My friends and I had a very enjoyable dim sum at this place. Although we had all the traditional dim sum food like char siu buns, rice rolls and fried noodle rice, I must point out the key standout dish: the fried pork tripes. Normally, I hate eating pork tripes and it's usually too chewy and blend. First off, ToastBox has really good dishes and food - simple but tasty. They have branches all round HK and they deliver consistently nice food. We ordered the Kaya toasts and the egg ham with egg benedict toasts. As always, the kaya toasts are awesome. This place is amazing and offers really nice Sashimi at lunch time, in a set. The salmon especially tastes very buttery and is one of the best Salmon Sashimi I have ever eaten! In addition, the ginger pork or lamb are really tasty and filling, but the best dish in my opinion, is the grilled mackerel. It is cooked to perfection, without being oily and the cooked mackerel still retains its softness and juiciness.I also recommend this place because it is spacious and offers a great customer service. The staff is welcoming and one of the heart warming story I heard from a fellow blogger is that, she forgot a valuable item at the restaurant and 3 months later, on coming back for her lunch, the staff kindly returned her the valuable that she left. Today is the 4th of January and it is my wife's birthday. I wanted to take her to a place that would not disappoint her and delight her. After reviewing the reviews here, I thought it was a reliable place as it won an award just recently. My booking experience was straightforward and the staff was very polite and even offered to make a cake ready (free of charge, as I discovered today) for the occasion, when confirming the booking. Well, the place did not disappoint, because from the setting foot in the restaurant, we were warmly greeted like VIPs and led to our seats. The hotel restaurant has a very nice decor, on top of an amazing view of the harbour, which really adds to the charm of the place. Moreover, the table arrangement meant that everyone could get a view of the outside, while also having a lot of privacy. Now, everyone is wondering about the food? We chose a set dinner, which had a good blend of fine cuisine... From smoked swordfish to Veal Parfait, assorted with their salad, to the duck soup followed by the sorbet (to clear the taste from the starters)...to the main course of the pork belly and the australian fillet... these were lots of food, but they complemented each other perfectly, in a way the chef had orchestrated skilfully, towards the sublime. One compliment I would like to make to the chef is that the pork belly was wonderfully cooked, without being dry, while the texture was still soft and juicy, and the aroma was extremely palatable. The fillet, medium cooked, blended with the red wine, and was on the spot (not overcooked/under cooked) and was savoury to the point that I would recommend it to anybody.The dessert, not just the cake, but the baked mango pudding with the passion fruit sorbet topped off a truly exquisite dinner. On a special occasion when I truly wanted everything to go to perfection, this place contributed significantly, and with all the fine dining food also came the excellent service from the staff, who were amazing at making us feel valued customers, while serving the wine and food. If the chef helped win us over with his/her tasty food, the staff of the day helped ascend the dining experience even further, because they were pleasant, courteous, helpful, always smiling (and I am usually picky and nagging) and always making us feel welcome. All in all, for about $600 per person, with fine dining and wine, and excellent services, this place is truly ideal for anybody trying to share a perfect evening.…查看更多

A few weeks ago, we were itching for some Thai food and stumbled upon this place. With a nice exotic decor, decent space and friendly staff, we embarked on a special Thai food journey where we had the green curry and the "Yuk Soy San Choy pau" (minced pork larb with lettuce leaves) - these are highly recommended, as the taste is charmingly Thai, with a touch of tropical flavours. One other recommendation is the garlic bread, which is not a the regular baked version you would get, but is is toasted to the right crispiness on the outside, and the middle centre is still soft and buttery.While it is a small restaurant with a more spacious upper floor, it still looks like the occasional family dinner place, as most tables looked occupied by different families.…查看更多

Although dim sums are not my strong point, but I have to admit that this place is extra special. Not for the reasonable ( aka low for me) price, but the variety, taste and quality. Take for example the crispy barbecue pork bun - it is comparable to Tim Ho Wan's own crispy BBQ buns (and this is from a michelin star chef), and the blend of flavours will delight your taste buds. We also tried the rice roll with sichuan beef and alarm bells might start ringing if you are spice averse, but this one is mild and sweet, but terribly tasty if you love spicy food. Another recommendation is the pan fried dumpling that has been lightly seared on the outside such that the rice wrapping is crispy but the inside remains juicy. And if you are urging for some sweet palatable treats, you would definitely want to try the corn maize bread: lightly sweet, moist, spongy, soft and not overwhelming. The red date jello is also another similar kind of dessert to try as part of the dim sum selection. And all in all, after ordering a total of 8 baskets of different dishes, the bill was as low as $90 per head - quite on the cheap side, I believe, especially for the quality.While I could go on and on for the whole exhaustive list offered in the menu, I am relating those food that I think you would love to try.The decor is reasonable and comfortable, and if at first, you see the place is full on the ground floor, fear not, because the upper floor would likely have more room for your party. Well, this place is really amazing. Although I would point out that the food is not completely authentic because it has a small hint of being localised, the selection, variety and taste is really worth it. A few years before, I had tried the Tsuen Wan branch and was midly impressed, but this branch in Hung Hom is really buoyant, lively and the food is tasty.While it would not count as fine dining, the food quality and taste is arguably to a high quality - the pizzas were thin and crispy as should all the mediterranean pizzas be, and the salad as well as the baked rice ( typical Hong Kong fusion style) are a taste to behold, because you would not find any of the dishes too salty or bland. I would recommend the prosciutto pizza as it was crispy, with 2 large slices of prosciutto with cheese and tomato - quite an excellent combination, although it's simplicity at its best. The salad was fresh, although the chicken inside should have been boiled as opposed to lightly fried, but the taste and texture were still acceptable. Lastly, you should try the tartuffo italian ice cream at $24 (as of 05-07-2015) as it's very authentic. One thing to consider is that while the main dishes were not completely italian, the desserts were the real deal. You should give it a try.And the service is great. The food was alright and they have a variety of beers. But $55 for chips and a happy hour that is not really a real one makes this place a disappointment. The service is poor and before you place an order, please make sure you confirm every item you ordered at the price that you think you read, because they won't bother warning you or canceling the order if you presumed wrongly.…查看更多

