兩星期前,約了朋友見面慶祝她的生日。當晚她已有飯局,於是便約我大概十時見面。原來他們到了Le Tire Bouchon。我就在不太知情之下,早到了,成了電燈膽 (but that's another story)...去到時他們的主菜才吃到一半,兩人都點了鴨胸,看樣子還不錯,而且他們都說好吃。然後是甜品時間,基於天生為食並且本著「吃點東西好過齋坐」的心態,便點了蘋果撻(tarte de pomme),餐牌上寫著需時約二十分鐘。而朋友則點了crème brûlée法式燉蛋。照計兩樣都是大路貨色,堂堂一間歷史悠久的法國餐廳應該不會做錯,怎料...不消三分鐘,我們的甜品經已火速到達。心裡暗叫不妙。果然,我的蘋果撻一篤就散!放入口裡,竟然是凍的,是剛從冰箱拿出來的凍,實在無話可說。朋友的crème brûlée也是普普通通。想起來,對上一次來已經是十年八年前的事了。那時候的水準高很多,如今跌watt,真的有點可惜。

係佢地係奧俾理街小小兩層鋪到而㗎大大間... 分別真係大!小小間嘅年代自己都係細細個... 當時係認為好好味... Foie Gras apple sauce 係極品!!Sea Bass 都好.. 有時有啲seasonal 特別嘢....上幾個星期特登約人嚟再試吓.. sigh 無mug 人, 個menu 無improvement... Foie Gras 唔同咗sauce 但差咗... 鵝肝一塊煎得香一塊煎得唔香,但係係同一隻碟... 咁都得?樣樣都無以前咁好嘅, sea bass 唔再出色伴碟菜好淡... 唔通我係道美化自己啲記憶... 定係食多咗要求多咗?今次兩個人食咗: Foie Gras,Escargots in Garlic Butter,牛排 mushroom sauce, sea bass. 一支white wine, Coffee... ng...見都佢地成日無人幫親會唔會執粒㗎 :s

Le Tire Bouchon has a rustic old world feel and serves reasonably authentic french brasserie cuisine. Interiors are large and feels homely. When we went, it was very quiet though even for a weekend night.They make their own sausages and some of it was a little too gamey for my taste especially the tripe ones.Appetizers were truly delicious, with the scallops being my favorite. Main courses were also good but not as impressive as the appetizers. DOn't get be wrong, it was tasty but it did also feel not very complex and simple seasoning was used. If you are looking for modern french, some foam, innovative fusion sauce, this is not the place. The food is simple and hearty. It was good enough for me warrant a second trip.

1 June 2007 (Fri) - 晚飯這晚我應承朋友請佢食飯,因為隔幾天是他的生辰,本來我打算選擇地點,怎料他郤說由得來選,我事前己叫他不要選太貴的,怎料最後埋單都過千元,真的肉赤死我!餐廳燈光芬暗,氣氛不俗,環境看似略舊,也覺得去!其實原本這間法國餐廳的set dinner都不是太貴,但是這朋友是那種晚餐必喝酒的人,所以點了一支$380大元的紅酒,而set dinner 則是$245一位,有3 courses,再加一支perrier,要$60大元,再加一就過千了...set dinner 頭盤我揀了soup of the day,而朋友揀了蝦沙律,main course我揀了salmon,朋友揀了rib eye steak,dessert我揀了mixed fruit,朋友揀了chocolate pudding with strawberry,其實所有餐都是我揀的,因為朋友的胃口不大,所以多數選了的都是我吃為多,亦正因如此,他亦叫我替他選擇!我的餐湯是pumpkin soup,好正,好濃,有南瓜溶在內,所以很是飽肚!友人的蝦沙律也很不俗,除了蝦,還有魷魚圈及青口,但是青口居然有殼在內,朋友都把some of them 吐出,除此之外,都沒有大問題!main course我的魚很是好味,又滑,牛油味好重,但並不膩!朋友的肉眼扒非常正!叫了medium rare,很出色,煎得很淋,份量亦不俗,值得推介!最後的甜品就略為遜色,兩樣都麻麻,但是以他們絕頂的main courses,我也可以給這餐廳笑面!紅酒,我不大懂,但是這麼貴的,一定不會差...在此再祝朋友生日快樂,但是希望下年能為我的荷包著想,我並不似他般有錢...

A nice restaurant with comfortable, quiet & romantic setting. We ordered a soup and the scallop salad for appetizer. The salad had quite a lot scallops and tasted quite good. For the main course, we ordered salmon, which tasted really good. And my friend ordered duck, which was good too. We ordered some cheese and the fruit desert. They’ve some really good cheese. The presentation of the fruit desert was lovely. Service is really good; they always have a smile on their face. Would be a nice place to take a girl on the first date and try to impress her.
