The izakaya along lockhart road that I wanted to go to was closed on Sunday, so my friend and I wandered further down the road and passed by a couple of buildings all with stacks of restaurants in them, and this was the only building where we didn't have to wait for a lift. The restaurant is located on 2 storeys which is a feature in this newish place, which gives it a cozy and intimate atmosphere without being claustrophobic. No bookings, walked in and we had our choice of seats from the counter top.

We weren't starving so only ordered a few skewer items: the mixed platter of chicken yakitori in 6 flavours were nicely presented and interesting looking, with crunchy cartilaginous bits mixed in with the minced meat which lent it some texture, though at $180 it was a little on the pricey side.

The other skewers were adequately done: the swordfish was firm but not tough and dry, and the pork belly had just the right amount of fat to give it the taste.

The grilled eggplant with miso seemed like a popular dish as a few other diners had also ordered it, and steam was still coming out of the flesh when you cut it in, though the miso sauce was a tad on the salty side.

The mixed salad was a good sized portion, and the ginger salad dressing very refreshing and light, but not worth taking a picture of. The sake my friend ordered was very smooth and they had a good selection too. But it wasn't the cheapest of all places and there are others with better value.
