How Long Does It Take To Make A Salad?
Ruby Tuesday
2019-05-19
No complaints about the food. The service, on the other hand, was terrible. There were eight of us and we went before the lunch crowds turned up, so I don't really see any reason for the delays. We ordered nachos to start which came halfway through the meal. Three of us were served our meals and the remaining five had to watch us eat for a good 15 minutes before the rest of the food came out. The last dish to come out, ironically, was a salad. I just don't understand how the food did not come out in a timely fashion. I would say it took at least 30 minutes for the nachos to eventually turn up (no exaggeration there). We were in that restaurant for a much longer time than we needed to be, honestly. If I could select no star for the service, I would. There were some very friendly members of staff and some who were incredibly surly. Not sure what was going on today. I have been to Ruby Tuesday's several times and in different locations around Hong Kong and this has got to be one of the worst experiences I have had with regards to service. Normally everything is served together and everyone is able to eat together. Not this time, however. …Read More

A Pleasant Surprise
Soul Food Thai
2019-01-20
I went to Soul Food Thai for dinner on a Saturday night with three friends. None of us had ever been to this restaurant before so we had no idea what to expect - but by the end of dinner, we were all pleasantly surprised and were sufficiently stuffed full of good food. Upon being seated, the waitress asked if we knew what we wanted to eat but, as we were first-time visitors, did not know what items to order off the menu. The waitress then introduced us to something similar to a set dinner where the chef prepares a variety of dishes for patrons. The waitress had us sold and we decided to give that a try. Within minutes, our first dish arrived: a spicy papaya salad. It was quite tangy but not overly spicy. Once we finished, more dishes came out of the kitchen: chicken satay, stir-fried morning glory,  an entire fried fish, two curries, pad thai... the list was almost endless. I think we had about 11 dishes in total, not including the rice that was served as well. Desserts included one mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream. All in all, we paid $331 each for approximately 11 dishes (not including white rice), a drink each and service charge. Everything tasted fresh and the seasoning for each dish was done well. The service was also excellent as our waitress and waiter were very attentive and were friendly and polite. Even the chefs and other staff members looked like they enjoyed being there, unlike some other restaurants I have been to where wait staff look miserable and unfriendly. I would definitely head back to this restaurant as the entire dining experience was excellent.  The food, coupled with the friendly service, made the evening thoroughly enjoyable. A mighty thumbs up from me. I will be heading back again soon for sure!…Read More

Sawadee So Good!
Sawadee Thai
2018-12-02
My friends and I didn't have to wait for a table despite arriving at the restaurant with no booking, not to mention it was a Saturday night and around 7:30pm. After sitting down, we were promptly given water and a menu. Our waiter's English was good, took our orders down without any trouble and was a polite server. To our surprise, our first dish arrived within about 6 minutes of us ordering it.We ordered the following dishes: duck in green curry, spicy salt squid, pork fried rice, water spinach in garlic, prawn cakes. Bearing in mind there were three of us, there was A LOT of food. Great quantities for the price we paid. There was no dish that was a disappointment. We all really liked everything, especially the duck curry. We all eat quite a lot of Thai food and this was quite authentic. When we went to pay, the lady behind the counter was very chatty which added to our pleasant experience at Sawadee Thai Restaurant. We will definitely be coming back here to sample more dishes. Great service, great food and a great restaurant to try if you are in the area.  …Read More

