Restaurant: Istanbul Express Turkish Restaurant (Lockhart Road)

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. If you're expecting to blink your eyes and suddenly find yourself in a quaint old cafe in Turkey, then perhaps your expectations are too high. Or maybe you're delusional. Istanbul Express is not a fine dining experience and they won't win any awards on decor. It's better identified as a reasonably priced eatery with good portions and consistent quality. The meats are certified Halal if that is important to you.

What I like most about Istanbul Express is the quality of meat. The beef, chicken, fish and lamb selections are always seasoned and cooked perfectly. When is the last time you paid under $100 at lunch for nicely seasoned, tender and juicy lamb? In addition, I like being able to choose from the selection of four available sauces at the table.
