Had lunch here with a couple of pals today, one friend brought along his 4-year-old son.Second floor is a nice space, open and great view of the intersection there at the edge of LKF. We all had the set lunch ($138?!) with asparagus salad (unremarkable) and a small, well it looked like a filet mignon (but it wasn't, can't remember the exact cut) steak and the other had cabbage-wrapped salmon.The steak was outrageously good, cooked to true rare in my case, seasoned just right. Hands down the best

We all had the set lunch ($138?!) with asparagus salad (unremarkable) and a small, well it looked like a filet mignon (but it wasn't, can't remember the exact cut) steak and the other had cabbage-wrapped salmon.

The steak was outrageously good, cooked to true rare in my case, seasoned just right. Hands down the best steak I've had in nine years in HK. No joke.

We each (save the kid) had a draft of the Wooloomooloo house beer, a good slightly bitter lager on a hot day.

The kid had french fries and a 7Up, all told, $ 750.

The staff was quite friendly, service a bit slow. The bread was good too.

The steak is highly recommended.

Today I was called out to have an adhoc lunch in Central. Usually with lunch hours like this, the chances of finding a restaurant is slim, however, this place...probably due to its geography...most of the time can offer plenty of seats for occasional walk-in customers like me.This is already my second time here, the first time, I was seated on the ground floor, but this time, their friendly waitress took us to their upper floor which has a very different ambience as compare with the floor below

This is already my second time here, the first time, I was seated on the ground floor, but this time, their friendly waitress took us to their upper floor which has a very different ambience as compare with the floor below. I particularly like the huge windows that they have which opens up a nice view to LKF. Though we were not high up but the weather was so great that the sun shone right into the entire floor. Great, let's order!

We ordered their daily set lunch...

BREAD:

Bread - This is their welcome bread and its huge! If you ask me, it does look like a blow up baby, cute! Supposed to be honey glazed but I couldn't taste the honey, rather, the bread is warm and extremely soft, nice start.


SALAD:

Buffalo Mozzarella with chucky tomato, cucumber, red onion and olive oil dressing - Everything in this salad tasted fresh, and I like how they make everything so chucky...the freshness opens up my appetite for the main course!


MAIN:

Sirloin Steak - Cooked to medium rare and according to my friend, it is extremely juicy and tender.

Spaghetti with chicken strips and wild mushrooms - This is quite an interesting dish, as it looks a bit like Japanese pasta and tasted a bit too sweet. I have to add quite a lot of black pepper to balance out the sweetness.


COFFEE OR TEA:

Double Espresso - Great cup with just the right amount of acidity and the added bonus is a piece of almond shortbread.


As the whole room was only half full, we had quite a relaxing and quiet lunch. The weather was good which makes this such a nice break from the hot weather outside and from work. Happy Tuesday!

幾款 executive set lunches (starter + main + coffee/tea; 另可加錢要 dessert) 的主菜都係肉類, 不過胃口一般, 還是簡簡單單食 pasta 好了.

先嚟一板 welcoming bread: 份量大到咁
賣相絕對 "honey glazed", 拎上手熱辣辣的, 食落帶少少甜, 不過唔算好軟熟; 旁邊的 herb butter 就絕對 fresh from the fridge, 冰凍硬實,「片」得吃力, 終於「將冰山劈開」後, 亦只「片」出碎濕濕乾爭爭的 "flakes", 真係


Starter 要了 smoked salmon, green apple & fennel salad: fennel seeds 食得多, 新鮮的都係第一次... 呢碟的 shave 到一條條, 食落味淡卻清爽, 感覺似足「走辛辣」版生洋蔥, 哈哈
青蘋果預期中的酸爽; smoked salmon 就幾鹹吓; 仲有脆卜卜的一條條疑似 crispy wonton strips, 諗起食蛇羹落的「薄脆」, 哈哈
夾埋 rocket leaves 及 vinaigrette, 加加埋埋清新開胃至極, 好好食的一個 salad.


主食要了 capellini with crab meat and escargots in tomato sauce (set lunch 價 $98)... tomato sauce 味道新鮮酸香, 不過份量唔夠, 唔係條條 capellini 都「掛汁」, 食落有咬口但有少少乾; escargots 份量多, 食落預期中的無乜味 (係急凍貨色吧?), 不過起碼唔韌, 算啦; crab meat 係「凌亂散落」的罐頭蟹肉, 份量多亦夠味, 整體都 ok 吧.

