森及茶 (荔枝角)

It seems to be a very new shop, facing the main street of Cheung Sha Wan Road occupying less than half of a normal sized store. Spotted a few EN typo on their menu but struggled if to tell them or not.....


Anyway


Ordered Hot Taro Milk without sugar, the shop keeper said they don’t do sugar adjustment when they’re busy but since it was quiet at the time they were able to do so this time(I’d argue it’s best if they do ALL THE TIME, the sugar consumption of a normal HK diet is bad enough already..)


Despite the “no sugar” option, the drink itself is already sweet enough, it’s slightly sweeter than normal full milk, guessing it’s from the pre-cooked sweetened taro purée, milk to purée ratio was fine, I’d hope for a bit more taro purée but also fine as it is. The taste of taro was obvious and natural With the drink it also has 2 kinds of mini taro balls, with a slight hint of sweetness and pleasantly chewy, with a natural mild scent of taro.


Overall I’m pleasantly surprised, what’s most important to me was that the drink tastes natural, and not heavily sweetened. Volume was not as much as the Starbuck’s grande sizes like many other shops do(which is good), and for the price of $30, I’d say it’s a very nice little dessert drink after a long day.


They say it’s a Winter special, so not sure when it’d be taken off the menu, for sure would like to have it again before the Winter ends!

Boomshack (中環)

went there in the afternoon, there was just a few customers
we took the centre table with tall chairs

the atmosphere is relaxing and funky, with american graphics and signs everywhere
we are particularly astonished by the beautiful comic style menu and containers that used to serve food

ordered a chicken & waffle combo, a burger, deep fried beetroot, deep fried cheese balls, an ice cream taco and banana nutella wafflethe burger..i have to say it is a bit disappointing, the beef patty isn't beefy, and cheese isn't cheesey really, it just doesn't strike you as "yum", it's a bite of disappointment..

didn't take the picture of the chicken & waffle, the chicken is nicely deep fried, luckily, but I don't fancy eating sweet waffle with salty chicken, for me they doesn't seem to go together
but nonetheless they tastes fine separately, the waffle is soft and sweet, with a nice scent of egg, and the chicken is moist and tenderdeep fried cheese balls is goodhot and molten, with rich taste of milky salty cheese, it's a nice satisfying snackdeep fried beetroot is good too, the sweetness of the beetroot is retained, with a nice crisp at the outside, and a sense of healthiness, and I really like the colour of beetroot, absolutely likablethe banana nutella waffle is really..ordinary, can be a lot better
the waffle is the soft kind, i prefer crispy ones but, it's fine this way
but the amount of nutella is too little to enhance or elevate this desert, as for the banana, they weren't at the best time to eat i guess, a bit too raw for the taste of banana to be strong to be delectable

didn't take picture of the ice cream taco either, and it wasn't as good as i have anticipated, it tastes like ordinary nestle ice cream cone, the vanilla ice cream tasted artificial, the taco was crispy but just not as good as i thought

overall, we were quite disappointed, may not visit again

咖啡弄 (尖沙咀)

一直都好想試咖啡弄..想左成年都仲未去到^^"
然後終於的起心肝去排隊!

排左9個字到,同fd傾下計咁時間都幾快過

4個人叫左4個main加多一個waffle等人齊嗰陣嗌左野飲先, 當然要試下水果茶
侍應俾左兩隻好得意既杯我地杯底尖出黎好似不倒翁咁碌黎碌去好好玩
好好飲!!果茶好香甜,帶點酸,好合理地多冰,因為杯茶好濃,每一啖都好...."給力"
都幾多水果, ok好食啦,醃菠蘿超級甜,我諗都係用黎調味instead of就咁食牛角包好香好脆,放左一陣先食依然咁脆配上醬汁同脆煙肉粒好好味,反而肉好似唔太特別
side既沙律就平平無奇豬扒三文治只可以話ok,豬扒似係豬肉製成既扒而唔係豬扒肉,不過係好台式既,淡淡豬肉味,帶少少肉汁,普普通通, 而蛋沙津都好普通,無咩蛋味,同埋一定要配埋淋喺上面既既few drizzle of mayonnaise先好食最遠既係咖喱飯,好似好少人嗌,但其實係5樣最好食既
咖喱好香,都幾辣,食完之後嗰陣"回辣"都幾哽
牛腩好林,好入味,但份量好少

後加既總匯三文治無影相,嗰陣無哂薯片,換左蛋沙津
呢個似多高級啲既公司三文治,都比較普通後上既strawberry waffle, 雪糕幾好味,custard無乜味
waffle好厚實,好飽肚,但無乜蛋香,唔太鐘意

埋單每人150,食到好飽,侍應服務好好熱心又勤力
上菜好快好有效率,如果唔洗排好耐既都幾值得黎
已經好掛住杯水果茶!!

Le Café de Joël Robuchon (尖沙咀)

spent $88 on an icecream, it better be good...

at first I was attracted by its look, you know, flowers are always the girls' killer

I didn't imagine how the flower would look like, just chose what we wanted to eat


I have to say..the chocolate icecream looked very very very, very unappealing and it tastes bad too, it is too bitter and a bit sour, it is my least favourite chocolate icecream I have eaten so far

but the strawberry is good, sweet and fresh and with proper strawberry sourness

and for the cone..it is crispy, but the taste of it isn't good, not eggy and I felt like it is a bit burnt in the process of baking

conclusion....? just get yourself a regular icecream

Shake'em Buns (中環)

the place is small and cozy, and warm with its nicely American decorations

we waited for a little while for our seats and ordered a burger combo to share, 'cause we weren't that hungry, though the place is filled with the smell of grill from the open kitchen

we had a burger with added American cheese, caramelized onions and mushrooms, with a regular combo, that's fries and drinks



the cheese melted very nicely but its taste didn't stand out as much as I would have hoped

the mushrooms and onions was fine, soft and salty, and the fries were freshly fried, hot and crispy, but a bit lack of flavor, lack of salt

what's good about the burger is the buns, they were very nicely toasted, warm and soft and crispy on the cut edge, with rich taste of garlic butter

but for the beef Patty, it was tender, way too tender that it lost its sense of beefy-ness it seems so weird to me

flavour-wise, it was really good, every bite of it was exciting! with all the spices, they tasted well together, never a boring bite!!

it's just the patty that I dont like...

but it's still recommended cuz I can actually taste the heart and effort of the restaurant, every component of the burger was nicely flavored, cooked and composed, give it a try!
