. Although I have to give it to them that it tastes great the portion and pricing sucked. I would recommend this place if you’ve got money to blow and isn’t that hungry. …Read More

Food's Good, Service Lacking.
Goobne Chicken (東薈城名店倉)
2020-03-01
I went here with my mother once before. Probably one of the worst services ever but it might be because they just opened and the staff was novices. We waited almost an hour for our food, waiters would forget things such as literally putting our order in and the menu. They also have weird sitting arrangements where they make people who come in pairs tightly sit together with two tables side by side making it near impossible for the pair seated in the inner wall to get out properly. This happened to my mother and me; we had to ask the pair seated outside to get up so we could get out. This happened yet again when a waiter tried to make us sit in the inner table when there were literally 20 other empty tables or booth seats that we could sit in. Although the service was ridiculous, the food was really good. We got the curry honey chicken and the noodle egg roll. The chicken was nice and hot, it was moist and not dry at all! The flavor was amazing. The noodle egg roll was alright, nothing special about it I guess. …Read More

Can’t even admit their mistakes.
Wheatfield X Borsch & Noodles (Citygate)
2020-03-01
Today I ordered a simple order of 2 soup x noodle sets, each $88 on food panda from wheatfield and when they delivered it was wrong. This isn’t even the first time we ordered from them, the same exact set and they never got it wrong before. When online dining platform delivered, it was missing the chicken and the noodles were wrong. It was honestly alright that they forgot or messed up the order, people make mistakes. The part that wasn’t okay was that when we called to tell them, they denied getting the order wrong and instead blamed the online dining platform delivery guy. Are you serious? I’m pretty sure food panda isn’t in charge of making and packaging the order. Why don’t the employee just admit they made a mistake. 1. Left out the chicken and 2. The noodles were wrong. In the other 3 or 2 times I’ve ordered the same exact set, the noodles would always be flavored with a sauce, if that’s wrong and they were supposed to be bare, then I guess all those other times I’ve ordered were wrong.…Read More

Ramen worth the price.
Confusion Ramen
2018-07-30
I would consider this ramen restaurant to be the most worth it considering the price. It had choices of thickness of noodle, how much pork fat, bean sprouts etc you wanted without any additional charge! Not only could you control the amount of things you would like to add but the ramen portions originally are pretty big and definitely filling. The ramen is fantastic! Service is pretty average I guess and the interior of the shop is a bit cramped and lack air conditioning so it would be best in the winter but it would still be worth it even in other seasons. …Read More
