剛剛安坐好, 給我們倒好飲品後, 店員就捧著一籃子麵包前來讓我們邊吃邊選擇餐牌。滿滿一籃的自家出品, 每款餅食都烤得金黃香馥, 吸引極致, 分別有香草軟包芝士棒方型脆餅。本身喜歡較香口的, 所以選了芝士捧跟香草軟包, 芝士棒十分脆口, 芝士鹹香味也挺香濃, 叫人吃上癮的不停口; 香草軟包則十分鬆軟, 恰到好處的香草味道, 假如能配上一碗暖湯那就更完美了。而重點是麵包是無限制的添加, 隨時隨地都可以著店員為我們送上, 不過當巡視過豐盛的沙律吧時, 麵包索求的份量難免要作出決擇。

貴為意大利餐廳, 餐牌自然地也流露了家鄉的特色: 意大利文, 幸好意大利文下還有英文的詮譯。晚餐Menu分有兩個: Live Lobster SpecialChef Special Dinner, 雖然目測到有顧客點上那令人垂涎萬分的大Lobster餐, 可惜價錢半隻$388, 全隻$578, 有點奢侈呢, 所以還是把龍蝦擱置。

Antipasto + Primo Piatto $298; Antipasto + Secondo Piatto $388; Antipasto + Primo Piatto + Secondo Piatto $468。Antipasto即前菜, 任挑任吃的自助沙律吧亦是當中的主角; Piatto是主菜, 意大利人的Primo Piatto通常是以澱粉質為主, 而Secondo Piatto則以肉類、海鮮為主。選擇具彈性且豐儉由人, 而大多數都是選擇Antipasto加一個主菜最適合不過, 除非真是一個不折不扣的大胃王, 否則不會跟美味的Antipasto過不去。

點好主菜後, 當然是興奮地走到自助沙律吧前, 雖然選擇未稱得上是多樣化, 亦不及同鄉Sabatini的Semi Buffet琳瑯滿目, 但精緻品質跟陣容絕不比酒店的遜色。唯一不足之處: 假如每款前菜沙律都加設有名牌, 好讓食客了解和作出選擇, 那就更盡善盡美了!

當中我最喜愛的火腿也有三、四款選擇, 必選的除了濃味的沙拿美腸外, 亮點就必定是Parma Ham Melon, 火腿片大塊的程度毫無吝嗇之感, 雖然風乾程度跟鹹香味未算是上盛的級別, 不過當與果汁豐盈的甜美哈蜜瓜同吃, 那種滋味滿足確實不言而喻, 當然要吃上數塊才能罷休。

煙三文魚一整碟的放在角落, 那充滿油潤感的顏色, 像是向我招手般, 不是碎碎屑屑的狀態, 而是一大片完整的, 讓人吃得開懷, 煙燻的味道確實美味, 令人迷上的味道, 比起五星酒店還要有質素的水準, 只是後悔沒有多吃幾片而已。

Orecchiette即是常稱的貓耳朵粉或小殼粉, 於大型超市或專賣意大利食材的店鋪才較常見的澱粉質類。半彎的造型小巧可愛, 質感煙韌彈牙帶點黏稠, 充滿口感, 同時也挺飽肚。選用大號去殻的蝦肉, 兩邊均煎得金黃香口, 肉質十分彈牙入味, 實為不俗。
加上西蘭花跟煮過的洋蔥粒和麵包糠, 入口很有中式味道, 猶如用XO醬、蒜粒般炒過的香氣, 令整體味道很鮮明惹味, 頗有驚喜的意式中國化。

這款Primo Piatto是店方的推介, 而且標榜當中的帶子是從市場新鮮的運來, 所以要額外多加$68。帶子兩邊煎得金黃, 熟成度也是剛好的程度, 鮮甜而彈牙, 大隻飽滿誘人, 可惜只有兩隻, 加上要額外加錢的關係, 令性價比顯然略低一點。
意粉煮得軟硬適中又分明, 恰到好處的彈牙, 紮實的口感讓人滿足, 加上橄欖油、煙肉碎和香口的炸蒜, 香氣不容置疑, 超好吃的一道, 只是份量方面比想像的少, 僅能讓味蕾淺嚐。

