This is my second time here for their french toast. I honestly think it's one of the best I've had in hk.

本店可以入去坐, 可以外賣. 也可以過幾間的新店. 大家又知不知道有什麼分別? .
The milk tea after trying a few times is always too diluted and weak, aroma-less, when drinking inside. The drinking-in version next door is better than here (and they use a different cup as well) Pretty sad for a Dai Pai Dong stall that is representing Hong Kong and plastered all over the tourist guides. But there is a twist to this... 2/5 .
The same HK Milk Tea is consistently bad when drank inside. But the biggest surprise? The Take-Out version not only looks different, it smells and drinks much better every single time. Don't ask me why. I suspect it has to do with the cup size and proportions. ALWAYS ORDER THE TAKE-AWAY VERSION IN THE STYROFOAM CUP! This is the best tea you will get out of the whole LFY chain by far. 4.5/5 .
The French Toast in this original stall is very good. It is eggy and crispy, with a Kaya spread which has a good butteriness and slight Pandan and Coconut taste. The centre of focus still remains with the nicely fried French Toast. Don't bother ordering this at all of the remaining 3 outlets! 4.5/5 . try not went there after shopping !
busy workers cut the bun & prepare the drinks near the gateway, while the customers in & out in every minutes! Pork-chop is crispy + yummy with fragrant of wine, noodle with sweet-soysauce (老抽), but the side-dish green cabbage is a little bit over done; my glass of coffee with ice just right with low sweet ! Supplementary Information: polite workers but you need to eat asap, try not shopping before you went here, no extra chair /space for your goods!Recommended Dish(es):

Come on, this is supposed to be THE classic milk tea, but is put in a cheap plastic cup and sell for $15. It doesn't taste any better than others that I had, in fact, it is ranked among the below average ones. The small bad sandwich that I had with the tea only make the experience worse. This is all hype and no substance. The sitting environment is also among the worst. Too bad. Table Wait Time: 1 minute(s)

Date Dined: Weds 19th jan 2011 4pm Ordered: Gwailo Mixed rice with fried egg + Kaya french toast + American style hot dog + Hot tea + cold ice tea Taste: Gwailo Mixed rice: We were quite intrigued in this gwailo mixed rice, looked delicious in the hoto, but did not know it would be so different to the picture shown. It is half of minced meat sauce, then other half is cream sauce on top of rice. The minced meat sauce actually taste better than the cream sauce. The creams auce was not strong r creamy enough. But the minced meat sauce was strong in flavour and was very rich. But overall it was abit wieird. The two taste dont match and one stronger than the other and it was way too chinese style of the rice. the eg was nice and crispy though. rather big plate but next time would not order it again.

Mr chow would get better service?
Conclusion: There are many negative reviews about this place, so i was quite sceptic in trying this place. But i was happy with the outcome. i enjoyed this place and would love to come back. The milk tea was great and probably the best i have tasted in years. It is worth it to queue up for such a good milk tea. The service on other hand was really bad. People did not acknowledge you. they enever smile or even look at you when you order. No manners at all. All because they are really busy. But i think that is no excuse at all. They probably think, this is a local place with cheap reasonable price and tons of people queuing up so no need worry about service. But good restaurant should provide good service. i am not asking them for 5 star hotel service but at least be polite and say please and thank you. especially when they take orders and when you are paying at their tills. at teh end of the day, we are the ones who is paying you.

