best napolitan pizza in hk
Ciao Chow - Italian Cafeteria
2018-01-06
No discussion. Nobody in HK can beat this pizzas for quality and price (below $88). (Neapolitan pizza, do not come out with comparisons with other styles ) . It tastes like in Italy, served in what is an individual portion in Italy, cos in Italy when you go to eat pizza you only eat pizza! And I know what I'm talking about as I was born and grown up in Italy. Open kitchen, skilled "pizzaiolo", and even a couple of craft beers priced $38. Awesome place!…Read More

Disappointing
Tim's Beer House
2016-11-18
Firtstly, in a time when everybody is turning into craft beers these guys open a beer themed place with pure commercial low quality beers, absolutely overpriced (88 to 108 HKD + 10% service), no food in the kitchen, only chicken wings given to those buy the Openrice coupon $200x2h free flow macro beer. Empty place and wrong concept, for 2016. Forecast an early clausure within 6 months…Read More

Casablanca Restaurant & Cafe

Went here only cos of a The Entertainer offer of 2x1 on a main dish. Arrived downstairs we smelt thst something wasn't right as we have been harassed by an Indian PR to get to the place (in pure Chungking Mansion style, where food is much better). Nice decor, menu was obviously overpriced, $188 for a tiny tagine dish, there was no mint for mint tea (come on, a Moroccoan restaurant without mint is like McDonald's without buns) . Typical Indian run scam as many groupon or similar offers. Food was ok, but absolutely overprice even after having 2x1 with main dishes. Forecast: clausure as soon as they get enough fools, like me, yo ge their 2x1 offers. Avoid it!…Read More

Terrible... everything!
Milk & Milk
2012-09-09
Lowest quality restaurant ever tried in HK!I should have noticed from the chipped edges of 2 out of 3 plates... this is a restaurant good for cheap children food, absolutely the wrong place to go if you like "good taste"This is what we had- Steak and chips set: Steak average quality softened with chemicals, swimming in watery garlic sauce- French Pizza Beside the "French" in the name that could have been any other nationality, it was an OK dough with kinda liquid topping, it was impossible to cut a slice without losing the topping. There was ketchup for sure, and the semi-cold cheese was a unit floating on top of an ocean of ketchupy sausages and ham chunks. Impossible to watch, but the taste was probably the best among the dishes we tried.- Beef with black pepper sauce: obviously coming from a microwaves, the beef was tough and tasteless. Justified by the 12$ price.- Beef & Mushrooms rolls: again straight from the microwaves, with (non requested) ketchup on top. Poor. Honestly, just a cheap place with cheap food., with an urgent need for new plates!…Read More

Authentic
Super Thai
2012-03-23
This is one of the few authentic Thai restaurant in town outside Kowloon City, run by Thai people with authentic flavours and ingredient that can be find only in Thailand and quite seldom in the thousands of Thai restaurant in town.I walked by this place few months ago, there weren't many customers, but after noticing some notice written in Thai on the door I decided to give it a try then I came back few other times. Another hint was: no chopsticks on the table, only fork and spoon. My favourite is Pad Thai, great, tasty and with loads of tiger prawns in it; but their curries and other dishes (sweet sour prawns is a hit!) recalled the flavours of my holidays in Thailand rather than any visit to other Thai restaurants in town. The service is attentive and efficient, the decoration is modern and unpretentious and it's priced like a local restaurant with an average of 50$ for a dish.…Read More

This is a tasty burger!
JHD American Gourmet & Bar
2012-03-22
Just came back for my first experience here, I would said POSITIVE, I'LL BE BACK!Went here for lunch with my gf, we had: (I don't know why but it doesn't let me upload photos)1) Swiss Mushroom burger: great bun, toasted but not dry, the Angus beef patty was juicy and tasty, some mushrooms and relish on the top, however the cheese wasn't melted, but it didn't bother me. Worth the $61 of the set lunch.2) Buffalo spicy wings: average, they shouldn't call them 'buffalo' as there is not relationship with the real Buffalo WIngs, and honestly overpriced (36$ for 5 pieces). Not bad, but not 'buffalo'3) Garlic fries: crispy and tasty, not too 'garlicky', 18$ great value.4) Ice lemon tea (included in the set) and a pint of Hoegaardeen to swallow better.Definitely a nice place for a casual lunch or dinner, the staff are attentive and nice, they explained me carefully how it worked for the orders and he provided us with the free WiFi password (without asking for it). They have a nice outdoor area as well, will try next time.…Read More

