Sanxilou is one of the go to places for expats as well as locals in the Central area. Although not really convenient in terms of location (I suggest you take a cab as it is located on Mcdonnell road, a residential area in Mid levels), it's worth the trip. Prices are "Central" standard so you will be paying a premium as compared to eating in Kowloon/New Territories. We ordered quite a few dishes, including stir fried chicken, soup, dan dan noodles, and sliced fish in chili oil. The dan dan noodles were pretty well flavored with chewy noodles, the stir fried chicken was cooked pretty good but nothing to shout about. The star of the meal was the sliced fish in chili oil. The fish was amazingly tender and the oil it say in was very well flavored…very fragrant with the "Sichuan" type of spice infused, which was perfect with a bowl of white rice. The restaurant itself it pretty plain, like any other Hong Kong restaurant but the food is well worth the trek. Will come for more.
