My mom and American friends are in Hong Kong for my brother's big wedding. They stayed at the Hyatt Hotel in TST. This was the first time I visited the hotel and had a very nice full breakfast there. I haven't seen so many variety of food for breakfast. They have fresh fruit, oatmeal, bread, crossiant, pastry, jam, juice and hot Chinese dishes. It would take me 3 days to try all the dishes. I was surprised! The service was very nice here too. I saw most of the customers were foreigners.

Our family booked a table for 10 people to celebrate a member's birthday. We were all set to have a big feast lol before I came I had already read the previous reviews and felt confident with the food. Since I'm a girl and have a limited appetite, I made sure I went for the choice foods before I was too full. The decor was amazing, staff were friendly and nice and the environment was lovely, relatively quiet so you can enjoy nice conversations with eachother.
In a nutshell, what makes me want to go back are as follows:
    1. Seafood: lobster, oysters, prawns, alaskan long leg crab were all available and quite fresh (but i've tried better), one or two rounds max, save room for other food
    2. there was a cheese board with only 3 types of cheese: brie, emmental and cheddar served with a crispy thin cracker (delicious, especially with the red wine we ordered)
    3. the DESSERT was AMAZING, highly recommend the apple crumble (which has mangoes in it) and the homemade vanila mango and banana gelato, this was my absolute favourite and enough to make me go back again and again lol

Other maincourse foods refer to the other reviews la they havent changed their menu smile

A truly well executed buffet.  Smile May 24, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
This was my mother's choice after walking around K11 for restaurant options, as we were celebrating a late mothers day.

On a friday night we were able to get a table without reservations - the restaurant looks small but it can surprisingly fit quite a lot of diners. I will proceed to briefly explain the buffet, but as I sampled so many items i won't be able to review each properly!

For starters, diners could head to a square table where all the appetizers were placed. There was a sushi/sashimi counter, antipasti selection, salad selection - which the chefs can make upon your choice of salad leaves, dressings and toppings, some pre-made salads, chilled seafood including baby abalones.

In the chilled seafood section, the abalone and crabs were fresh and retained its sweetness, but the small lobsters were quite disappointing as they were not so fresh nor sweet, and the texture was too hard.

The sashimi and sushi selection was not vast, but as they were good in quality so I didn't mind!

For mains, there was too much for me to try everything...but there is an indian corner which had very good vegetarian curries, papadums and chicken tikka. Also at the grill there are a variety of sausages, burger patties, salmon, and a blackbean sauce fish in foil. Beside the grill was several pastas and a couple of pan pizzas - not my favourite thin crust, but was pretty decent.

There is also a teppanyaki and tempura corner which were both surprisingly good - probably because the presence of chefs that made what you want to order throughout the night. Then there is a chinese food corner with a very good double-boiled soup they labelled as "buddha jump over the wall". It basically has everything in it - pork, scallops, sharksfin, wolfberries and many other asian ingredients, resulting in a flavourful chinese soup rarely prepared in the household due to its long list of ingredients included.
Other than this, there were some seafood and meat stir-fried dishes, as well as a wonton noodle station and roast meat station. These were not bad at all.

Alas - on to dessert! There were two displays - one fully of cakes, the other one with some desserts and fruit bowls. From the cake display I chose the Earl Grey Mousse, Strawberry puff-pastry tart, Greentea and red bean cake and a Chocolate mousse cake with passionfruit mousse centre. From the desserts i tried the floating island as well as the Chinese-style mango pudding and soft-serve ice cream with fruits. Very rarely does a buffet succeed in the execution of most dessert selections but TST Hyatt's cafe certainly did. The soft serve ice cream was stellar - a chef will pipe the ice cream for you in a glass and you pick what toppings you would like, with cookies, fresh fruit and chocolates to choose from. The green tea and red bean cake was the least sweet - more for the asian palate, but my favourite was the earl grey mousse. The strawberry tart and and napoleon however had already gone soggy so they were quite disappointing but with so many other choices you may as well forget them. The portuguese tart was a very good - crust stayed crisp even though they had been sitting there for some time, and it was exactly the same in taste as the one we had in Sha Tin 18 =).

Lastly, service was excellent, although much better from the chefs in the food area than the waiters themselves. They were so well-trained and willing to help that you cannot leave without a smile. The Shatin Hyatt Cafe's buffet cannot compare to this at all in terms of food alone. There were some similar items, but the selection of food here is significantly wider and tastier. At $438 per head on weekends it is truly a great deal smile

adult costs $410 after discount by HSBC platinum, the price isn't low, but the quality of food is still worth for its price....
seafood ---> number of choices and quality is good enough, they are really fresh. I specially like the lobster to be mixed in the green salad, that is delicious lollollol 味道鮮!!!
hot dishes ---> not many choices inChinese cuisineshocked, however the quality is ok. the kids specially stomached the mini-burger, the beef was pretty juicy. smile the grilled sausage was not that good, too salty.mad Also I like the grilled diced beef 鐵板火焰牛柳粒 very very very much (must try item chopstick) And 燉佛跳牆, just ok, but not outstanding.
dessert ----> also pretty enough choice (except ice-cream), at least with 6 kinds of slided cake (sorry but no cheese cake). The Napoleon Cake 拿破崙蛋糕 was not crispy enough 不夠脆, but still acceptable. On top of that, the cake corner also offered other pudding etc. We discovered their dark chocolate with macadamia nuts were so goodchopsticklol

lastly, the tables are quite closed with each other, so it's pretty noisy. Anyway if you focus on quality of food, I recommend to go but just ignore the atmosphere in the place.

    Poor, poor, poor,
    nothing to eat, no selection
Only four kinds of dim sum to be selected but it isn't tasty and so dry at all . Less choice for food and the food is not fresh. NO dumpling, shrimps, slices of beef, fish balls and other for cooking noddles. It is only provided the messed fish for cooking noddles. No congee is provided during lunch buffet.

Only mussels and shrimps to be provided. Mussels is not fresh and the shrimps isn't sea shrimps. No shrimps and pumpkin and it sucks balls,no eggplant and green pepper for tempura. The sushi is not even fresh, how can we eat Mr. What da hell is going on.

Waste time and money, this is my first and last time to go to this cafe.

New buffet at TST, go there for lunch buffet with friends for b-day celebration.

chopstickSashimi is fresh (cut on request) though not much variety.

Hot dishes, grill bar, curry, chinese roast, not bad.tongue I like the Wonton noodle very much.

lolDesserts are very attractive. There are soft ice-creams, puddings, soft ice-cream, many kinds of cakes. They are put in the fridge (except tarts and pies) to keep fresh and u get it on request.

New and nice environment but I think the one at Shatin is bigger and provide a more relaxing atmosphere.

NEVER TRY  Cries Oct 31, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I tried the tea buffet today but it is completely disappointed. It is NOT a buffet setting. There is only ONE section with everything including snacks + cakes. In total, there are less than 20 items to choose. Come on, it cannot be named as a Buffet. They told me that they try to do it in a high tea style. Also, the food quality is just ok. I asked for custard to go with apple crumble. The chef told me he have not heard serving custard with apple crumble. They served apple crumble with soft ice cream. Given their price 168, I think there are more choices.
