Innovative Chinese Gastronomy💫
Bo Innovation
2021-07-13
Famous for gastronomic creativity, Bo Innovation is a 2-Michelin star 🌟🌟 which offers modernized Chinese cuisine. Formerly it was a 3-Michelin star when I visited for dinner many years ago before they had a renovation. I wanted to come back and try their lunch this time Their restaurant feels a lot more spacious after the renovation. It’s still simple and modern in design but they have added many elements of Chinese and Hong Kong history in their decorations, which perfectly fits the theme. We ordered the Wagyu Beef Lunch Tasting Menu (HK$1000) and it was on discount on weekdays. Perfect! The 9-course tasting menu starts off with “Taste of Marriage”, which are little appetizers in 5 different flavors - Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Spicy, Salty 甜酸苦辣 to signify what you will go through in a marriage What a fun, fascinating and creative concept to incorporate the Chinese traditions to your tastebuds!!For appetizers, the set menu also includes their signature Molecular  X-trend  “Xiao  Long  Bao” This is a must try! I still remember I had this for dinner many years ago! Look how delicate it looks before the flavors burst in your mouth 💥 The next courses are “Son of a Scallop” , “Pieces Paradise” and “Rich Abalone” . All the dishes look so beautiful yet also tasty on the palate Clearly many Chinese ingredients are used here with a twist. My favorite dish is “Rich Abalone” - which is poached abalone with caviar 20g and mung bean. The other course “Yin Yeung” , egg yolk with black truffle, is also delicious Very rich and heavy in flavors. However, the main course “Wagyu Beef” is decent but not to my liking. Maybe it’s the dense black pepper sauce or the chewy texture of the meat, I didn’t enjoy it throughly. Also, “No Shark Fins”, faux shark fins in rock sugar syrup 冰糖, is not my cup of tea either as I don’t normally fancy this type of Chinese dessert. Just my personal preference. I am sure many others like this course. Then it’s “Comes after Sex” , which is a can of baby food! Just kidding….it’s a can of foam with crispy crumbs in Braised Pork in Preserved Vegetables flavors. It was very unique! Must try Interesting name too! This is the other signature dish I’ve had many years ago except it was in a different flavor.Lastly, the final dessert “V generation” is composed of diced apple and chestnut mousse in ginger vinegar 姜醋 to complete the journey. After many years, I must say I am still fascinated with this placeAs their menu changes quite regularly, the new menu really caught me by surprise. In fact, I think the whole journey was elevated by the entire Chinese Marriage theme. Beginning from courses relating to wedding traditions to Chinese banquet and then ending with baby food and the classic Chinese dish after giving birth. What a delightful and inspired story and experience!!Definitely recommend it for everyone to try at least once, especially for tourists to enrich their Chinese culture through fine food! 👌🏻💫The only small matter is I feel that their staff is not very genuinely friendly or attentive. Their service is ok and they will explain the menu and every course to you, but that’s about it. You would expect more enthusiasm and care from a 2-Michelin. Perhaps that’s why they lost a ⭐️ ? Lunch: HK$ 1000 per person …Read More

Perfect causal Western dinner👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Moreish & Malt (美國萬通大廈)
2021-07-12
Excellent option for causal western meal It’s a twist of American, Mexican and Italian cuisine…yummy! Love the big glass window and space here too. We ordered Snacks Platter (HK$148) which included Buffalo chicken wings, Vegetarian quesadilla and Crab meat mini tacos. Great for sharing :)Also had Roasted Brassica (HK$ 85) for starters, which was one of my favorite dishes of the night That sauce was very flavorful and the dish was full of texture. Perfect combination! For mains, we had USDA Ribeye (HK$ 348), Texas Burger (HK$ 168) and Fettuccine in Lobster Bisque (HK$ 178). They all came in a very good portion. Each item was delicious and I especially enjoyed the burger 🍔Lastly, the highlight of the night for me was their dessert. Tofu Cheesecake (HK$ 78) 🍰It had a unique and rich flavor. Not too thick and heavy which was perfect for me. It was a very big slice too! I could have finished it all on my own but I’m glad we shared it among the 3 of us Definitely check it out! Dinner : HK$ 425 per person (with a glass of wine)…Read More

