I have walked by Paul Lafayet at K11 quite a few times and always wanted to try.

Finally tried the Blueberry Chocolate dome. It's a rich, chocolate mouse encasing a small blueberry core. I must say that the balance between blueberry and chocolate is probably 20/80. Although I love chocolate, given the name of the item I was expecting something with a little bit more balance. Nonetheless, this was excellent.At HKD 40 a pop, this is as pricey as the Mandarin Cake Shop. But with a location in Shatin, at least now I do not have to travel to Central for a chocolate cake fix.

i bought Mocha & Sesame Macaron and a Macaron PieI like "Mocha Macaron" the most, it's so pure and the flavor had stayed in my mouth after I finished it.

Then I bought another 3 pieces afterward

thanks my bf for this special treat for the valentines day! macaron is something that looks cute, but very expensive and not worth the price in my opinion. so i have never thought that i will have a chance to try this thing. my friend who visited France a while ago said macaron is too sweet and tasted kinda like soup well i kinda agree with her now after i tried these.first of all we tried chocolate. bf said that's the best of all coz it's real chocolate filling. for me i don't really think that's chocolate-y enough for chocolate flavour. it's a bit too sweet for me as i prefer bitter dark chocolate more. i will give a 3 out of 5 for this.sesame has a very strong flavour that covered the chocolate taste all up. all i can say is it is what it is, with tons of sugar in the filling. 3 out of 5 for this.again coffee is very strong flavour too. it's also very sweet. i think it's the sweetest out of all actually. i personally like coffee so i will give it 3.5 our of 5. here comes the mistake that we have put this macaron to the very last. oolong is kinda weak comparing the 3. so actually i couldn't tell this is oolong until my bf said so. then i tried very hard to taste the residual in my mouth but sorry, i could only taste the coffee. i bet i would like oolong macaron if i had it at the very beginning. you know what, coz it isn't so sweet comparing the rest. well, maybe. i don't know if it tastes oolong so i can only rate this by sweeteness. 3 of out 5.this guy is all in white that i thought if that's coconut. my bf said oh shoot maybe we should have tried this first coz it could be even weaker than oolong. but out of expectation i could tell that's jasmine by a so very little bite. it smelt pretty decent too. it kinda surprised me coz i didn't expect that would be jasmine and jasmine could be that strong. but then again there were 1/2 taste coming from sugar. i will give it 4 ouf of 5. yay, you win.

maybe macarons are mean to be sweet. if they aren't they aren't macarons. and valentines are meant to be sweet too. so thank you my dear. it's a nice experience to try something new with you. here i wish i will be there to try every new thing with you in your life.

After having dinner with my beloved friends....i get to K11 and grab some macaroons from Paul Lafayet on my way home...
The macaroons look quite good and packaging look decent.... I bought rose, pistachio, champagne, raspberry and ginger.......

First the rose one, i bought two since i rmb it is highly recommended by loads of people...but sadly it taste like using cheap rose extract oil and the macaroons are too crunchy....aren't

the pistachio one aren't good at all too.. from the color of it...i know it is not gonna taste alright...the color is definitely artificial and i ended up having greenish fingers after having it...back to the taste....ermmm....i can't taste of any nutty flavor from pistachio...i can only taste sweetness...hmmm...NEXT

the champagne one.....totally speechless....i can only taste very tiny slight of champage from it...and the top layer macaroon(white one) are too crunchy......OMG and the hot pink macaroon make my fingers turn from greenish to pinkish...creepy...

raspberry one are too sweet...again a very tint of raspberry flavor...and loads of sweetness....i think i need an insulin injection after having that....and that raspberry fillings are full of food colorings....

last but not least...ginger.....best of all i can say....since it surprise me with the spicy, warmy taste from it.... for this one it aren't too sweet....but still the macaroons are far too crunchy as i can say.......
p.s. I know that they aimed to sell freshly made macaroons to customers...but any patisserie must know that macaroons are the best when it is placed under the fridge for 1- 2 days before serving...where the macaroons and the fillings will fuse together to get the right taste..

Overall....it is like eating caster sugar and buttercream icing.. and they all end up tasting like the same one all different flavor of macaroons taste like the same to me and they are all FAR TOO SWEET
To me, Laudree macaroons are the best where still not one shop that can compare with it.... i think next time i will try their creme brulee..and i am hoping for better results...

After hearing so much about their famous creme brulee, i decided to try it with some friends.

it cost $40. The burnt sugar on top was a bit too burnt so it had a bit of a bitter taste. The custard filling could be sweeter, and honestly i like the creme brulee i made at home more.
I wouldn't go buy it again.

I also bought the maccha macaron, since i love all things green tea. I decided to give it a go. To be honest i quite liked it, people say their macarons aren't that good, but i think the maccha one was good. If you like green tea, you'll like it.

I also tried the maccha mousseline with crispy base. That had a very strong green tea flavour, so green tea lovers, you'll like it. But beware, it's so strong that it borders on the line of bitter. The base was very good though.

Would i buy it again? no.

My friends also tried the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse.
Tiramisu was pretty good, but then is it worth $40? No. It tastes exactly like the tiramisu you can buy at other bakeries, like Arome bakery or Maxim, for half the price.