Gone bad
Ebeneezer's Kebabs & Pizzeria (灣仔中匯大廈)
2012-03-19
I used to go to this place often but now Ebeneezer's has became a fully Indian restaurant now, and among the worst one. I'd rather go to Chungking mansion to have proper Indian food, honestly.Pizzas slices are microwaved!Lamb kebab with fries is the worst edible thing I've tried, as the lamb doesn't come from the skewer but is gathered and collected from the grill, so it's closer to coal than to meat. My last visit I had terrible stomachache all night!Chicken tikka (that shouldn't be found in a Kebab place btw) is dry and tasteless.Kebab rolls are the worst among their branches, oily and heavy. I'd rather recommend the real Turkish ones at Istanbul Kebab (that is even cheaper). And again... I wouldn't swear about the freshness of the meat...Service is slow, unresponsive and looked even annoyed by the presence of some customers, the decadence of the ambient as well, more than a couple of time I've witnessed to arguments and even fights between Pakistanis and Indian customers. They are not doing anything to keep this branch up. Bad management is the only answer. …Read More

Best in town
Istanbul Express Turkish Restaurant (Lockhart Road)
2012-03-19
I've become a kind of regular customer for many reason1) It's probably the only authentic Turkish place in HK (with MrKebab on Lamma island), I'm not Turkish but I know Turkish food well.2) It's not 'HongKongnized' food, they kept it original.3) It's a Turkish place run by Turkish people (unlikely the sad Eabaneezers)4) Food is fresh made, rich and served in big portions.5) Pide (Turkish Pizzas) are great, totally like the ones you have in Turkey, fresh made (it takes 20 minutes) and genuinely oven hot6) Beef Kekab rolls are tasty and light, not oily at all and made with the kebab from the skewer not the sad left over from the bottom of the kitchen (once more... unlikely Eabaneezers). Pity they don't serve lamb kebab rolls here7) Lamacung (another pizza alike stuff with minced lamb) is delicious, served with fresh salad8) the kebab dishes (several) are really good, abundant and always, again fresh made with fresh ingredients.Recommended, as the other branches in town.…Read More

hkpatv I contacted Groupon about this and got a full cash refund. Probably for the best as reading previous reviews I really wasn't looking forward to redeeming my voucher.

Reliable
Smart Pepperoni Pizza
2012-03-15
I've been here few times as I work in the area and it's a reliable and good priced place. I haven't tried many dishes but they are almost all excellent. The service is attentive and the place looks authentic, with its simple unpretentious decoration.Everybody has already written about the huge burgers and the dinosaur ribs, nothing to add to previous reviews, the calamari are very good, with fresh grounded pepper aroma, and in a huge portion as the standard of the place. But what I want to mention here is the disappointment in my last visit as I tried the Smart Pepperoni Pizza. The effort was good, I mean it was fresh made without a prep dough, and it took its time to get prepared but... it couldn't compete with any pizza from Pizza Box for example. It was just pizza topping on bread, a bigger size of the small pizzas we can bay in a local bakery in a MTR Station. But hot of course. I'm not saying that it was bad but from a place called "Pepperoni Pizza" I was expecting something more.I will definitely come back for the delicious ribs or the burger, but I won't have a pizza again!…Read More

Bad and expensive
Good Luck Thai Food Restaurant
2012-03-15
I can't say that this is the worst Thai restaurant in town because I haven't tried all, but it's bad enough to push me to write my first review on Openrice. I came here with my gf uniquely because the restaurant where we were supposed to go was fully booked. We didn't want to walk too much so we stopped by here, there were several customers and they didn't look that sad.The menu was not different as any Thai restaurant in HK, obviously priced as the area. I'm a Pad Thai fan but I noticed that here was made with dried shrimps instead of the usual fried prawns. So we decided for other choices.- Chicken sateh (but we ordered beef and chicken...)It was probably the best dish, even if as it happens usually NOT grilled (or barbecued that is the meaning of the word 'sateh') but stirfried. Anyway, it was OK, 6 big skewers, juicy and with a thick tasty sauce.- Fried squids in chilli and saltAverage-bad. It was quite smelly (that put me off) and tasteless. The chilli seemed to be there for decoration as its flavour was undetectable in the dish. In many local places you can have the same for half the price (it was around 95$ here). The rubbish bins enjoyed half of the dish.- Fried noodles with beef (with a beautiful Thai name that I don't remember, chosen in place of the not inviting Pad Thai) terribly disappointing, flat noodles with artificial mushroom flavour, tough beef and kale. Any 30$ 'Cha Chan Teng' beef noodles can beat this in any way. Worst noodles of any kind tried in HK in these 7 years I've been here!- Kale (Choi Sam) average good, obviously overpriced.- 2 green coconuts (even this was tasteless)Total $391Never again!PS Service was OK, not special, they served quickly but they had a dish wrong.…Read More