So-SoSomm Brunch🥂🥐😕
SOMM
2021-07-12
For my farewell brunch with friends, we managed to score a booking here just 10 days in advance. They sometimes have promotional set menus with credit cards, so be sure to check that out 😉 Book early for brunches! We were a party of 6 people. With covid restrictions, they had to separate us to 2 tables with a tall, massive divider in between which made it almost impossible to talk / see each other, so that was a bit annoying :(I would advise just to come in a smaller group. Be sure to arrive before 2:30pm too, that’s their cut off time for last orders. As we arrived late, we were cutting it close but managed to stay and eat until 6pm The most basic option : SOMMkind of Brunch was HK$ 698 each, which includes 90 minutes free-flow of Sparking Wine, Cocktails, Fresh Juices, Coffee and Tea. 🥂🍸🍹 Although there was only a small drink selection, they were quite tasty My favorite was their seasonal sake-based cocktail🍶. We were given a generous portion of Baked goods 🥐🥯🍞, Smoked Salmon, and Cheese 🧀 & Ham platter as starters for sharing. What a beautiful & delicious spread We were already very full after finishing these 🐷 We also added their signature Aka Uni French Toast (supplement HK$ 238). Tasty yes, but definitely expensive 💰for such a tiny piece!! 😕 I would recommend to just save the Uni at a sushi shop. For mains, we ordered a Poached Cage (Egg on English muffin with black truffle butter, Hollandaise sauce & ham) , Cheese & Cage (Omelette Katsu Sando) and Scampi with zucchini (supplement HK$298). Honestly, their mains were just very ordinary.:(You can find the same items for half the price in most cafes. Definitely no need to order the Scampi and pay extra for that They were not bad, but just not worth the supplement. My favorite dish was the Omelette Katsu Sando 🥪 To finish, we had the signature Abinao Chocolate Soufflé with Cacao Sorbet, Basque Cheesecake, Bourbon Vanilla Mille-Feuille & Vanilla ice cream. The signature chocolate soufflé was extremely rich in dark chocolate, it was too heavy and thick for me. Their basque cheesecake was very different too. I didn’t like any desserts in particular. To summarize, let’s just say Somm was a little underwhelming.:(In terms of the decor, service, food portions and flavors. It was quite expensive 💰 for it was, especially with the supplements of Uni toast and Scampi. Their mains were very basic in general. There are many other & better brunch options! Brunch : HK$ 1000 per person …Read More

Disappointing & Expensive Birthday Dinner! 😭😭😭
Écriture
2021-06-03
Worst fine-dining experience ever! Can't believe it was on my birthday 😓 I came here with my best friends to try this 2 Michelin 🌟🌟 restaurant on a Monday night for my birthday dinner. It was undoubtedly very disappointing...Nothing tasted amazing. Everything was just borderline OK. Only their Signature Caviar Tart was delicious but the portion did not justify the hefty price.  We were not informed that a supplement of + HK$688 per person would only get HALF of a Caviar Tart each.  No where on the menu mentioned it either. We expected a full portion for paying so much extra per person! 😭😭😭Yes of course we knew this place would be expensive, but there were just too many add-ons in the dinner menu 💸 Library of Flavors (Dinner Menu) was HK$ 1788 p.p. Then there were the supplements of +HK$ 688 p.p. for Wagyu Beef and  +HK$688 p.p. for only HALF of a Caviar Tart.Their desserts were pretty forgettable as well The only nice little surprise was a chocolate tart with Happy Birthday 🎂 hidden inside a book decoration on the table, which was revealed by the waiter at the end of the night.Perhaps the food just tasted very mediocre. We were displeased when the bill came. Dinner for 4 people (with 2 glasses of wine) was : HK$ 13,300 💰💰💰Each glass of wine 🍷 was : HK$ 550Oh, and they overcharged us HK$ 300 for the cake cutting fee, for a cake we never managed to eat at their restaurant and was packed up in full to bring home.😡Terrible experience!!Outrageously priced.💰Pretty but non tasty foods You would be coming here merely to pay for their 2 Michelin star decor ⭐⭐ If you have cash to blow, please promise me to splurge it elsewhere!!! 💸…Read More

One of my favorite izakayas 👍🏻
Uoharu (M88)
2021-06-01
Easily one of my favorite izakayas after my friend brought me here for the first time! She is a regular here. The restaurant was very cosy and authentic. There was Happy Hour 🍻 buy 1 get 1 free promotion even on Saturday night before 8pm. We had Yakult sake which was delightful It’s definitely for a sweet-tooth and light-weight like me We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including small sashimi platter 🍣 , fried scallop balls, stuffed crab shell 🦀 , egg with egg roes, grilled yam with truffle sauce, etc. Everything was pretty on point, except their truffle sauce wasn’t very distinctive. If you order the stuffed crab shell dish, it would also be best to side order some garlic bread 🥖to dip it with. In the middle of dinner, there was a special performance where the lights of the whole restaurant were turned off to focus on the chefs grilling a big piece of amberjack fish🐟 for the audience. We all had a piece for free Staff were very friendly and efficient. Quick for bringing the food and clearing the table :)One of the waiters was a Japanese and a customer next table was practicing his language skills with her.Dinner for 2 people was: HK$ 700 …Read More