Kevin88888 Basically, I ordered drinks not on the happy hour list and ordered by mistake, then, I am unable to cancel because the waitress would come round and say that the drinks have been poured and therefore, cannot be cancelled from the bill.

Last Tuesday 16-6-2015, I went to have dinner there with my girlfriend and although I knew the place was really nice, this time was a step higher in my expectation. Why? I wanted a romantic dinner and not only the food was very nice as per usual, but the staff was extremely friendly and proactive. The kind of service I received was 5 star, and needless to mention that the girlfriend was very impressed too!The dish I would recommend is the Cannelloni. It is vegetarian (and the menu is great at pointing the vegetarian options too - so if you're a vegetarian, you would find the menu very informative), and it was very well balanced overall, with a good blend of spinach and cheese. The dish was not too salty nor plain and very palatable (and I am not a vegetarian at all). The dish was served on a hot clay pot and retained its juiciness without drying up for the evening (even I am a slow eater). Overall, the place looks amazing and is perfect for a romantic date where you don't want to be disappointed. I strongly recommend the place because they could do nothing wrong in the previous visits I had. Consistent & friendly service, great Italian food, pleasant decor, table seating where you don't feel cramped in and great for romantic dates or group gatherings. I would go again!…查看更多

As a food blogger, I went there to see what the place is like with 5 other friends. To cut it short, it was not a good experience. As soon as we entered the premises, we were greeted politely but that is where it all stops. The restaurant seems to be a fast food place as well as the repair shop. As explained by the host, their microwave broke down and so, the engineer has to fix it, but in the middle of the restaurant area, bothering every customer and making the other table next to us, feeling uneasy. Those behind me were wondering about the health hazards involved, not least. Whenever one of their kitchen equipment breaks down, be warned.Back to the food, the fish and chips were quite nice, although not the best. There are not many places that make good chunky chips and this place is not one of them: on that occasion, the fries were too oily and it is never good nor healthy to have fries that is still soaking from oil. When it comes to the fish, we had the cod and the haddock. Althought there was nothing wrong with the taste, the problem is that there was nothing that stood out - the accompanying sauce was very bland and that did not help with the taste of the fishes which themselves were well fried, but weak in flavour. In addition, I had the impression that the batter had a little too high tendency to crumble and separate too easily from the fish. That is minor, but I have been to places where the batter sticks to the fish and this is really how it is supposed to be.The side dish of mushed peas was alright and is a good accompaniment to the above selection of fish and chips. However, something zestier/tangier would have been preferable - you might notice that the fish batter and fish were bland/tasteless (not too salty and not very 'fishy' in taste but then again, that is the type of the fish), but combining the complimentary mushed peas with the fish and chips is not a great combination. You really need tomatoes or a lemon , or if possible, tartare sauce with it. As the portions were very average, we also ordered a pie - they had a decent selection but again, the portion was puny. Although we were told that it would be reasonable to share, the pie was really the size of a tennis ball and I would not recommend it to you as a main dish (although it is charged as much as one), but the taste was ok. The place is not very well lit and it is not a good place to sit in. I could not get any decent pictures, because:1) somehow the iphone's performance in the dark is abysmal, even with flash.2) the place is in a dark alley and is not very well lit.Moreover, maybe all the eating experience boiled down to not eating in a pleasant environment, but this place is 'ok' but there is nothing spectacular. My friends and I went there because it is a good restaurant. Well, these friends are Korean and they are picky with food, but when they tell you they like the place and it is authentic, then, that adds some weight to their argument.On a mild summer day, we decided to have food and drinks there and the palce did not disappoint. The restaurant has 2 levels and we strongly suggest you book for the top floor area. It has great lighting and comfy seats, although the waitresses may not be very responsive. Still, nothing to complain about as it is all in good order and the service is at worst, good.We started off with some pork belly and beef ribs. They were exquisite - fresh , tender , juicy and well, you know that most imported meat are always frozenin the cargo's cold store although they are considered 'fresh'? Well, the pork and beef, we had, were properly defrost before we got them because they were not solid and could just be placed on the bbq rack immediately. The lettuce leaves we had were fresh and looked washed; the side dishes were really tasty and in ample supply too, while the Korean wine selection on the menu, although not extensive, would give you a fair headache for your preferred one. Mind you, they also have beers