Craving for a cup of good milk tea, where else to look for a traditional cup of hk style milktea than Lan Fong Yuen. Their ice milk tea is also very smooth and very rich in taste. I have also ordered their condensed milk bun and a plate of friend instand noodles. This restaurant is a bit of expensive for the food and enviorment but most of the people come for its fame and their famous milk tea+ HK style food. After working out the other day I got hungry and decided to stop by 蘭芳園 to try grab a little food. Environment: The place is super cramped but luckily I came at a good time and a table all to myself. The seats aren't most comfortable (but not uncomfortable) but these is very typical for old school Hong Kong cafe style restaurants. Service: Personally the service for me for good. The lady at the door pointed me to my table and the lady who took my order was very nice. I could potentially see why people would get bad service here since they are all about quick turnaround. If you sit down and almost immediately know what you want they will love you. Food came quickly (which is expected). Food: I ordered on of their signature dishes: The instant noodles itself...tasted like Japanese instant yakisoba. Since it undeniably tastes like instant noodles (which I think some people might be shocked to hear) I can't really reward it any extra points. For example I think there are ways to make 'junk food' not taste like junk food but in this case I say it is great chicken paired with above average instant noodles. What I will say is they definitely have some skill with cooking instant noodles. The noodles itself was quite chewy in texture which is not easy to do. One thing you should take away from this is that this is a 'cultural' dish and it might not really be fair judging it in an unbiased manner without taking that into account. People back in the day didn't have much and instant ramen was somewhat of a staple in their diet...hence the birth of this dish. From that standpoint it isn't the restaurant's objective to make the ramen taste like something gourmet but merely serving something that is cheap, fast and 'tasty'. Overall not a bad dish. Definitely a major step up for cooking instant noodles at home but couldn't really say it was all that good as a whole. The chicken itself was really quite good. After the eggy treat at Tai Cheong, Mum and I proceeded to another highly reputable local coffee shop (or stall?) in Central - Lan Fong Yuen. The pantyhose milk tea was said to be so good that even the Caucasians would flock in to give it a try. Well, I'm not from Hong Kong so I'm not in the position to query the status of Lan Fong Yuen among the other eateries which serves milk tea as well. However, milk tea is not a new thing to me as it is also widely available in Malaysia. I guess it is not offensive to the others if I were to give my own opinion on the this beverage. First, it was tasteless with a complete absence of the smell of tea. I tried to close my eyes and took another sip hoping that I could sense the hidden flavour of this concoction but was utterly frustrated by something that tasted nothing more than plain water. So, my dear Hong Kong buddies, this is what you've been drinking all these years? Thinking that I might be too judgmental about something which I don't normally fancy, I switched my attention to the cup of coffee hoping that it could change my perception towards the quality of their food. I wanted so much to prove that I was wrong but once again, I was disappointed. The coffee could hardly convince me that it was actually a cup of COFFEE. Mum ordered Breakfast Set A consisting of a bowl of instant noodles and a cup of drink. Mum and I were puzzled when the food arrived. It gave us a fright! Reason? The noodles were not cooked and the soup was drizzled with excessive oil! I never like to penalised based on appearance so I took a few strands of noodles together with a spoonful of soup. For goodness sake! Even my brother who rarely cooks can make better noodles. This was absolutely inedible! You must be thinking that I would give all the bad comments to Lan Fong Yuen and my review would contain lots of biasness. Don't worry, I want to be fair to Lan Fong Yuen too. their reputation is retained by the Pork Chop bun which I found rather interesting. First, the bun was perfectly toasted till it was crispy on the outside but remained soft in the inside. Second, the pork chop was so well-marinated resulting in tender and juicy texture. I only ate half of it and kept the other half for lunch but I didn't eat it for lunch. Guess what? I took the bun back to the hotel and left it on the table till midnight. I ended up eating it for supper. You know what? After so many hours since the bun was made, it still remained tasty! I salute to the cook who made this bun as he had created wonders from an ordinary bun.
just ok

Came by with a friend since we were hanging out in Central. Honestly I was pretty stuffed by then but couldn't really come here without getting one of their signature pork buns. Environment: The place is pretty bare bones and run down. It's considered a cafe (茶餐廳) but it could really qualify as a borderline dai pai dong (大排檔). Place is pretty cramped and probably not all that clean. Service: Typical old school Chinese cafe service is pretty much minimal. Basically you order, you get your food and you get out. Today the waiters seem to be a better mood so they were pretty friendly. Bottom line...you pretty much won't be coming to Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園) for either their environment or service...haha. Since I was pretty full I just ordered one thing. Now onto the food: Overall I was pretty happy with my pork bun. Sure the place and service isn't all that great but food alone will make me come back to this place.

Went here for lunch finally to try out the famous porkchop bread - 豬扒包~ my friend ordered the French toast! We didn't go for any of the drinks, such as milk tea, as we find them similar almost everywhere in terms of taste. The 金牌豬扒包 was excellent. A bit too small though. The porkchop was warm and soft, nice and juicy, complementing with the nice sauce. Around $14-15~ My friend ordered the French toast (咖央西多士). I didn't have all of it. But it was quite good. Didn't taste too sweet and yet the sauce inside was very good! Again, it cost around $14-15! So all in all, the whole meal cost around $29. It's quite expensive, given that the 金牌豬扒包 was really tiny. I would recommend this restaurant to people who wish to have a light lunch. Service was alright, and pretty efficient. Could be better though.

Especially travelled to Central for a nice Milk Tea last sun. It's so so so disappointed. What I can tell is that, the one in Cafe De Coral tastes much much better. The milk tea I ordered is so dilute, no tea and no milk flavour at all. When the ice melt, it tasted even worser....how come there is so many good comment to there milk tea? My Cantonese friend took me to this Cantonese style restaurant at Central. The restaurant has a historical background of 50 years. But they maintain it quite will; the walls, furniture, utensils and equipments seem to be in good condition. We arrive there around 1.45pm, there are still people queuing up waiting for a table. But luckily after 10 minutes there is a table for 2 of us. The service was really good (maybe because we are pretty ladies..hehe), the staff knows ladies don’t eat much so they give us two bowls to share the noodle and cut the bun into twos for us. There are no rushing customers or impolite attitudes. The milk tea was really really….. nice~ so is my friend’s lemon ice tea. The prices of dishes are quite expensive for the kinds of food that serve there, but it’s a good place for experiencing Cantonese culture and style of cuisine.

As long as I were full in the whole morning! Last month, I went there with my friends...again...I can felt why so many bad comments here! The service standard...was very very poor...poorer than "3rd world standard"~! Especially the 2nd oldest son of the owner! Holy Shxt! We were asked to finish our dishes earliest...as many ppl were waiting outside! I wanted to order cold cola...and it seemed they were in harry to close the resturant...early...on Saturday...~! 上報紙就笑笑口, 入到去一定最少斬你三十兩...~! 永不幫襯~!