Cheap decent Peking duck! 🦆
Duck Victoria
2021-05-30
Been a long time since I've had Peking duck 🦆, so came by on a Sunday afternoon while shopping at the mall. They took Harbor City Dining coupons here, perfect!  There was a short wait of around 20 minutes and we were in. The restaurant was very spacious with big tables and comfortable seats. There was a semi open kitchen with the Peking ducks hanging at the back and an outdoor patio with sea view. We ordered different dishes to share. Their signature Peking Duck 🦆 was very tasty. Skin was crispy and cooked to perfection. We only ordered half portion, so it was a small portion size. However, I thought their pancake wrap was too thick. I tasted too floury for me.I ended up not using the wraps afterwards. The Sweet & Sour fish was well-balanced and delicious.  The appetizer Bean curd and Chives roll was a bit bland for me and it came later than the main courses. Beef Dan Dan Noodles had a flavorful soup base, but the beef on top was too fatty, almost all fat and no meat. I would recommend to just order the normal Dan Dan Noodles without extra toppings.  Chocolate fondant was mediocre. There was flowy melted chocolate gushing out but again, the cake base tasted very floury. :(Overall, there are hits and misses. Not a bad option in the mall if you're craving for Peking duck or for a casual and affordable Chinese fix. Can try once with a small group of people.Lunch for 3 people was : HK$ 676…Read More

Expensive! 2PCS of Meat Only!
Hiyama (Ocean Terminal)
2021-05-30
I’ve visited the 1 Michelin ⭐️ Hiyama in Tokyo 🇯🇵 but didn’t like it. The place was very old-school and their sukiyaki meat was too fatty for me.So I was not too excited about coming to their new branch here in Hong Kong. But fine, I got Harbour City dining coupons to spend...so checked it out for lunch with the promotion. Unlike the shop in Tokyo, the one here is very modern and sleek in design. The beautiful entry passage with bamboo trees🎋 gives a very tranquil ambience, reminding me of the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto! :)What an elegant entranceUnfortunately this is the only highlight. There was partial harbour view for tables inside the dining area. Once we got seated, we took a look at the lunch set menu which had 8 options but only 1 sukiyaki set, which it is famed for. We ordered Grilled A5 Wagyu Steak with Wasabi Ponzu Sauce (HK$ 438) and Sukiyaki A5 Wagyu with Assorted Vegetables (HK$ 498), of course 🥩 Each lunch set came with a small starter, appetizer, steamed egg, miso soup, steamed rice, pickles and dessert. The food was OK, but nothing to write home about especially at such price. The grilled Wagyu steak was fine but a bit on the dry side. Not juicy enough. The wasabi ponzu sauce gave it a nice kick though.Portions were very small. Sukiyaki set was almost HK$500 and only came with 2 pieces The meat was too fatty for me, as expected. Our waiter cooked the meat and served it in a small bowl. Flavors were there but a bit too oily and definitely not enough food especially for men.Lunch for 2 people (without drinks) was: HK$630 after discount. (Originally would be around HK$1,100)Overall, if you are really keen to try, come with Harbour City dining coupons only. Not worth the full price 💰 You’re paying for decor here, not for food. I feel like I’ve wasted my coupons. Could have used it on another restaurant. I won’t be back.…Read More