Terrible Food, Terrible Service
Dan Ryan's Chicago Grill (又一城)
2018-10-25
I was thoroughly disappointed with my meal at Dan Ryan’s. So much so that I will not be going there in a hurry, if ever again.Firstly, the service was appalling. We did not have to wait for a table as we had made a booking the day before, but our water was rarely replenished, not to mention we waited a good 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The staff had a nerve to tell us we only had an hour and a half to finish our meal when it took a third of the time for the food to actually arrive in front of us. I ordered the meatball sandwich and am surprised I didn’t contract some form of food poisoning. The bread it was served on was a sad state of affairs as it looked (and tasted) like any bun I could purchase fromthe supermarket. The chef had put far too much butter on the bun and themeatballs and sauce were lukewarm. The meatballs themselves tasted… weird. I don’t know how else to describe them other than there was a taste in them that did not resemble beef or any sort of meat I am familiar with. It normally takes a lot for me to lose my appetite, but I have to say, Dan Ryan’s, you did a great job.I think the feeling of repulsion soon made its way around the table as no one really seemed to enjoy the food. The server may as well not have asked what type of French fry we wanted as we did not get what we asked for. What was the point of asking what we wanted when we all got the same type of fry!?There were seven people around a table and not one of us thought it was value for money. The bill came to a total of approximately $1,900; we ordered no alcohol, no desserts and ordered three iced teas. We had a few starters and one main each. It was totally not worth it. At all. …Read More

Great food, service and amazing kulfi!
Manakamana Nepali Restaurant
2016-07-24
I am a sucker for a good curry and I was thoroughly pleased with both the food and the service at Manakamana. We went quite early (around 6:30pm) so there was ample seating but by around 7:15pm, things started to get a little busy. We left before 8pm and there was not a single seat available, so if you plan on eating at this place, be sure to get there early or make a reservation. After hearing about how good their momos are, we decided to go ahead and sample the vegetable variety and coupled it with an order of their samosa chaat. In addition to these two starters, we ordered two mains: daal makhani and the Gurkha chicken (which is cooked in beer). To accompany these dishes, we ordered a mint naan bread and rice with cumin seeds and had the usual lassis and cool sodas to wash it all down. We didn't wait long for the food and everything came to the table hot. Portion-wise, helpings were generous. Thankfully, nothing was too spicy, although there was some kick at the end of the samosa chaat dish but it worked very well with the associated ingredients. Being the pigs we are, we wanted to also try their desserts. We decided to go with the kulfi and the gulaab jamun. I would have to say, if you are looking for great kulfi, this is the place to go. I don't think I have ever had such delicious kulfi in my life and I will most certainly be heading back there to order some more of it. The gulaab jamuns were a more subdued taste after the treat of the kulfi, but were piping hot and the texture of each ball was chewy and adequately seasoned. For the three of us, we paid HKD150 per head for two starters, two mains, a plate of rice and a plate of naan, three non-alcoholic drinks and two desserts. We left not only totally satisfied but incredibly bloated (in a good way!) too. We will definitely be heading back there and will hopefully be making this a regular haunt for frequent curry cravings :) …Read More

Seriously good Swiss food
The Swiss Chalet
2016-03-16
A favourite haunt of my dad's, I decided to head back to the Swiss Chalet after many years of absence to refresh my memory of exactly how good the food was... and I definitely didn't leave disappointed.  The first thing that hit me when I walked into the restaurant was the smell (and sight) of dozens of cheeses. Amazing! After being greeted by one of the waitresses, the smell of cheese slowly dispersed and we were shown to our table. A large piece of card displaying the great selection of entrees, mains and desserts were a welcome sight to my stomach. It took me a while to pick exactly what I wanted as everything looked too good. In the end, I decided to go with the vegetarian ravioli, salmon steak, the poppy seed slice for dessert and a latte to wash it all down at the end. After a few minutes, a waitress brought along a variety of fresh bread in a basket for us to choose from. Both bread choices I picked were soft and bouncy and were chewy but not heavy. The butter was easy to spread onto the bread and didn't 'destroy' it by being too cold (imagine being on a plane and you want to spread butter on your bread roll but because of how cold it is, the butter turns into a small roll of tiny pieces of dough. Not good). We were onto a good start and I was looking forward to the rest of my meal. My vegetarian ravioli was the first to arrive, and oh my goodness, what a dish this was. I am quite a sucker for pasta and I found this particular ravioli dish to be one of the best I have ever had. Too bad it was only an entree size as I could easily have gone for more. The ravioli pockets were accompanied with a rich tomato and cheese sauce which didn't drown out the vegetable filling and didn't make you forget what the main star of the dish actually was. The pasta itself was fresh and was very smooth and silky. A highly recommended dish for both meat eaters and of course, vegetarians alike. The next course was the salmon steak which was perfectly cooked and was drizzled in a cheese-cream sauce. The dish was served with okra and a small portion of wild rice. Again, the sauce didn't take away from the salmon and didn't turn the surrounding food items soggy, which I have experienced many a time. And finally, the dessert. The slice was adorned with fresh fruit pieces including raspberries, blueberries and a wattle seed. A small scoop of ice cream and cream were also next to the slice to give it an added 'wet' element. I am not a big fan of having alcohol in my desserts and this one had raisins (am pretty sure they weren't raisins but am not sure of the exact name for them) that had been soaked in booze for quite a while, which I found quite overpowering. Having said this, the interplay of alcohol, cold from the ice cream, cake and fresh fruit was quite an interesting mix. I did enjoy the dessert but out of the three courses, it was probably my least favourite. After all that, we were given our coffees and a small selection of biscuits. The service was excellent and I appreciated the owner of the restaurant taking the time to speak to his customers.  I wish I hadn't waited so long to go back to this place as I really have missed out on some great food. I will definitely be visiting again in the near future. If you have never been, I suggest you do - a cozy restaurant that serves great quality food and portions for a reasonable price. …Read More

