The E Plaza area of Kwun Tong is an interesting shopping center. On the bottom floor is a number of very cheap eateries serving very good value for money meals. If you come here at lunch, it's bustling and you'll find everything from bowls of noodles to hamburgers to pasta to even vegetarian meals. All for a good price.I decided to randomly try one of these places and that was 三食 (English name: Samsik). They serve basic Korean food. Mostly a bowl of noodles or rice and meat on top. While all the
I decided to randomly try one of these places and that was 三食 (English name: Samsik). They serve basic Korean food. Mostly a bowl of noodles or rice and meat on top.
While all the other places had lunch sets, this place didn't. They only offered a discount on a drink during lunch time. Menu is in Korean, English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. But then again, I've yet to find one restaurant in this whole shopping center to serve you 10%.
Along with noodles and rice, they have side dishes as well.
I decided to try something I've never tried before. That was something called a sujae ddeokgalbi. A Korean style hamburger patty. I chose the one with cheese in it for $88. This came with rice and a side of salad. It arrived on a mini wok. There was a generous portion of Korean rice topped with some sesame seeds. The salad greens were fresh and a lightly dresssed. And the sujae ddeokgalbi?
It was very flat and a bit on the salty side. So, rice is gratefully provided. I wanted cheese added but I guess upon heating up the patty, it melted away into the meat. The meat was juicy enough and not too bad. Though, yes, very salty.
For $88, I realized I was surrounded by places that cost a whole lot less. And if I had gone outside the mall, I would have gotten something a lot nicer for this price. For the price, it was a bit expensive for the environment. But for taste? It was not too bad. I liked it enough. So, I'll still rate it a smiley but give it a low rating for value for money.