Valentine's Day Luncheon🌹
LE PAN
2021-05-27
Specially booked this restaurant for Valentine's Day 🌹 as I've always wanted to try this place. Immaculate, refined and elegant, this place gave a simple romantic atmosphere even in the afternoon.Hidden inside a new commercial building, the restaurant was very spacious with wine cellar and multiple private rooms.Once we were seated, I already found a rose prepared on our table from the restaurant  and was offered a complimentary glass of champagne 🥂We enjoyed the preset 5-course Menu Degustation (HK$1,280 p.p.) with added Wine-pairing  of sommelier's selection (HK$ 880 p.p.) for my partner.  Our lunch began with Amuse Bouche - Ikura with Steamed Egg Custard. Then followed by the first course of Polmard Beef with Caviar.  It looked absolutely stunning with edible flower arrangements   Dungeness Crab Au Gratin was next and it was very cheesy and huge in portions! Quite thick and heavy, I had to pass it to my partner as I could not finish it. He enjoyed every bite!  Came after was the Brittany scallop with risotto and artichoke. It was very refreshing and flavorful. My favorite dish of the meal!  The main course for me was Chicken Seaweed Roll with Foie Gras and Lentils. The meat was very dry I did not finish this dish. My partner had the Duck leg confit with a big fat piece of Foie Gras, which he thought was good. Our last course was the Valentine's Day dessert of Rhurbard with yogurt and dill, which was so-so. :( A bit tasteless. I would have enjoyed a gateau or crème brulee much more. Lunch for 2 people (Menu Degustation with 1 Wine-pairing) was: HK$ 3,883Overall, I thought our lunch was OK. The place and food were much prettier than the taste. Maybe I'm not a fan of French cuisine, so a lot of the ingredients I don't eat such as foie gras, cheese,  beef tartare and duck confit. The price was fair for lunch at a fine-dining restaurant on a special occasion. Much cheaper than their dinner set already. However, with so many more options at this price range, I won't revisit anytime soon.  …Read More

We came on the 1st day of Chinese New Year 🧧 (大年初一) for family yum cha. It was semi-full. We managed to secure a window table with the spectacular Victoria Harbor view The biggest selling point here! With floor to ceiling big windows, the restaurant also had a vast outdoor area with seating tables.Besides the scenery, their food was disappointing. Food here was quite ordinary and gave no surprises at all. Couldn't really find the fusion twist in the taste. It just looked pretty. We ordered some dim sum dishes that were very forgettable, such as Steamed Shrimp Dumplings in Bamboo Charcoal Wrapping (HK$80), Xiao Long Bao (HK$ 62), Shrimp Toast with Fish Roe (HK$ 62) and Crispy Rice Rolls with Mashed Cuttlefish (HK$ 68). You could possibly find it in many other Chinese restaurants. The only 2 dishes we liked were Sea Urchin & Matsutake Morel Mushroom Braised Rice (HK$ 308) and Deep Fried Sesame Dumplings with Egg Custard Cream (HK$ 80) which was a dessert. They were more notable and unique in taste for the entire meal.Too bad their Barbequed Pork Char Siu and Wagyu Beef Puff with Black Pepper were sold out :( Couldn't try them.Lunch for 3 people (without alcohol) was: HK$ 1000Overall,  I won't come back again, even if the view here is amazing. Maybe worth to try once only, or not. …Read More

Must Order: Dry-Aged Wagyu!! 🥩
SEOLHAMYEOK
2021-05-21
Located inside Harbor City, I booked a table 2 weeks in advance for a busy Sunday night as the restaurant was super popular, especially with the mall's dining coupon promotion. Perfect for meat lovers 🥩, this place specialized in grilled Wagyu meat but they also served pork and classic traditional Korean dishes.  Vast options of different cuts and parts of beef 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻  We ordered one Signature Tasting Menu (HK$650) with a supplement for House Dry-Aged Wagyu Chuck Tail Flap (HK$ 420) along with a few A La Carte items to share. The Tasting Menu (HK$ 650 p.p.) included:- Ginseng Chicken 🐔 starter- Wagyu Ox Tongue Platter 👅- Wagyu Top Blade- Assorted Meat Platter: Prime Chuck Tail Flap, Jeju Pork Belly and Pork Ribs 🐖- Miyazaki A4 Sirloin with egg 🥚and rice 🍚-Dessert 🍰 Soooo much food for a 1 person set!🍽 Excellent variety.Pork meat was so-so, but all the beef cuts were on point 👌🏻 Our favorite was definitely the additional item, House Dry-Aged Wagyu Chuck Tail Flap The chef sliced the pieces in front of us and the meat was served with a selection of different seasonings like wasabi, pepper, Himalayan salt 🧂. Our favorite garnish was the Yuzu wasabi sauce! Highly recommend the Dry-Aged Wagyu!!! For A La Carte, we ordered their other signatures like Korean Spare Ribs (HK$ 315), Wagyu Rib Finger (HK$ 198), Stone Bibimbap with Beef (HK$ 128), and Ssamjang with Vegetables (HK$ 70) to wrap the meat with. The meat was so succulent & delicious!Besides the delectable food, the restaurant had an elegant and cosy ambiance with natural wooden interior and the most adorable robot 🤖 that travelled around to each table to drop off food! Super cute!!It could even sing Happy Birthday 🎂 in Korean.Extraordinary service from the lady manager in short hair and black shirt and our waiter who was a young and handsome guy. They were both friendly, attentive and very helpful.Recommendations were amazing. Our waiter gave excellent introductions to each course and assisted us to grill every single piece of meat. Also, he gave us unlimited refills of all the small appetizer dishes for free!  Thank you so much!! Kamsamida 🙏🏻Dinner for 3 people (with 3 glasses of Plum/ Yuzu wine) was : HK$ 2170 Overall, incredible dining experience!! Definitely get what you pay for! Excellent meat quality, service and environment. Highly recommend itProbably my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant now. Will definitely be back! …Read More