吃意大利菜自不然要點上一碟Risotto來。
意大利飯軟硬適中, 同時亦帶有嚼口, 黏稠和濕潤度均令人滿意, 具有一定的質素水準。醬汁稀稠度控制得十分理想, 只是當中的酒味較為明顯濃烈, 稍稍掩蓋了應有的香濃味, 以致入口難免帶微微苦澀味。海鮮配料有蜆肉跟青口, 雖然體積未算是大隻, 不過肉質鮮甜彈牙具質感, 也是叫人滿意。

鱸魚表面看似稍稍煎過, 不過當吃下時那介乎煎與蒸的質感, 反而不夠分明, 蒸的話又不夠滑, 煎的話又不夠香, 有點兩頭不到岸之感, 加上魚肉稍為嚡身, 令這碟主菜略為遜色。 縱然伴碟的蕃茄、酸豆的清酸起到提味作用, 亦只能為味道上增取分數。

訂座時刻意安排了朱古力生日牌 (+$20), 店員都非常合作把這份神秘保留到最後一刻。金牛座的小花邊嚷著很老土, 但身體卻誠實地跟朱古力拍照合照 (哈~!!)。

令人津津樂道而又欲罷不能的沙律吧, 就是叫人再回來的動力。縱然一手從意大利引入Cova來港的兩兄弟賣盤, 使這家意大利經典最後逃不過給本土最大規模的飲食集團收購的命運, 但在我心目中, Cova始終是Cova, 一個名牌的代詞, 一個經典的傳奇, 收購後並不代表那光環隨之而破滅, 變成落入凡間的俗套, 隨手拈來的質素, 因為大器始終是既有的煉成, 寄望收購後品質仍能保持一貫的氣派, 不要讓忠粉失望啊!!

以前覺得COVA是定位較高的西餐廳,現在百物騰貴,它的價錢相對變得親民多了。幾年沒來,這分店可以說是老店吧,但絲毫感覺不到歲月留在它身上的痕跡,看不出什麼東西變舊了,餐廳還是有着一貫高尚光鮮的氛圍。桌上早已佈置好餐具,雖然平時沒怎麼講究餐桌禮儀,但看着這種稍為正統的排場也染上了要優雅用餐的情緒。午餐選了Antipasto+Secondo Piatto($298)的組合,Antipasto中必選Traditional & Classic Italian Antipasti from Buffet!每次來COVA正是為了享受半自助餐的形式,既可滿足眼球讓自己看見喜歡的就去取,又有廚師為你準備即點即做的主菜,不用跟別人分享,不用怕好吃的部份被搶光。自取的食物近乎全是冷盤,食物前沒有標出名稱,自行理解大概有煙三文魚、輕煎吞拿魚、蛋餅、多士、風乾火腿、沙律及各種醃製或經過調味的蔬菜。說實在的,這些食物買回來後不需多花功夫就能直接給客人食用,好不好吃就看選用的食材質素了。自取食物吃了兩盤,一盤是重鹹味為主的食物,比如煙三文魚與風乾火腿。食物質素較為平民,沒有份外鮮味,大概在一般超市也能買到差不多的

自取食物吃了兩盤,一盤是重鹹味為主的食物,比如煙三文魚與風乾火腿。食物質素較為平民,沒有份外鮮味,大概在一般超市也能買到差不多的質素。雖然自取食物未見出色,但並非質素差,綜合價錢、環境、服務,以半自助餐來說,我還是感覺值得。

另一盤則是用來中和鹹味,比如各種醃製過的蔬菜、沙律、多士。全場非冷盤的食物只有碟子中央的茄子,但也不是很熱的食物,但至少用上發熱燈來保溫。這盤食物中最喜歡酸蒜,非常爽的口感,咬起來牙關格格作響,酸味把生蒜尖銳的味道大大磨平,吃了整整一個蒜頭口裡也沒有難聞的味道。

另一個主菜點了Roasted Salmon配上幾片薯仔與蘆筍,薯仔半軟柔韌,全面封上醬汁,既惹味,口感又讚。墊在三文魚底下的蘆筍很柔軟,不知道是否因為悶在魚底下把它薰軟了,加上吸滿汁液,清新又有豐富的味道。

