沒有用心煮的客家炆鴨
Wish House Hakka Chinese Restaurant
2012-06-02

My best friend's birthday and want to take her to try out this place that I had visited about a year ago. For lunch they have set lunch menu that included 4 dishes, soup and rice plus fruit. Dishes I think differ every day. For today's dishes we have Lotus roots with mushroom, Stir fried veg, Fried stuff beancurd, Stewed Egg plants. They all taste good and not too oily. My only complain is the portion of the dishes are smaller than it used to be and they will not allow you to refill soup and rice anymore. Actually each dish just like those Korean cold dishes that served before the main course! What worse is the price of each set has gone up to HK$93 per person as compare to HK$85() last March (just 10 months' ago!) You now pay 10% more and you get 70% full - not bad if you are a 70% Full believer VFM Sorry - definitely NOT! …Read More

My husband brought me to this restaurant around 1988 and since then we seldom visit until last month. This time he brought my son with him and they had their famous roasted pork and roasted sucking pig. We visited this restaurant 4 times within 1 month and every time we enjoyed their food. Sometimes you get the better part of meat sometimes you don't. Still the taste of the meat always good. The soup is good too. Service-wise I think it's OK and quite friendly. Definitely worth a try.…Read More

三記 has been serving their customers long before my family moved to this area some 13 years ago. We patronized them for many years and sad to say that they are failing to keep up with their food quality. This is especially so during our latest visits. To give them another chance we visit them again this evening. We ordered 1) steamed eel with black bean and garlic (size of the eel is sooooo tiny and hardly any big bite of meat!)2) deep fried oyster cake in egg & flour (extremely oily and with fewer oysters)3) stir-fried green vegie - again very oily and salty4) beancurb & fish soup - very saltyTo sum up, their dishes are quite oily and salty....... not too healthy these days... Putting pictures of celebrities on the wall won't help much, afterall the food quality is the most important factor keeping customers, especially regular customers. …Read More

3 of us we ordered 4 dishes: 西柚鮮蝦蒿麥麵, 多多海鮮蛋白炒飯, 煙三文魚菠菜忌廉汁長通粉 and one pizza with parma ham. The first one is very refreshing but the other 3 just OK. Overall the food was OK but pricewise, a bit expensive! Still worth a try!…Read More

My family wanted to have dim sum for breakfast last Sunday morning and there isn't many options here so we picked this restaurant. We were very surprised that there was no queue outside and could easily get a table. We ordered what we want in the dim sum list and wait for the food to come. It took 20 minutes for the 4 of the 6 dishes to arrive, just when we wanted to follow up our order. We ordered dumplings and buns and their taste is just average. Since we are too hungry we finished them quickly. Then another 20 minutes later we still did not see the last 2 dishes so we checked with one of the waitress. 3 minutes later she's back but was told that we only ordered 4 dishes!!! That's it we just have enough of their services and we just left. It costs us HK$100 for 4 dishes (2 small, one medium and 1 large)! Tea per person is HK$7!!!!! Double 88 only charges you HK$6 per person!! No wonder there isn't any queue outside and we are just one of those dummies that fell into the trap!!! If you think you have the money and time do go there otherwise I would rather go to Fairwood or Cafe de Coral upstair for breakfast, at least your stomach will be filled.…Read More

金禾茶餐廳

My sister and I went to have breakfast. We randomly chose this Tea 餐廳. There are not many Tea 餐廳 in Wo Che Shopping Center. We ordered breakfast set which contains egg, bread, macaroni with ham and tea. However their food were so disappointing! The size of the egg was really small and cooked with lots of oil, macaroni with ham in soup was tasteless. The cup of tea was not up to standard. Personally I think the cup of tea is the most important drink for Tea 餐廳, unfortunately theirs failed the test. Breakfast menu does not require any skill to cook well and if they can't even mater this, I don't think I'll have the confidence trying other dishes in their menu. …Read More

Expensive Dessert house
Food Republic
2009-07-26
After lunch at the Korean/Japanese restaurant we went to the Food Republic for Chinese dessert. There is only one shop for Chinese dessert and by looking at the food model we chose two: 楊枝甘露 ($22) and 腐竹意米白果 ($14). One word - watery. Found very little mango in the 楊枝甘露, mainly milky sweet water. 腐竹意米 same. In fact 腐竹意米 are very cheap ingredients why are they so stingy with them. Value for money? You to decide. No wonder people say the profit margin for Chinese dessert is huge. Definitely for this shop. But whether they can retain their customers is another story.…Read More

We ordered 3 dishes - 白汁煙肉奶油麵, 蝦意粉in tomato sauce, Hot pan 蘆筍 in butter and a cold 意粉 with tomato. We have been waited to be seated for over one hour so were very hungry so we placed our order as soon as we'd got our seats. A lady waiter took our order and gave us the order slip and said "please check if the order is correct" and then just walked away without waited for our reply!! . Unfortunately she did make a mistake by taking down a wrong order. So we waved for the waiters and then a young male waiter came over, took our order slip and said would amend our order. But the order slip did not come back. After about 10 minutes, feared that they might make another mistake and we might never be fed I waved at the waiters again to make sure that they had our order. Five minutes later the first 3 dishes came. 白汁煙肉奶油麵 - very creamy and they mush have put a lot of full cream and butter - very fatty蝦意粉in tomato sauce - quite good but I was wondering if they use fresh tomato because the colour was not that naturalHot pan 蘆筍 in butter - quite good but size is too small and oilyAfter we had consumed the 3 dishes, the cold 意粉 was still not arrived so we checked with the waiters if they had missed this order - one of the male waiters checked the computer terminal and said it should be here soon. 10 minutes went by the dish was still not arrived so we checked again. 10 minutes later it came. Since my friend had ordered the same dish at this restaurant before he found that it wasn't the same. So we checked with the photo in the menu and then with one of the male waiters - guess what this guy answered - without checking whatsoever he just said "it is correct, sometime the real dish looks different in the photos". Five minutes later another boy waiter came and told us they had given us a wrong dish - the dish was taken away half eaten!!! But the replacement did not serve immediately, instead we had to wait for over 5 minutes before the replacement dish appeared!!! No apology whatsoever...... If the shop manager or the head of the restaurant saw this food critic/comment - I want to tell you that your kitchen is doing fine and that's why your business is still blooming. But the shop manager is definitely not doing a good job and that's why we are being served by a bunch of inexperience waitress and waiters - they are just a bunch of part-time without any responsibility. Will I be going back again - probably not. Can't image being served by the same boy waiter. He is a joke to me and among my friends.…Read More