Big Flavours from The Little Corner
The Little Corner
2016-03-12
Hoegaarden beer in ice cream form! What more could you ask for? After having lunch in the area, we were in the mood for something sweet and cold. I had remembered walking past this little ice cream shop a few times on my way to work and decided we should have a taste. The first thing that struck me was how few choices there were on the menu. If I remember correctly, there were only two flavours: matcha and Hoegaarden rose (yes, you read correctly - an ice cream that tastes like rose beer). There were additional toppings you could add to your selected ice cream and of course, you could select whether you wanted it in a cone or a cup. Seeing as though we didn't have much choice, I opted for the matcha and my friend had the Hoegarden rose and we both chose to eat them out of a cup rather than a cone (less messy and less cold!). Now, having said I was surprised to see only two flavours on their menu, I have to say, my matcha ice cream was SO good. It was creamy, the matcha flavouring didn't smack me in the face like many others have, and I was given quite a lot of ice cream for the $30 I paid. My friend's Hoegarden ice cream was also fantastic. I've never had beer in ice cream form before but I was really impressed with how it was done. It tasted incredibly authentic i.e. no extra silly additives were added to mimic the beer or rose taste and it wasn't enough to make you feel like you were actually drinking a beer instead of enjoying an ice cream. The Hoegaarden ice cream was also very refreshing; once summer arrives, I am sure many people are going to be heading to The Little Corner for both a beer and ice cream ;). Unfortunately, we both didn't opt for any extra toppings and just had the ice cream on its own. I'm sure the next time we go, we will be a little more adventurous. This is definitely something I don't think many, if any, places in Hong Kong are serving right now and I was really amazed at how good both the matcha and Hoegaarden ice creams were. I will definitely be heading back there once the weather warms up to see what else I can satisfy my sweet tooth with. If you like beer and ice cream, head to The Little Corner! If you like matcha, this place is somewhere you should put on your radar as well. I just hope they are able to incorporate a few more delicious flavours into their line up - I would be more than willing to try each and every one of them! …Read More

