There were rumours going around that various famous street stalls in North Point were closing down soon, so my family and I decided to pay all of them a visit while they are still around. One of them was the famous egg waffle place which everyone refers to as simply 北角雞蛋仔. It seems like everyone’s caught on with the news so we had to wait a good 15 minutes in line.. They are pretty efficient though, with only one lady operating 4 pans. If you can see the monstrous amount of batter around the machines, that shows how busy they are (since they don’t have time to clean it up after each batch) As famous as the store is, the waffle isn’t actually that expensive at $15 each. It comes steaming hot fresh out of the pan! -To be honest, the only admirable thing about the egg waffles would be the texture. It was a perfect balance of a very crunchy outside and a fluffy exterior.
-As for the taste, it wasn’t too sweet but it also could be a lot more eggy. Since they didn’t use the traditional charcoal stove it lacked some smokiness as well. Look at how all the batter is condensed on one side which I think gives it that awesome texture. A wonderful snack on a cold day! ^_^
