The experience here tonight was too surreal that I had to sit down and write my first review at OpenRice. This was the Grilled Scampi I had as main. It was listed in the menu as "main". But the portion just didn't justify the categorisation. Only one Scampi was served and the dish costed $238. I may hv stuck with it if it was an antipasti. It's not about the money. But the portion. I don't think any sane billionaire would be full by having one Scampi and some vege as main dish. (This pic makes it look bigger. In real it's really small) You would have a generous portion of at least a dozen Scampi in Milan for that price. But I know I'm in hk. Rent is high. But still , nth can justify one skinny Scampi as main dish. I can't even really realise how it tasted with such little meat. I'd rather you charge triple for a just portion. I can't really judge the experience this night becos the feelings were so extreme. The staff at the oyster bar downstairs were nice and sincere. We were here for the oyster discount but still the quality exceeds my expectation for just $10 per piece. We also tried the Irish one. I liked the vibe downstairs. The staff members were nice. The bartender made sure that I like the ginger and lime lemonade that I had and it was really nice. It was actually my husbands bday and I made a booking upstairs for dinner. The reception ladies were so cheerful and nice when I went to reconfirm the booking , and the bday arrangement for dessert. But everything changed when we go upstairs. The long hair lady looked really pissed at all time. I'd like to think it's not becos we didn't order wine - I was coughing whole night. And we never enjoy alcohol The short hair lady said twice that "the main dishes would take 30 min (isn't that ridiculous too?! ) to arrive. Would you like to order appetiser ? " very annoyed. (And it wasn't the case. Main came in like 10 min only. ) We tried to explain that we are quite full already after having dozens of oysters downstairs. She didn't seem convinced. F&B and hospitality people in hk really need to understand customers ain't philanthropist. Just come in and make sure you got the money as paycheck . I'd rather to do charity. Your service and food need to live up to certain standard. They need to understand that different people have different preferences and situations and not only treating people who order wine and lobster as guests. It was a pity that the food I had (or at least the skim portion of Scampi ) are all quite nice. I'd like to believe that it's a nice restaurant but the person who designed the menu really need to rethink the balance of practicality and making profit , and the manager needs to train the staff upstairs again. We were so disappointed that we left without ordering dessert. I paid $438 for the oyster happy hour and $623 - more then a $1000 combined bill but felt empty stomach. (The two stars for Service is for the staff downstairs , they actually deserve a four or five ) …Read More
