To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. I was told that Tim Ho Wan is a must try for tourists much like myself. So I decided to go around noon on Sunday. I was warned about the wait, but I decided to go anyways. Surprisingly, I only waited for 30 minutes or so.Tim Ho Wan owns the title of being the cheapest Michelin star restaurant in the world. It’s true… I ordered 8 dishes and paid 20 USD. Tim Ho Wan owns the title of being the cheapest Michelin star restaurant in the world. It’s true… I ordered 8 dishes and paid 20 USD. You can’t ask for a better price than that. If you don’t mind the wait, it’s a great place to eat. Not just for tourists… The congee to me was the most memorable as I am not a fan of their signature dishes, such as the pineapple bun and vermicelli roll. It was not too thick and not to watery. Unlike other places in HK, the congee was also not doused with msg.