三文魚不用加錢卻比牛柳更好吃,肉裡魚汁多,表皮微脆帶着咸香,質素達中上,然而尚欠一點鮮甜,內部的魚肉也偏淡,需要自行灑鹽與黑胡調味。

由於我不喜歡口感軟棉棉的蛋糕,詢問侍應哪一款不屬於海棉蛋糕,還有餅底要硬的,他說可以選Blueberry Cheese或Mascarpone Cheese With Mango,感覺芝士跟芒果格格不入,最終選了Blueberry Cheese。我以為餅底就是一般的American Cheese Cake,一口咬下去才發現軟得奇怪,試着去形容就像Mousse與Jelly的結合,不是說好硬的嗎,侍應叔叔你對硬的理解是不是有什麼誤會(〒︿〒) 不能說這個蛋糕做得不好,雖然我不喜歡它的質感,但是芝士味道確實做得出色,又香又濃,這味道要是能轉到American Cheese Cake可是不得了。至於面頭的藍莓,寫這篇的時候連藍莓本來應有的味道都想不起來,就像當時沒吃過,可以想像它的味道普通得令人毫無印象。

花四百多元吃一頓午餐說不貴是假的,但我認為來COVA吃東西並不是單單注重食物,而是享受它的整個配套。在百忙中慢吃一頓,我們逗留三個多小時也沒有被侍應以身體語言驅趕,在啡黃偏暗的燈光下,以齊全的西餐具用餐,感受環境的氛圍,這樣的消費偶爾來一次是不錯的。反過來說多來也無利,這裡的食物以相同價格水平又不難找到比它好,來多了食物以外的東西就沒那麼吸引了,而且某位侍應給人感覺有輕度強迫症,有一些又不太樂意服務,可hea則hea,這次是久久沒來才給個好評,要是短時間再來對食物以外的東西沒那麼享受了,頂多是給個OK。

The spaghetti and crab meat were fresh but slightly tasteless (please add salt to your dish...). The truffle tortellini was much better overall and hit the spot.

I regretted so much not stuffing myself with the antipasti... The main courses didn't arrive until an hour later!! The service was incredibly disappointing, we had to ask for water refill three times until it finally came... If we have to wait for an hour for the mains to arrive, it means the servers do not have much to do in between other than checking on the guests.



Finally the main course arrived, we only tried the seabass and beef tenderloin. Surprisingly the seabass came with a shrimp that wasn't stated on the menu. Luckily she wasn't allergic or anything. My friend commented it wasn't the fish wasn't marinated and the sauce didn't quite bring out the flavour of the fish.

We really looked forward to the dessert as this is what Cova has been famous for. As chocolate lovers, we really appreciated the intense dark chocolate flavour, but the cake was not sweet at all even after adding the icing sugar... It was such a strange experience that the berries on the side were way sweeter than the cake.

又來到筆者的生日, sis買了cova蛋糕回家慶祝. Wow, 是限定口味的開心果mousse蛋糕, 一磅裝(HK$380). 試一口, 開心果味挺濃郁的, 入口的口感尚算幼滑, 味道清新, 即使吃多數口也不會很膩, 因為是mousse的緣故吧? 但不知何解, 蛋糕似乎有丁點出水的情況, 入口有點不夠乾身, 像是過分濕潤似的, 有點美中不足. 又大一歲了, Happy birthday!

I visit the Cova in Central for lunch often and the service at this branch is definitely lacking behind that of both Causeway Bay and Central.  The staff told me and my friend that if we have no reservation the restaurant cannot serve us that night which we can understand.  However, another person walked in right after we did our inquiry and was seated right away.  We were only seated after I asked the staff again why was it ok for the lady to be seated without reservation and not the two of us.

補祝生日, 老公給我買了COVA蛋糕,是紅桑子蛋糕DOME AI LAMPONI ! 單看蛋糕紅當當的,真係唔洗食,淨係見到都夠開心!以為桑子會帶酸,但當桑子加上超軟綿綿的蛋糕及一點都不heavy 的奶油、那種微酸將整個蛋糕的味道提升了,讓人不停的吃了一片又一片,但那幾片白朱古力,sorry,太難吃了! 能用心把細節再做得好一點,品牌的力量才會提升。