Jam-tastic!
Let's Jam
2016-03-12
I have noticed quite a few of these independent, 'hipster' cafes opening up around Hong Kong, but was curious to try Let's Jam out specifically because of its unique twist to many of their dishes - they incorporate jam into almost everything. While this may put a few people off, I was eager to see for myself just how good (or bad) such an unusual idea was. Of course, if you don't like jam in any shape or form, don't bother coming here (or rather, don't order anything that has jam in it... which might be a bit tricky)! The first thing I noticed was how quiet the restaurant was. Even though a few tables were occupied, everyone was busy doing their own thing or were quietly chatting to their friends. The atmosphere in the cafe was relaxing and the wait staff were not pushy at all (finally, a place that allows you to order in peace and at your own pace!). I decided to sample their baby back ribs ($88) which was accompanied with a barbeque jam sauce. As this was part of their set lunch, I was also given a salad to begin with which had a mango and vinegar dressing. I liked the blend of these two ingredients and was pleased to see that the salad was not drenched in the sauce. When the ribs arrived, I thought they looked a little over cooked but thankfully, once I bit into them, they were tender and easy to chew. The barbeque jam sauce itself complimented the ribs quite well and I was given an extra, small jam jar of the sauce on the side to dip my french fries into (or to douse my ribs in further). The sauce wasn't too sweet but it wasn't an overpowering barbeque taste either - it was smoky but 'jammy' at the same time. The ribs were also served with a small salad on the same plate. The french fries were very fresh and everything was piping hot. I also had the chance to choose either a tea or a coffee with my lunch which was an addition $12 charge. I opted for a latte which was creamy and not too strong either. My friend didn't go for the set lunch but ordered a cheeseburger instead ($108). This too was topped with the barbeque jam sauce and large, thick slices of juicy tomato and pickle. He has been to Let's Jam many times before and he claims the burgers there are the best ones he has had in Hong Kong. He also ordered a really cool drink called the strawberry jam soda, which came in a Soda Stream bottle which the waiter poured out infront of us into another jam jar. I noticed other customers in the cafe had ordered this drink and assume it is one of their speciality drinks too. All in all, this is a place I would definitely visit again and would probably try the strawberry jam soda and the burger. After hearing my friend's rave reviews, he's got me craving one too! Staff members are friendly and speak good English and are attentive but not suffocating. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and are in search of a quiet, peaceful place to eat or enjoy a drink. …Read More

Passion
2016-01-30
All I have to say is... The chicken tikka sandwich they serve here is AMAZING. Best one I have ever had! Passion specialises in pastas, sandwiches, salads and small, fancy pastries. Once you go into the cafe, you are greeted with an array of colourful and delicate puff pastries to your left. Right next to that is the salad bar where you can create your own masterpiece or choose one from the menu. And then there are the pastas... If these choices haven't already overwhelmed you, had over to the sandwich bar to see what goodies they have to offer there. I decided to go with a personal favourite of mine - the chicken tikka sandwich. At $48, you get quite a sizeable sandwich, packed with tender and perfectly marinated chicken. Of course, you have some vegetables in there too (peppers, for one). You won't be disappointed as the sandwich is seasoned excellently. Definitely go for the toasted option when the server asks for your preference. What I liked about their lunch set is that you can add a coffee/tea for an additional $20, and, if you are hungry, an additional caesar salad (I thought I would be getting a moutful of salad but in fact, I got a large helping) for $20 (all in, it was $88 for the sandwich, coffee and pretty big salad). I opted to go for all the add-ons and was given a buzzer to take to my table to wait for my order. Once I had devoured the above, I decided to try out one of their fancy looking pastries. It took me a long time to decide which one to pick... they all looked so good! In the end, I went with a strawberry danish that had what looked like a small pastry tower fixed to the main pastry body with creme anglaise. This wasn't too bad, although I found it to be quite dry. It was tasty but the texture of the pastry could have been hidden more with more creme anglaise and strawberries. This hasn't put me off sampling other desserts of theirs and I already have my eyes on a few others I want to get my hands on.I thoroughly enjoyed it all and will make Passion a frequent lunchtime spot to visit. Although it is a little out of the way, I would be happy to venture down there for another amazing chicken sandwich and set lunch at a reasonable and affordable price. …Read More