and plenty of them!After we had a nice bbq-ed meat and bbq-ed kimchi, my friends recommended us to try the soup. On a glorious Sunday evening, after having a great meal, I decided to go to 'Les célébrités' at the Nikko hotel and I left there, greatly satisfied. Well, I am a bit eccentric to go there only for dessert but I have a sweet tooth although the main courses available (Sashimi, Indian curry, Sushi...etc) had a very hynoptic appeal to me, but I already ate my main courses prior to going there, regrettably for me.Having said that, the dessert selection is amazing there - there are many pastries, panna cotta, sweet soup, ice cream, and more cake variety than you can find in a cake shop. Moreover, if you are health conscious like me, you might also try the fruits that are also available next to the dessert stalls. I had strawberries and although the caster sugar and whipped cream are not provided, if you asked the waiter, he/she will kindly acquiesce to your request - please do not get me wrong, because the strawberries were sweet and it is only my personal habit of eating strawberries with some sugar for dessert that prompted this sugary excess:The sponge cake was lightly sweet but had an excellent flavour, while not being too dry, but rightly moist and literally crumbles in the mouth:The great thing about the coffee shop there, lie in the abundance in variety for the desserts and I managed to uncover a little known but tyranically deliciously pleasant Malaysian dessert, "the Ban Chang Kue" - the chef will add any side ingredients (peanuts, fruits, sugar...etc) to your liking and the taste is absolutely supreme as the crispiness coupled with its sweet nature makes this a great dessert comparable to a pancake but so thin, crispy yet soft:As I had a sweet craving, I accompanied the Ban Chang Kue with ice cream - on some days I went, there were Häagen-Dazs but today, an apt replacement in the form of Movenpicks was available, and I promptly chose chocolate, strawberry (yes, more strawberries), tiramisu and Vanilla. On a warm Sunday afternoon, my friends and I went for some Japanese hotpot at the Nikko Hotel in East Tsim Sha Tsui. Many of you may or may not know of this gem of a hotel but it is definitely one of those classy places that one can overlook because it is in a hotel rather than a famous restaurant. Nevertheless, before I elaborate on the eating experience there, I would cut short of the chase and recommend 'Sagano' without hesitation.Once we got there, we did not have to wait. The staff is extremely polite and helpful, always with a welcoming smile and ever so courteous. They are elegantly dressed in traditional Japanese Kimonos and are able to converse in Japanese, Cantonese and English, all at an advance level. As they guided us to the room, as per Japanese customs, we left our shoes outside to enter a simple yet beautifully decorated room where we sat down. The room has a very authentic Japanese feel and induces a very relaxing effect on its occupants. I must add that it had a very exhilarating feel, where my friends and I could quietly enjoy a meal - the music was not too loud and we could just enjoy our conversation in this pleasantly quiet room.The food was brought in timely fashion and we started with vegetables and fish as our hors d'oeuvre:The bean sprouts was lightly cooked and retained much of its crispiness and freshness - it would be suitable for any vegetarian as well as non vegetarian who would appreciate this simple starter. The Spanish Mackerel that followed is a real treat because the fish preserves its tenderness without being too dry - it is all just right as the fish is juicy and crispy, having lost some of its fatty oil without losing the flavour. It is accompanied with some grounded radish to accompany the fish, to complement this delightful dish.The main course is the much celebrated aspect of this meal. We were having Shabu Shabu and my! That ranks as one of the best hot pots I have ever tasted: the beef served was pretty much high in meat content with practically no fat and the assortment of vegetables (mushrooms, cabbage and mochi) made the perfect accompaniment to the meat! The soup used is simple, but the beef together with the vegetables brought much stock that in the end, the leftover soup had a very good taste:As much as I am diverging from the description of this exquisite meal, the pleasant experience is priceless. Have you ever been in a hot pot place where the hot pot would take time to heat up and may sometimes overcook the meat? It never happened on the night because the clay hot pot used operates more efficiently and effectively and the meat and vegetables were cooked within minutes (less than 2 minutes actually). The beef and the vegetables tasted supremely delightful mainly because the beef was not too fatty and its freshness can be told immediately - they were not just out of the freezer but reached us at room temperature. Although I am not predominantly vegetarian, the mushrooms and cabbage were just right in the sense that they were also fresh, tasted better than the regular ones I can get my hands on in other hot pot places and blended fashionably with the beef.On a final note, I would recommend this place to anybody seeking a quiet but enjoyable time in a private setting, where they can expect great service and leave with the satisfaction of having a good meal as well as an enjoyable time - this place would suit couples, groups of friends, or family gatherings.…查看更多
