My friend from Australia was in HK, and we decided to check out this place after reading so many positive reviews about this little green tea galore. Being both lovers of green tea, this sounded the place to be! Located very close to Sheung Wan MTR station- within two minutes walk which was really convenient- and sitting on the fifth floor of an easily-recognisable building, it seemed quite a snug fit for probably a maximum of thirty customers at once? We arrived around 11:45am on a Tuesday morning, meaning that they had just began their daily hours of operation. My friend ordered a Matcha Mojito ($42) and I ordered a Matcha Genmaicha Marone ($32). However, we couldn't resist each trying the Matcha Lava Cake ($68, I think?) too, as it looked too seductive (hehe
)! The lady informed us that we would have to wait about 30 minutes for the lava cake, which was completely fine since we had nothing planned for the rest of the day.

After a few minutes of catching up and gossiping, my friend's Matcha Mojito arrived. I took a sip- there was a strong kick from the lime soda and mint, however, you could barely taste the green tea in the drink. And about 15 minutes later, the Matcha Lava Cakes were brought to the table- and boy were they enticing and seductive as ever!! Accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream and dusted with a little bit of matcha green tea powder, my friend eagerly dug her spoon into the centre of the cake. The warm, green, gooey centre flowed out from inside the cake and conversed with the, already, melting vanilla ice cream. After the first bite, we devoured the little platter of goodness in no time!

Halfway through enjoying the Matcha Lava Cake, my Matcha Genmaicha Marone arrived, and I drank a bit- the Genmaicha flavour was quite strong, and the top was quite frothy, topped with shredded walnuts (I think?). It was a very heart-warming and delicious drink indeed.

All in all, I can probably say that our experience at Sinmei Tea today was really great, and we can both agree that we will be back really soon to try some more of what this little tea house/cafe has to offer. Can't wait!!