A restaurant worth checking out!
Mala's Fusion Cuisine
2016-01-30
My friend and I were greeted by a very friendly front of house staffer and were promptly shown to a table. We were asked when our other friends would arrive and had no problem with us waiting for them. This deserves gold star in my book as many restaurants in Hong Kong nowadays are incredibly picky about how many sit down, at what time and give you a set amount of time to shovel the food as fast as you can into your mouth (and, in case any of you are wondering how long it took for the rest of our group to arrive, within 10 minutes, everyone was there and was ready to eat). Being a greedy pig, I wanted to order almost all dishes on the menu. This restaurant had a huge range of dishes from different cuisines - there was something for everyone. We were also served a complimentary basket of papads and chutney to munch on whilst we were making our minds up. As we had a few vegetarians with us, we decided to order separetely. Our vegetarian friends ordered a vegetable curry and two portions of garlic naan, and us meat lovers had a lamb curry in a cashew nut sauce (I unfortunately can't remember the name of this dish), chicken quesadillas and extra garlic naan. The server who took our orders (I think he was the boss too), was very helpful and chatty and recommended things to us based on our spice tolerance. As I can't take too much spice, he suggested a handful of curries that would be best suited to my taste. We also ordered a portion of nachos for the table to share before the mains arrived. The food arrived quite quickly and we all tucked into the various dishes laiden in front of us. The chicken quesadillas were made perfectly and weren't smothered in cheese and actually had a good amount of small chicken chunks in each slice. These were also adequately toasted and, once biten into, didn't ooze the contents of the slice onto the plate below. The lamb curry was excellent - the meat was so, so tender and the cashewy sauce was full of flavour and wasn't overloaded at all. Coupled with the warm garlic naan, it was a dish that I would definitely order again. By the time I got around to eating the nachos, they were a little cold and thus the cheese had hardened somewhat. Having said this, they were still packed with flavour (again, not purely overloaded with cheese and generic nacho sauce) and were served with two or three additional condiments on top of the tower of chips. I wish I had gotten to them sooner to enjoy them more. Halfway through dinner, it was someone on another table's birthday. Whether or not the birthday boy or girl enjoyed this, I thought the idea of the whole restaurant listening to a disco version of the Happy Birthday song was quite entertaining and rather unique. All in all, I would highly recommend this place for a small, intimate dinner gathering. The restaurant itself is not huge and spacing is quite tight. In terms of pricing, it is more on the pricey side for reasonably sized dishes but it is most definitely worth it. All staff members were very friendly and are probably the friendliest bunch I have come across in a LONG time. I intend on going back in the very near future to sample more of their curry dishes and to see what else my greedy tummy is willing to sample. …Read More

No No Nomad's
Nomads
2015-12-29
I have to say, after growing up loving this restaurant, I was unimpressed by today's experience and was disgusted by the service. Don't be fooled by the fact we didn't have to wait for a table - we (thankfully) booked in advance. By 1:30pm, it was a zoo, and I am sure if we hadn't booked, we would have had to look elsewhere to eat. I am sure the staff at Nomad's are aware of just how popular the restaurant is and surely know how to handle a busy lunch service. After arriving with approximately an hour before the lunch special finished, I decided to take up two things to be cooked at once: a pizza and a bowl of noodles. I was informed by the chef that he could not process such a request (fine, I accept that, but was not given a valid reason for this) but was told he would cook one first and then the other and have it delivered to my table. I waited close to 30 minutes for one of these dishes to appear and when it did, I had to quickly scoff it down to go and make another bowl of noodles before they stopped the lunch service. Suffice to say, the first bowl of noodles I made never showed and despite asking a handful of different waitresses what the hold up was, I got no further. Some of their responses were just down right rude and dismissive and were totally disinterested in their work. Our water was barely refilled and we had to keep asking for top ups. Again, we were met with moody remarks and expressions. We were then shown the bill in order to hurry us along and to get us out of there asap. This is not the first time I have left a Cafe Deco restaurant (the first incident involved a forged signature) with a metaphoric foul taste in my mouth and I am slowly losing my patience with what appears to be a consistent attitude of not giving two shits about their customers and who they hire. The food was fine - no complaints from me about that. But to have to eat in a place that is utterly chaotic and disorganised as well as unfriendly is, in my book, unacceptable.  …Read More

