good quick dinner at garden restaurant
Sweetheart Garden Restaurant
2011-07-31
i came here last night for a late dinner around 11 pm. the food was very good! service was good too! the waiter brought out everything very fast!price is very reasonable. the table next to us ordered these giant U.S grained fed steaks and they looked amazing and gigantic, next time i will definitely try them!the only negative thing i like to point out was the glasses they brought out for the water looked dirty, u can't even see through them!!! it was ok, since your meal includes soup, bread and tea/coffee so i didn't touch the water!i ordered baked sole fish and salad and garlicky veggies. my friends just ordered chicken or pork or fish baked over rice. everything was super delicious!!!definitely coming back here soon!!!! i had a pleasant experience! just remember it's on the second floor!! take your elevator up there!…Read More

Arirang Korean BBQ - very good korean bbq beef
Arirang Korean Restaurant
2011-07-17
i came here last tuesday night for dinner. this location is prime. sitting inside the time square shopping mall.this place has a very nice ambiance. good for both business dinners and family outings. we got a seat w/o reservations. the price is similar to the korean bbq in nyc. about $300HKD per bbq dish. we ordered beef short ribs. it was marinated to perfection. the meat was tender and juicy. also ordered the spicy cod roes with tofu and turnip slices stew and japchae (stir fried noodles). i thought the appetizers were great, however, they didn't refill them!! the korean restaurants in both nyc and new jersey refill their appetizers. -_-japchae was very delicious. the spicy cod roes were ok. i was craving for them for the longest time. i had better ones in new jersey. i cannot wait to go back to jersey to have them again. also one thing was they didn't ask us how spicy we wanted for our stew pot. it came out very mild, which was fine with me b/c i don't eat spicy food anymore. if u want it spicy, make sure you specify in case the waiter forgets to ask you.overall, service was excellent and food was very good as well. definitely will go back there again!…Read More

iroha - sushi experience
Iroha
2011-07-17
i came here yesterday for a friend's birthday dinner. we ordered the sashimi set for 3. then added on a soft shell crab sushi rolls and some other light dishes. i have to say the food quality was very impressive. the chef did a good job! wanted to order the sea urchin but was expensive and decided not to. it was around $300 for tiny bit. also ordered a bottle of sake. tasted very good.even thought i was very happy with the food, i have to say i hated the service. our waitress, this woman who looked pissed off at our presence or simply she just hated her own life. she never once smiled. she never once said thank you. she never once tried to help in any way. i was very annoyed at her service. two people at our table spoke mandarin (not cantonese) and she gave a dirty look at them when they were talking. i thought that was very RUDE. she looks like she is in her 30s or maybe she is just going through menopause. WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANT HIRES WOMAN THAT GIVE DIRTY LOOKS TO CUSTOMERS?!?!?!?!i will NEVER go back there just b/c she made me feel like i was below her. she belittles people. i don't go to restaurants just for food, "services" is another big part of the whole experience. i promise you and myself that i will never go back there again.…Read More

Senshuraku japanese dinner on a weekday
Senshuraku Japanese Dining

I went to Senshuraku at causeway bay on a wednesday night for dinner with 3 others. this building is very busy around dinner time. almost every restaurant has a bunch of people waiting. we wanted to go to another restaurant but decided to find one that has no lines. i wasn't sure if no lines here meant that it wasn't good, but we decided to give it a try.we ordered a meal set for 2 and then added on a fried rice and some sushi pieces. sea urchin for $98 was definitely cheap, i have been to places where they charge $300 for even smaller portions. the eel sushi was extra delicious, usually they wouldn't give you such big piece of eel!the fried rice was very tasty although it was a big oily. the beef wrapped around enoki mushroom was very good as well. overall, i would come here again if all other restaurants have no seats.…Read More

Good Pork Chop Buns at Macau Restaurant @ cwb
Macau Restaurant
2011-07-17
i went around 11 pm on a friday night. i was super hungry. upon entering, there was no wait. it's a pretty fast service place, i wouldn't expect top notch service, but they bring out your orders very fast.there are a lot of choices at this restaurant, it's not a fancy place, it's more like a diner. i decided to order the famous pork chop buns with scramble eggs and two pieces of fried dumplings. it was THE BEST PORK CHOP BUNS EVER. the buns were crispy and baked perfectly. the fried pork chop baked with rice was delicious as well. the tomato sauce was excellent as well.the seafood over rice with creamy sauce was just okay. i really liked the seafood but i thought the portion was too small. when you finish eating all the seafood, u are left with a lot of rice! i wouldn't order this one again. even though everything was about $30 each, not expensive, but i was feeling hungry after eating there. b/w two people, you should order 3 things to share.overall, i would go back again just for afternoon snacks. definitely will order the pork buns again!…Read More

Pretty Good Japanese Yakiniku
Morihachi Yakiniku
2011-07-07
I have had Gyu-kaku many times in New York City prior to moving to HK. When i first tried Morihachi, I thought it was a pretty good place and definitely in direct competition with Gyu-kaku NYC (east village). The location isn't a good one. Causeway Bay is sooo crowded!! I would have never found it on my own. It's situated in a dark building, the staircase looks like something out of horror movie!!The food was very good though. the ox-tongue was one of my favorite. the veggie basket was presented in a very cute and pretty way. i loved how they cut their mushrooms, b/c mushrooms sometimes do look ugly.the meat is very tender and fresh. also had a chance to order the shrimp, it was a big shrimp, but it was $100 HKD for ONE SHRIMP. i thought it was definitely on the expensive side. regardless, it was a delicious shrimp. loved it.when we first arrived without making reservations, the guy at the front said we can get a table if we finish within one hour. i thought it was a little rude. i understand that it gets busy but honestly by the time i finish, there are still one or two tables left. the waiters weren't that friendly there. you always have trouble finding one, i guess they are busy running around serving others. HK isn't known for their service. so they get a 2 out of 5 stars for their service. food gets a 4 out of 5 stars. i would definitely go back again!…Read More
