First off they don't take credit cards. So I had to leave and walk to Johnston Road to withdraw some money. I mean, it's 2015 and you're in the middle of Wan Chai, guys. We ordered the chicken sandwich, but had to change because they said they weren't "doing sandwiches today". Ok. Fine. So I had the omelette and my wife had the French toast along with two lattes. It was about a 15-minute wait, despite being the only two people in the cafe, neither the food nor drinks came together.
The omelette was pretty greasy. When I'd finished eating, the plate looked like when you take butter and grease a cake tin. There was also some red oak leaf lettuce on top, with a criss-cross pattern of mayonnaise, neither of which belong on or anywhere near an omelette. It was not very nice.
My wife's French toast was ok, the egg that came with it (again, random accompliment to French toast, a fried egg - seriously?) was actually cooked well.
The lattes were nice. Nice thick bit of foam on top, good temperature, nice size. Enjoyable.
The other thing that really topped this place off for me was the music would be interrupted by Spotify asking the user to update to Spotify Premium. I mean really guys, it's like $40 a month. How can you be playing adverts in your cafe.
It's a cosy space but it's so unprofessional, I would be surprised if the owner or manager have F&B backgrounds. I won't be back, not even for the coffee.