Is this a restaurant or a funeral service?
Mask of "Si Chuen & Beijing"
2014-05-08
I have only ever been to this restaurant once but know it is a hit with many people, especially vegetarians looking for suitable and tasty vegetarian Chinese food. Suffice to say, I doubt I will be going back anytime soon. While the decor, ambience and overall appearance of the restaurant is appealing, the hospitality of their staff has much to be desired. The woman who served us never cracked a smile once, not even when some of my guests praised the tastiness and quality of food. She had a glum, depressed look spread across her face for the entirety of our meal. She also managed to get two of our orders wrong and when we asked about them, she looked confused and didn't seem to recollect what we had said a few minutes earlier. Okay, everyone has bad days. I get that. But when you are a waitress and people are openly praising the efforts and food quality, you would expect a little more than just a dazed look and vacant stare. As my title suggests, that woman sucked the life out of our table when she came to 'do her job'. One of the first dishes that arrived at our table was a shrimp dumpling dish with a tomato paste inside. I bit into it and looked into the dumpling, only to find a bug of some sort mixed up in the tomato paste. I took it out, had a closer look and called the waitress over for her to have a look too. All she did was take it off my finger, squash it infront of our faces and said in Cantonese, "oh yes, it is something dirty" in a monotone voice. Uhh... yes... I knew from that moment on that this was a precurser to the rest of our extremely upbeat and attentive service. One of my guests suggested to her, politely, in Cantonese, that perhaps she should inform the kitchen about the bug. God only knows if she did that. As with any other restaurant, I would expect a dish on the house or a little something to compensate the discovery of a bug in one's dumpling - we didn't even get that, let alone an apology from Little Ms Sunshine. Our water glasses were rarely replenished (mind you, we were tucked away in some booth for a large number of people, so while I appreciate we were hard to notice, a waiter should be stationed nearby to kep an eye on things) and it took ages to get someone's attention for when we did desperately need some liquid to quench our thirst. The food quality itself was very good. One of my favourite dishes of the evening was a spicy, deep fried chicken dish. I am not usually very good with spice but this was so yummy, I kept going back for more. We had a wide range of dishes including soft shell crab, spring rolls, eggplant in a garlic sauce, fried noodles and fried banana fritters and red bean pancake to finish off with. It is a shame that the service put such a downer on the meal as if we had a different member of staff serving us, I am sure I would be heading back down there for more tasty and palate-pleasing grub. Definitely go for the food but be warned - if you come across this waitress, you might leave feeling drained, moody and probably incredibly pissed off, especially if you too find a bug in a dumpling. …Read More

Peaceful Jordan cafe
SAM'S COOK
2013-05-06
Have walked past this place a couple of times and have always seen it pretty packed. I was pleasantly surprised with what this little cafe had to offer! With only approximately 22 seats to offer, space is quite limited within the cafe itself. This didn't really bother me, although I found it quite hard to maneouvre my various all day breakfast dishes once everything arrived. Apart from this though, I liked the coziness it had to offer and the interior decor worked well with setting a relaxing atmosphere for customers. By about 12:30pm, most tables had been snapped up. The menu had plenty of dishes to offer and included a variety of Western pasta and breakfast combos as well as interesting Chinese dishes too. Each dish had the option of being upgraded to a combo meal. I ordered the all day breakfast which came with: buttermilk waffles, beans (which came in a separate, small bowl)scrambled eggsbacon a salad with sesame dressing (which also came in a separate, small bowl) sausage a cup of hot milk teaThe presentation of the food was simple and elegant, and worked well with the surrounding cafe decoration. The quality of the food was good - I liked being able to eat an all day breakfast with buttermilk waffles without paying an exorbitant amount as well as enjoying what I was eating. I still felt a bit hungry after devouring the breakfast and decided to order a vanilla milkshake. That was the icing on the cake and I was fully satisfied after pigging out and indulging in some tasty and carefully cooked food. My only complaint was the service. There were four people managing everyone and preparing everyone's orders but I did feel that the waffles should've come out at the same time as the rest of the breakfast, not to mention waiting for almost half an hour for my milkshake. I'd like to think it is down to the fact that they haven't been open for a long time and are still trying to find their feet, coupled with the fact that the cafe was quite busy. Having said that, the staff were friendly, polite and very attentive. I have had a hankering for some more waffles so will be visiting Sam's Cook in a few days. It's definitely worth a try, especially if you have a thing for all day breakfasts! I have a feeling this is going to be one of my new favourite places …Read More

