Hola! That's how I was warmly greeted when I came in.

33  cafe y mucho mas is a small little cafe at the very end of the Haven Street area of Causeway Bay. This place has been here for at least a couple of years and I had wanted to eat here for quite a while but was a bit intimidated. Why? I wasn't sure what exactly was Columbian food.  I wanted someone to go with me, but no one ever was willing. So, on this weekend, I decided to just roll up my sleeves and saunter in. Why not? I need a little foodie adventure! Try a place I haven't been to and a cuisine I've never tried.

The cafe is small with outside seating. It's colorful with a bright blue colored tables and yellow walls. Just like the colorful buildings that are found in all the photos of Columbia.

Menu is in English only. But they do have a server who speaks Cantonese and is very helpful in any questions you have about the food. There is no 10% service charge.

Pulled Beef and Cheese Arepas ($68). I decided on an arepa which is a popular in Columbia and found every where. Made  of maize (cornflour), they are small and flat and usually grilled. They can be eaten just as or sometimes stuffed with something. Or in this case, like a sandwich. As these are made to order, there is a 20 minute wait so be patient as patience will bring you joy. Though small (but it was fine for lunch for me anyways), this was amazing. Now, I know why people are addicted to these. The arepa was soft and warm. The pulled beef was moist and full of flavor. The cheese was gooey. The addition of salsa was a good balance for the heavy beef and cheese flavors, giving that bit of freshness.

Latte ($45). The coffee was a decent Columbian brew.  Sweet and nutty, this was comforting. A coffee type I grew up with in Canada.

A great little place with friendly staff and good food. I'll be back definitely! And try even more food from them.