最後來杯熱咖啡, 聞落香, 齋飲好濃亦好苦, 落熱奶落糖後較易入口, 不過仍然啃得很,「心跳」了成個下午
旁邊一塊內藏 almonds 碎的牛油 cookie 反而好好食, 牛油味香濃又唔膩, 質地鬆化到呢, 絕對可以獨立拎出街賣, 正


食物 ok, 配套亦不錯, 2 樓環境亦舒服好坐, 店員們亦有禮貌又 efficient, 印象不錯的.

連加一埋單約 $110, 可以一試; 不過據聞灣仔店仲好坐, 再來的話應該都唔會返嚟蘭桂坊了.
賣相勝於味道, 不過睇到都幾開心的

一路飲台版 perrier $50 一樽,一路等左 45 mins 先終於見到個 pumpkin soup....跟住要再等多15 mins 先出到個 main course...需知道 lunch is only 1 hour and waiting for the food took 1 hr !!! This place can't do party size....cos when there are more people, the sevice just becomes really slow....they insisted to serve the whole table with food on the same time.....i.e. the cook have to finish with the cooking before serving = waiting and waiting for customers....I reckon lunch should be more flexible with the serving time。

Pumpkin soup 等左 45 mins 以為佢好有料到,但原來很稀,一 d 都無 pumpkin soup 應該要有 d 南瓜絲....亦都唔夠味,要自己加鹽同 pepper。另一 appetizer 係雞 salad,味道聽講幾好味。

Beef, although the waitress marked down how should it be cooked, but finally when the beef / lamb arrived, was either too rare or too well done....


The food tasted great though...一開始覺得 d 牛有 d 乾,跟住每一塊牛配上一小塊鵝肝一起咀嚼反而味道真的不錯!讚!個 potato 有 d crispy 既感覺真係幾好味!佢有 s sauce English mustard 個 d 俾你點,但要 remind 佢先有,但大家都已經食左一半....

Drinks 如果叫 coffee 仲有 2 X cookies 伴杯
叫 drinks 既時候諗住快 d 叫幾多杯乜咁,點知個 waitress 發晦氣話唔好,因為佢要逐個問記低每個位叫 d 乜 drinks...

最後因為同事生日 request 左個 complimentary cake,呵呵,有ice-cream係chocolate cake 上面,looks yum~~


Food 真係俾好高分
, service 認真麻麻,慢、錯、漏,最好 dinner 先黎。

喝過了湯,再來是前菜<<白酒香草蒜汁煮青口>>(Fresh Mussels Au Meuniere),青口帶有很重的海水味,亦很鮮美,絕對是新鮮才有的味道。

一行七人只得一個前菜又怎會足夠,所以再來一道<<煎蟹肉餅>> (Blue swimmer crab cake),內有份量非常多的蟹肉,肉鮮味美,值得一試。

再來就是<<海鮮凱撒沙律>> (Mixed seafood Caesar salad),內有蟹肉、蝦、煙三文魚及帶子,每樣海鮮都十分新鮮,沙律汁味道不太濃,跟海鮮偏薄的味道剛剛好。

前菜都吃過了,下一道便是主菜了。首先來的,是<<平底鍋香煎蒜蓉白酒牛油汁雞胸肉>> (Pan-seared Chicken Breast),這個絕對帶來了驚喜!一般外國人做的(尤其是係煎的)雞胸肉,肉質大多是嚡口到不得了。誰知這件雞胸竟然不嚡口之餘還有很多肉汁,這個廚師確是有點功架~

之後來了一點點的澱粉質<<一籃薯條>>,甚有薯味和薯香的它,新鮮又脆卜卜,頗美味~

然後<<廿四安士T骨扒>> (Porterhouse steak),燒成剛剛好的五成,肉質有原始咬口,極多肉汁。原味的牛扒,就是如此的美味。

澳洲沿海有很多海鮮,這個<<野生鱸魚>> (Wild sea bass),也是其中之一。
除了美味的主菜,在旁的蔬菜也十分美味。如<<牛油焗露筍>>,爽甜鮮美。<<鮮磨菇莧菜>>,用上了少許牛油、蒜粒和鹽去炒,簡單而有美好味的伴菜。