Disappointed lunch buffet
Café Kool
2009-07-25
I've been to Cafe Kool couples of time and thought is was good. I still remember their instant grilled lamb chop, so yummy. So it's Mom's 81st birthday and she chose this place for a lunch get-together. It turned out to be a very disappointing meal because the food standard are a lot lot lot lot lower than it used to be.....Salad is ok but it was not Grandma and Grandpa's cup of tea...Cold sea-food, as other writers commented - tasteless. Hot meal - sweet and sour spare rib - very hard and sour... Roast duck, same... although you can order food at the spot you can tell that the meat are frozen meat and tasteless after cooked. Curry - their curry is no good too, no surprise at all. I can tell that they are using very low quality frozen meat for the s&s spare rib and roast duck. Pasta - very badly cooked - they just mixed and heat the ingredient for you.... Dessert - the italian cheese cake - tasteless but luckily they have apple pie which is quite good with ice cream. Fruit - not much of a choice, no berries at least. The only impression you get from this meal is the hotel or the restaurant is trying very hard to cut down the cost and still they are charging you $258 per head. I don't think it is fair and so you can decide whether you want to jump into this trap or not. With this money I think you have a lot of choices. BTW, service wise - it is getting worse too. All my good impression about this restaurant has gone forever. …Read More

No wonder they have so many crying faces

My sister asked me to go to this place for breakfast this morning - she said she was there before and quite OK. We ordered 3 breakfasts from their menu. Making a good cup of HK style Milk Tea is very important for a restaurant if you want to continue your business. Unfortunately their milk tea did not pass the test. Then came my macaroni with sausage in tomato soup- but there was no trace of tomato in my macaroni.... I thought may be the sausage was made of tomato and started to eat ... the macaroni is over-cooked, the soup tasteless as well as the sausage. Then I looked at the menu again and saw "tomato soup" - it should be in tomato soup but they gave me clear soup What's wrong with their kitchen? It was only 10am and they were already dreaming aroundI told the waitress and she said to gave me a replacement but I declined. I believe the rent there is very expensive... I hope the restaurant owner realizes that only good food makes customers coming back - there are not many first-time customers after all.And there are always reasons for so many crying faces …Read More

Oliver's Super Sandwiches

We had a very disappointed breakfast at that restaurant on Mother's Day Sunday. We ordered two breakfast - sausage & scramble egg with mushroom and sausage/bacon & scramble ege with salmon. The service was very slow and when the food finally got to our table they looked dry and dull - the egg and the sausage were tasteless and the salmon smell fishy!!!! I don't think the price is cheap for one breakfast (plus $6 for a cup of OJ!!) and I am sure with the same amount of the money I can get a better quality of food. I must say even Cafe De Coral's breakfast sometimes cook better than this restaurant. Inconsistent and inexperience staff doing the cooking will definitely turn your customers away. One good thing about this restaurant (nothing to do with their food though) is the sitting area outside the restaurant. Quite nice when the hour is early.…Read More

First time visit and they are having a Mamma Mia Italian set lunch promotion with different choices of main course. The set lunch includes either soup of the day or green salad , one main course, dessert and coffee or tea.We ordered two main courses - Linguini pasta with smoked duck breast in white sauce and grilled salmon with penne in fresh tomato sauce. Both tasted good, especially the grilled salmon and the tomato sauce, really fresh. Both pasta cooked "al dente" With the food quality and service the meals were good for value! The sitting arrangement is very comfortable and maybe not a lot of people aware of this place so you like dinning at a private club (at least for the moment!) …Read More

典型港式西餐
Yeh Lam Kok Restaurant

We order two set dinners: 黑椒汁紐西蘭肉眼扒鐵板餐 (rib eye steak) - we asked for 70% cooked HK$57羊排焗蟹蓋鐵板餐 (lamb chop with stuff crab shell) HK$57First came the soup - not too bad and served hot. Then the main course. Well they were really disappointing - both of the dishes served with black pepper sauce and it was very salty and they put too much on them. The rib eye steak does not taste like steak at all- maybe it's the problem with the 鬆肉粉!! And it was cooked 90%!The lamb chop and the stuff crab shell was no better than the steak as well - only two small pieces of lamb chop and 2 tiny crab shells which was stuffed with "don't know what" in side and baked. If you have a small appetite than the portion is OK. You can taste that they are lamb but too salty because of the sauce.Lastly the drink - we ordered iced coffee - just average or even below standard if you are a fan of Pokka Cafe's coffee!!!Overall, the food quality of the two dinner sets was not up to my standard, not to mention how much they charged for them. Felt thirsty after these meals. Definitely will not re-order these dishes again. The cafe also serves other meal below HK$40 for dinner but without soup and drink - if I re-visit I may order these meals so as to minimize my "losses". Afterall you just don't have many choices dinning at Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre!!…Read More
