我們點了燒銀鱈魚套餐及中華冷麵。

跟餐的沙律尚算可口,茶碗蒸做得不錯,但作為前菜的銀鱈魚皮(或吞拿魚皮)則不敢恭維,半燒不脆地浸在七味奇妙醬,有點似在咀嚼橡膠。如不想浪費食材,提議把魚皮簡單燒香更好。

但一吃下去便很失望。首先,麵條不是中華麵(中華そば較幼和軟身的) 而是拉麵, 當然如果拉麵質素好則另當必論,但這拉麵很一般。期次,拉麵實在太硬了,完全沒有爽口的效果,難以下嚥。提議煮的時間長一點。

銀鱈魚套餐相比之下不錯。銀鱈魚份量頗多,燒得可以再香口一點,但總算不錯。

不是吹毛求疵,但煮味噌湯仍有頗多技巧的。最重要一點就如煮忌廉湯一樣,不能過熱,否則味噌會被煲散,味道會變得奇怪。這碗赤味噌湯受熱太過,味道古怪。

總括而言,兩份套餐半價($248)性價比已偏低,原價完全不可接受。恕不推介。

Since my temper has improved, I haven't written a post with a crying face for a long time. But unfortunately, this has to be the first one in a long while.

It's 50% off every Saturday so we decided to give it a try.

We finally arrived after wading through the crowd under the blazing sun. I was happy to see Hiyashi Chuka (cold noodles in ponzu sauce or cold sesame sauce) on the menu. However, seeing Hokkaido miso ramen, a type of ramen suitable for cold winters only, on the same page raised my suspicions.

The appetizer consisted of fish skin, probably salmon or taraba, with spicy mayonnaise. I could barely finish one. The texture was like chewing rubber.

No complaints about the salad and chawan mushi.

My noodle set came with assorted sashimi but we added $30 for the sashimi for the taraba set.

Sashimi: salmon, prawns and one piece of white bodied fish. Those were in the freezer for far too long. Those barely had any taste.

The Hiyashi Chuka looked decent enough. One can't really go wrong with such simple toppings. But after the first bite, I could barely finish it. The ramen (not chuka soba - which is a thinner and softer type of noodles) were ultra hard and were bland.

Even though some Japanese restaurants used ramen instead of chuka soba, they use really good quality ramen which wasn't the case here.

This set is clearly grossly overpriced.

Another set we had was a grilled taraba set. This was significantly better than my Hiyashi chuka. The fish was not bad.

The miso soup, however, was way overcooked. Similar to a cream soup, one is not supposed to bring it to a boil. Overcooked miso soup will lose all it's texture and that's what we got.

The rice didn't taste like authentic Japanese rice.

This set was a bit overpriced (even at half price).

The bill came down to $248 after 50% was given. Paying the full price for this quality of food is completely unimaginable. If we had to pay the full price for this meal, I would have awarded 0 mark.

Not recommended.

Ueda in the same building is far better.