The chocolate mousse (it's in a cup) has a REALLY strong chocolate flavour, so much that it made my friend dizzy. It's kind of like fudge.
If you're soso with chocolate taste. Don't buy it, it's not worth $40

Since we were in K11 for dinner, it seemed a waste not to give Paul Lafayet a try!

Me and my friend stood there staring at all the different cakes we could get... such a hard decision! Finally, we decided on the Mango Soleil and the waitress also recommended the new Champagne macaron. I was also really interested by the Rose macaron so we ordered that too.Sitting at the small table inside the shop, the first out of the three that we tried was the Mango Soleil. Inside this little dome cake is alternating layers of pistachio sponge cake and vanilla cream with small chunks of mango flesh in the centre. Personally, I'm not a fan of cream so I didn't really enjoy this that much. However, the pistachio sponge cake was very rich in flavour - could definitely taste the pistachio!Next up was the Rose macaron. To be honest, I couldn't taste the rose flavour at all... only overwhelmed by the sugary-sweetness!Last, the Champagne macaron. I thought this was the best out of the three! After having the rose macaron, I was expecting another one that was just filled with sweetness. But I was wrong! Taking a bite from this one, I could really taste the flavour of champagne! It was somewhat bitter yet still quite fruity, yum

or not i really worried that i'll faint suddenly~!

i just remember their vanilla in pear tart was strong and good,
and again vanilla in creme burlee was powerful and appealing.the waitress were very polite and kind today,
and she recommended several chocolate choices,
but i was not at that mood today,
also i remember their chocolate blueberry mousse cake was bad.
i finally chose one small size: mille feuille,
and large size: mango and mousse with pistachio cake,

caramel on 酥餅 was very wet and so when i decided to enjoy my 拿破崙 with bare hands,it really made my fingers very dirty of brown watery sugar.
the lowest piece of 酥餅 was the thinnest of three,
but tasted the best.
however, the custard was perfect,
with lots of vanilla seeds,
and the texture was so much better than the peninsula cake shop and other pastry shops,
something like melting ice cream or you can say a harder their creme burlee,
haha they just taste the same!

MANGO SOLEIL$40---1/5
gold and raspberry were not helping at all,
and mango jam was too much feeling of gelatin.
mousse was right at taste,
but same,
too much feeling of gelatin.pistachio sponge was good,
that it was slightly harder than usual,
like baked almond cream,
but the whole thing was too simple and taste like just an usual cut cake in arome bakery.
so,
definitely i will be back for their creme burlee,and maybe trying that TIRAMISU, EXOTIC and APPLE CRUMBLE~!

In fact, I ate this brand if dessert so many time before This time I bring my best Fd to come there coz she hvnt been there before . We Hv order 3 desset cream buleer , rose macaron cake and MF there 2 if signature still keep there quality that is my favor dessert also, can't eat another better than thereBut the rose macaron cake same too smaller than before, i had to pay $40 for cake how come the size so so so small.. And Reil big different than before even the quality still keep gd. Btw all the cake so nice and I also like the girl she recommend us to eat their cake and know there cake ingredient so well3< it Reil a good service))))I wish there size will turn to be normal in the future))

After reading all the rave reviews about Paul Lafayet pastries at Open Rice, we decided to give it a try.... For a dessert foodie, this place's pastries leave you disappointed. Although they praise for using the best ingredients in desserts, all you can taste is one thing in common...Sweet, sweet and sweet.

Ordered the Mille -Feuilles, Cremoso Craquelin, Dome Chocolat-Myrtilles, Craquelin Au Chocolat , Chocolat Blanc Au Jasmin et Citron, and a Mango dome... again all desserts tasted lame and nothing surprised our palate to really differentiate one dessert from another....By the description of each pastry, you would think each presented its own characteristic but agin nothing really special about of the pastries.

For really good authentic european delicacy pastries in HK, so far the best still L'Atelier de Joel Roubuchon at The Landmark

That day , my final stop was Paul Lafayet.After eating whole cup of froyo, I decided to ordered take-away.
That time, my targets were Creme brulee and macaron.For macaron, I ordered Hazelnut (Praline) and passion fruit flavour.
1 creme brulee and 2 macarons costed me $70 but I was very willing to pay for them because those desserts are irresistable and are of high quality!!No one can resist those mouth-watering desserts

unfortunately,I lost photoes of the creme brulee and macaron but I will not forget the taste!The creme brulee was so smooth.The surface of the creme brulee was crispy.I enjoyed it very much but i still kept half of it for my mother to taste it.

The hazelnut macaron and passion fruit macaron were both better than lemon flavour and chocolate flavour that I have tasted before.For hazelnut one,it was like tasting a hazelnut. It's not too sweet.For passion fruit one, it was fantastic!Because i like a little sour taste in it,it was really refreshing.

my third visit to K11 Paul Lafayet was in Jan 2011.it was my last dessert there before my exam.I ordered apple crumble.The outer layer was very crunchy and have a decent smell of butter.The inner layer was still warm .The apples inside were sour but acceptable.
Overall,apple crumble was quite good but Creme brulee is better.

So now the exam is over and I will definitely visit there again very soon!!!