Yummy but Small Portions for Sichuan Delicacy🌶️
1935 Restaurant
2021-05-20
I love spicy food🌶️ but not really the fiery, numbing type from Sichuanese delicacy. However, this place offered more depth and flavors than just tongue burns. With elegant and artsy interior, this restaurant definitely gave out a more sophisticated vibe than most of the local Chinese restaurants.  My family and I ordered many dishes for sharing from their extensive menu, which served Canto-influenced Sichuanese cuisine. For appetizers, we had a few items. Crispy Okra and Mountain Yam with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce (HK$110) was a delight. Very lovely in presentation, the dish was super flavorful and crispy. Recommend!  Braised Winter Melon in Conpoy and Chicken Stock (HK$140) was another hit. Very simple and natural in taste, the dish was full of craftsmanship. Looked like a vine of grapes 🍇, how adorable!  A good dish to clear the palate.  Crispy Bean Curd Skin (HK$ 80) was very well fried as it was super thick and moist, unlike the dry and thin pieces you would normally get from other restaurants. Chilled Chicken with Truffle and Coriander 🐔 (HK$ 135) was good too but truffle flavor was not strong enough. For mains, my family thought the Fried Mandarin Fish in Sweet & Sour Sauce (HK$250) 🐟 was very appetizing. The fish meat was very smooth and tender.  Wok-fried Beef Tenderloin with Scallions (HK$ 185) was full of flavors and very well cooked, but more ordinary in Cantonese cuisine. Fried King Prawns with Ginger, Garlic and Coriander in Sichuan Chili Sauce with (HK$250)  was amazing! One of my favorite dishes of the night. Shrimp itself was very juicy and big in size along with the delectable sauce that wasn't actually as spicy as it looked.  Perfect to pour that sauce over a bowl of rice. 🍚 Recommend!  Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Sichuan Dried Chili 🦀🌶️  (HK$ 240) was the most spicy dish and highlight of the night! One of their signature dishes Perfectly  fried and seasoned, each piece of crab meat was big and juicy with a slight spicy, numbing kick. Highly recommend Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles (HK$ 85) 🍜 is my all-time favorite. I order it at every restaurant. I must say theirs was excellent!  However, very small in size. A bit expensive due to the portion.  We had to order another one to share. Could be spicier and larger in size. Truffle, Conpoy, Egg White Fried Rice (HK$ 135) was quite plain and dull. Only good thing was it wasn't oily. Again, I couldn't really taste any truffle:(As for desserts, since 2 selections were already sold out, we ordered Matcha Red Bean Crepe (HK$ 70) and Sweet Fermented Rice Soup Dumpling (HK$ 60), which were OK. Nothing special. Crepe was a bit too dry.Dinner for 7 people with Eatigo promotion of 20% off (with no alcohol) was : HK$ 1,850.Average per person : HK$ 265Overall, super delicious Chinese food with a spicy or flavorful kick! 🌶️ Many non-spicy options as well. Slightly expensive for Sichuan food with very small portion size especially for Dan Dan noodles, which is a bit of a rip-off. Don't expect big plates like in regular Chinese restaurants. Recommend coming with only a small group to share.  Flavors are certainly there though …Read More