最後的是餐廳送的甜品,<<心太軟>>。中央部份算頗流心,夠香又夠朱古力味道。侍應一邊在奉上蛋糕,一邊在唱生日歌。跟很多的西餐廳一樣,都有這個額外"服務"。

不知不覺,已過立秋,卻還在寫年初的事。年初六,與一眾中環OR朋友吃午飯。坐在二樓,一張長檯三人對坐,座位相當舒適寬敞。午餐兩道菜包飲品賣98蚊,加30蚊還有甜品,以地方計,都幾合理。前菜3款,主菜4款,我們6個人,順理成章的要齊3款前菜,打孖上,另外主菜飛起了美式名菜「Surf and Turf」,亦採取同樣策略便行。前菜三款,鱒魚沙律、蟹肉蛋白荷包及bouillabaisse。本想分吃,但原來菜色擺放得精緻之餘,份量也非常的精緻,唯有一人認頭一款。我要了bouillabaisse,喝一口,不知何解,是非常強烈的罐頭沙甸魚的味道,已不對頭,不過都有不少魚塊蝦粒在內,作為餐湯,也不能要求過高。吃了一點鱒魚沙律,鱒魚雖然是凍的,但不腥,也不錯;主菜分別是羊肉串、煎封鴨腿及三文魚番紅花意大利飯。幾款試勻,羊肉串不韌,但也沒有什麼味道,蘸點薄荷喱,好一點。反而跟食友的意見相同,伴碟的薯蓉是又香又滑,吃了不少;煎封鴨腰煎得幾乾身,肉離骨,略嫌「柴皮」了一點,不過不失。今次又是伴碟的取勝,炸薯條做得熱辣辣又香脆,連那埋撈了沙律汁的火箭菜也不錯,又吃了不少;意大利飯就相當不濟,幾濕身,沒有咬口之餘,

+ 蠔是好好食的超鮮甜, 不過set死3款, 無得比你揀+ steak有"slightly smaller" portion, medium rare做得很好, 可是牛味不夠- steak上面加d crabmeat等於無加, d汁match牛唔match蟹, 無晒d鮮味, 浪費了+ 甜品係個apple crumble很有水準- 有個甜品叫pavlova很特別, 糖的souffle, 上面加了生果同埋熱情果醬, 得意, 但係唔係幾好食

我5 點正到, 想買件雜誌介紹過既Lemon Meringue Pie 試下.... 我一推門就有兩個係bar 臺既亞裔人仕好惡o甘話"it's closed". 都5 點啦, 門都開左啦, 吾洗甘惡?!o甘我咪同佢地講"I just want a Lemon Meringue Pie to take away". 好彩有個女waitress o黎幫我落order, otherwise 我又白行一趟!返到屋企試下個pie, 一般咋! 美國好普通既Baker Square 都好味好多! 仲要成$60 + 10% service charge ($66) 一件...... 我吾會再幫襯架啦!!

It's ever poor food I ever have in central restarant, I ordered the garden gree salad, crab cake, mignon steak, rib eye steak, apple crumble..and some glass of winesGren salad - the dressing was horrible and I can't even touch that..so called mustard honey dressingCrab cake - salty, salty and with rough crab meat, the cake was neither cripsyMignon steak - the only dish that's OK, but of course not good, the texture is tender but it tastes weiredRib-eye steak - very very salty salty....the textur

Gren salad - the dressing was horrible and I can't even touch that..so called mustard honey dressing
Crab cake - salty, salty and with rough crab meat, the cake was neither cripsy
Mignon steak - the only dish that's OK, but of course not good, the texture is tender but it tastes weired
Rib-eye steak - very very salty salty....the texture is just fair, how can one make the taste of steak so bad ?
The four sauce goes with the steak tastes weired as well, though it looks good
The dessert are just so so...


Why we don't complain, coz the environment is cosy and the service is nice..that makes us happily finish this weired tasting dinner, but of course we won't come again for dinner, but for drinks is nice !