Moody, grumpy and unfriendly staff
Outback Steakhouse (尖沙咀中心)
2013-04-20
A friend of mine wanted to take me out for a belated birthday dinner so we decided to visit Outback Steakhouse in TST East. However, I was not impressed with the professionalism of the waiter who served us. He was moody, unfriendly (he seemed to grunt at times) and never cracked a smile. When we were ready to order our main course, he seemed pre-occupied and walked away halfway through our order to attend to someone else. After our order was taken, it took ages for the food to arrive, not to mention we were probably one of the only tables that were not served bread. We had to ask another server, one who was slightly more friendly than our assigned waiter, who promptly served us our bread. I was also surprised to find that they don't serve cappuccinos (not quite sure I have ever been to a restaurant that doesn't serve cappuccino) so settled for tea instead. My friend ordered a lemon squash which she seemed to enjoy. I was appalled when the waiter handed us the bill straight after our main course. We didn't even have time to decide if we wanted dessert, let alone being handed a menu to have a look at what they had to offer. It wasn't even close to closing time, so I am not sure what this guy's issue was. He was just a miserable human being. While there were a lot of waiters on duty everyone seemed totally lost and the service of tables was a mess. Understandably, it was a Saturday night but how hard is it to serve customers with a bit of respect? I felt rushed and got the impression they wanted us out of there. The food itself was fine - I have nothing to complain about. My friend and I both ordered the Alice Spring Chicken which came with Aussie fries. The food was hot and the honey mustard dressing that accompanied the chicken was delicious. My friend informed me that at the end of the receipt, there was a link to a website you could visit to fill out a survey to detail our "dining experience". Before I logged onto Open Rice, I filled out the survey to express my dissatisfaction. What was interesting was that when I tried to fill in more information regarding the areas that I had an issue with, there was a very limited number of characters I could fill out, perhaps another genuine lack of interest in their customers' "overall dining experience"? If you want good food, then this Outback is something to definitely try. Just brace yourself for the possibility of some of the most pathetic waitering you can get in Hong Kong. NOT IMPRESSED! …Read More

Terrible service and time management
Monster Sushi
2012-11-26
After experiencing good set lunches at a couple of Japanese restaurants such as Sushi One, I decided to try Monster Sushi with a friend during a lunch break. Everything was fine right up to the point where I ordered my set lunch. The pictures and number of dishes for the set I ordered looked great and good value for money. I was absolutely starving by this stage, so was ready for a relatively big meal to refuel me before heading back to work. Not only did the food take at least 20 minutes to arrive, it was room temperature. To avoid wasting anymore time speaking to the waiter and asking for it to be made hotter, I gobbled it down in order to get back to work on time. While the waiter did inform me that it would take 20 minutes, I was disappointed even more when it turned out to be an unsatisfactory temperature. The quality of food itself was mediocre. It wasn't spectacular and definitely wasn't worth the wait. To make matters worse, the set came with a coffee or tea and me, not learning from the terrible time management of the restaurant, ordered a coffee at the end of my meal. I expected it to be made and handed to me a couple minutes after placing the order. I waited for approximately 10 minutes for the coffee until I finally cancelled it, paid, and left more than slightly annoyed. If you're the type of person looking for a quick meal between work hours or enjoy taking your time with your food (like I do), this is not the place for you. If you have plenty of time on your hands and have nothing better to do with the rest of your day and aren't put off by eating warm food, you've found yourself a gem of a restaurant. I doubt I will be going back to this place in the near future, if ever. …Read More
