So, on this day, boyfriend and I decided to do dim sum at a favorite among many local families. Cheers Restaurant is part of the huge Tao Heung company. These guys have immense deals for everything and there are always people waiting in line to dine in.

This branch is located inside Windsor. Perhaps as it's not that known, I can usually find a table rather easily. We ordered a number of dishes. Menu are on pieces of paper that you check off. Everything is in Chinese.

Pumpkin Cakes. We were a bit taken aback when we this came. It was green in color though the menu said pumpkin. But when we bit into them, they were the pumpkin orange color was there. Just the coating was green. It appeaered they coated it in a green coating that really didn't do anything to the dish. It tasted ok though a bit dry.

Apple Tarts. This was an odd item we ordered as we were curious if they were really apple tarts. And yes, they were. Puff pastry cups with apple pie filling that tasted like the apple pie filling you find in a McDonald's apple pie. I like McDonald's apple pie so this was ok for me. Boyfriend didn't like it.

Steamed Rice Rolls Three Ways. What you get here is three rice rolls with three different fillings: shrimp, beef and pork. A pretty good idea for those groups that want different rice rolls and forced to only choose one or two. The rice roll skin was a bit thick but the filling was ok.

Dumplings Two Ways. This included two shrimp dumplings and two Chiu Chow peanut spinach dumpling. Another pretty good item for those that want to sample two different dim sum without ordering the regular four set of each. Good for smaller groups of like two people. The dumplings were pretty tasty though the Chiu Chow peanut spinach dumpling had too much peanut for me to like.

Spare Ribs and Chicken Feet. Dim sum never complete without chicken feet. Simply my favorite dim sum item. This was combined with spare ribs. Both tasted pretty good and had tofu puffs on the bottom to soak up all the juicy oil.

Deep Fried Beancurd Sticks. These had a shrimp filling and was much too oily for me to eat. Boyfriend was happy with the fried element in our dim sum meal.

Abalone Congee. The congee was tasty. Not too thick and not too watery. There was a decent amount of abalone slices.

Steamed Char Siu Bao. My other favorite dim sum item. Dim sum is never complete in my world without ordering this. Though these were a bit disappointing as the filling was miniscule and the bun was too wet and not fluffy enough.

Average dim sum but fairly inexpensive. We ordered all this and only paid $220. You pay at the cashier. The service, however, was pretty horrible. We ordered a dish (quail egg siu mai) and it never came. We asked several waiters and each one never got back to us. Finally out of frustration, I complained to the head staff who got back to me after a while with an apology that they had just run out. If they had run out, they should have informed us immediatlely instead of having us sit for 2 hours wondering and asking what has happened to our order. Frustrated! Sad that this is the closest Tao Heung near me ... so I usually return.
