I went to Boomshack lured in by the reviews on Openrice. The place was quite full even on a Wednesday evening so I'm guessing they are rather busy on weekends.

The place pays homage to the food truck culture from the states with both the interior and their menu, which on paper sounds awesome.

We ordered some oyster tostadas, beetroot fries and a chicken waffle with two beers on the side.
Beer (75$):
+ Some local draught available
- Tiny cups (0.3l)?
- Price same per volume as Azure or Tasmania lounge. 75$ for a small cup of draught. No HH

Oyster tostadas (48$?):
Nice crisp texture
+ Good chutney & slaw
- Tiny portion

Beetroot "fries" (58$?):
Note, I wrote "fries" here as when we got the dish, it was not really fries but 1" x 1" size cubes of beetroot that were crispy on the outside, but tasted just like cooked beetroot from the middle. I asked the waiter about it and he said that due to the texture on beetroot, they have to make it into cubes, but why call them fries then?
+ Something a bit different
+ Nice Kewpie mayo
- Not fries

Chicken waffle (88$):
- Waffle felt soggy and somehow did not work with the dish
- Chicken skin / fried dough was sliding (not falling) off

Overall due to the flaws above and the fact that the bill came to nearly 400$ made this one the worst meal of 2016 so far and I expect it to stay that way for a while.

This type of food should be tasty, filling and cheap, but I felt hungry and disappointed after eating.
