Bday dinner. They said the Admiralty branch was better than the tst one. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to either. When I arrived, they have ordered already (I wasn’t late- they were early) and nibbling on the XO sauce. They said it’s the best in town.Ordered a variety of appetizers, like crispy eel, 糖醋排骨, 蔥油海蜇頭, 雞絲粉皮. Not bad.清炒河蝦- not bad. Fresh and 爽口Then came the 片皮duck with pancake. There was no meat and fat whatsoever left; only thin crispy skin- which was perfect for the bday gal.

Then came the 片皮duck with pancake. There was no meat and fat whatsoever left; only thin crispy skin- which was perfect for the bday gal. I however preferred some meat. The pancake was nice tho- thin but strong.

崧子雞叉子餅- I liked. The pine nuts tasted very fresh and crunchy- none of that oily taste you got with some places. Meat was well seasoned, but not too salty. 叉子餅 was warm and crunchy. We didn’t have enough of the 叉子餅 to absorb all the meat but we used the leftover pancake from the duck. Tasted equally good.

火腿津白- ok
小籠包- no good. The skin of every one burst open with the sauce dripping away no matter how carefully we tried to pick one up.

蔥香鮑魚撈麵- hilight of the night. Abalone came with the shells, big but not chewy. Noodles were of perfect texture, soaking up the fragrance of the spring onions and soy sauce.

The next highlight of the nite was the 八寶飯, with a candle stuck on it, doubling as the bday cake. Must be one of the best ive tasted. Crispy and thin. Bday gal recalled the one from Shanghai club being too thick and soft. I concurred.

In summary: good food. Prob wd come back to try other dishes, eg beef ribs. Not ideal for big gatherings tho esp with the covid restrictions- quite difficult to hear what ppl at the other end of the table were saying.
