As the cold and breezy winter time has come with Christmas fast approaching, what’s more fulfilling than having a nice Japanese buffet which can surely make your belly full and body warm. If you happen to visit Kaneda at night on weekends, just like what I did recently with my friend, an all-you-can-eat meal would cost HK$218 per person for two hours.
The grilled salmon sushi melted instantly in my mouth and was easily my recommendation of the night.
The sashimi plate filled with salmon, yellowtail, geoduck, sweet shrimp and cobia fillet was quite fresh.
The chicken soft bone, zucchini, mushroom yakitori and ox tongue were all well-grilled. It would have tasted even better if they were evenly salted.
Grilled oyster with cheese was creamy and smooth, but I have always preferred it to be deep-fried.
How could you not order tempura in a Japanese restaurant? Here’re the crispy prawn, crab meat and pumpkin tempura, served with a special dipping sauce.
The grilled lamb rack, not an uncommon dish on the menu of most Japanese all-you-can-eat restaurants in Hong Kong, was nicely seasoned and tasted reasonably well.
As a mushroom-lover, the pepper mushroom and scallop was one of my favorites.
Unfortunately, the rice cake with cheese, and deep-fried oyster fell slightly short of my expectations. Overall, Kaneda produced Japanese food of fairly decent quality, and I got to go home with a stuffed belly on an enjoyable night out.