Very happening on the night before a public holiday, we waited outside the restaurant with other crowds and were seated at our table once all parties arrived. So make sure your friends come on time with you to take your seat! Walk-ins only. Hungry and thirsty, we began with a carafe of Sauvignon Blanc (HK$ 210) 🥂 to cool off from the summer heat 🥵 Note: Full bottle is another price, not listed on menu.We ordered Project Tasting Menu (HK$ 195 p.p.) for the entire table, and it was incredible!  As we were a party of 3, we could select 3 items from Antipasti or Gnocco Fritto section, 3 pizzas and 3 desserts. It was a lot of food! 🐷We chose the Burrata, Tuna Carpaccio and Truffle Gnocco Truffle for starters. I highly recommend to get all of these! All so delicious!!  For pizzas, we had Carbonara, Salsiccia E Funghi (Spicy Sausage with Mushrooms) , and Pesto. All were freshly baked and flavorful. They came in full size even with the Tasting menu! Our favorite was the Spicy Sausage pizza 🍕 Very well-seasoned and full of different tastes and textures from the ingredients. Just not spicy enough! Would recommend putting spicy oil 🌶️ and chili flakes on top to elevate the flavors Carbonara pizza was very unique and cute in presentation. Tasty but quite salty with the bacon. Pesto pizza was more mild as its all veggies. Desserts were nothing sensational. We shared 2 Tiramisu and 1 White Chocolate Mousse with raspberry jam and mixed nut. The latter was very sweet. We had so much food leftover that we packed up takeaways to bring home! In fact, we had a whole pizza left unfinished  Very generous portions.Staff were very busy but super friendly and gave each table Limoncello shots 🍋 before leaving. What a fun vibe!Dinner per head (Project Tasting Menu) : HK$ 195No service chargeOverall, definitely worth trying if you are craving for delicious, fresh pizzas! 🍕 Come hungry! Order their Project Tasting Menu to choose your favorite items. Big portions. Excellent value! Highly recommend it!…Read More

We were initially on waitlist then required to pay a deposit upon booking for a group of 4 on a Saturday night. However, to our surprise, it was quite empty when we arrived.  There was no live jazz music either, which was what their website was hard selling. A bit disappointedThe restaurant had a quiet, dim ambience with modern influences. We sat down and ordered a bottle of red wine 🍷 and fusion Japanese food to share from their short and simple menu. Japanese King and Snow Crab Salad 🦀 with kohlrabi, fruit tomato and kani miso (HK$ 188) was very refreshing and absolutely delicious with different textures at every bite. Super beautiful in presentation too. Highlight of the night!  Definitely recommend trying! Only thing was the portion size. All of us just had a small scoop to share.:(Nagano Tomato Salad 🍅was also appetizing (HK$128), but again, very small in portions. Their signature Fifty Shades of Toro (HK$ 298) 🍣consisted of 2 pieces of otoro, chu toro and akami each. Yummy! But actually not very remarkable as you could find it in most izayakas along with other types of maki rolls, probably at a lower price too.Australian Outback (HK$ 348) 🥩 was a delicious piece of grilled wagyu of a leaner cut which was perfect for my taste  Well cooked and well seasoned.Of course, there was Wagyu Sando (HK$ 388)! 🥪 One of their signatures - wagyu katsu tenderloin with kewpie mayo and katsu sauce in milk bread. Super succulent and tasty! One piece each was not enough! Another must get!For desserts, we had Matcha cheesecake (HK$ 88) and Hokkaido (HK$ 98). You could definitely give the matcha cheesecake a miss. It was very bland without any texture or flavors. Very forgettableOn the other hand, Hokkaido was marvelous! It was panna cotta with white chocolate, brown butter ice cream and full of textures. We all enjoyed that very much! Dinner for 4 people (with a bottle of red wine) was : HK$ 2234.Overall, the food here is very delicious but it's quite expensive due to the small portion size. We only ordered very limited food at this price. Hard for sharing. Most people would be leaving hungry. Worth to try once! Or if someone else is paying …Read More

Quick and Cheap Lunch Omakase 🍣
Hanami
2021-05-18
Finally checked out this place for lunch after seeing glowing reviews! 🍣 Luckily I booked it a few weeks early as the sushi bar counter was very full even on a weekday. There were various lunch set options around HK$300, besides omakase. I ordered Chef's recommendation of 12 pieces (HK$ 420) which was the maximum set. You could add extra pieces too, of course. I heard the waiter recommending different fresh items of the day to the ladies next to me as supplements. Another group was ordering yakitori as extras. This restaurant was certainly very diversified with their available food selection! Definitely more of a HK localized and casual option.Don't expect traditional Japanese style here especially since their sushi has got a fusion twist.Lunch sets came with a salad, small appetizer, steamed egg, miso soup and a hot drink.  The 12 pieces consisted of 9 nigiris, 1 small sea urchin rice bowl and 2 handrolls. Each of the nigiri was very fresh and well-garnished. Some had special seasonings and sauces to elevate the flavors! All the pieces were delicious in general.Sea Urchin bowl was tasty with seaweed seasoning. However, I've had a bigger and better one at Kokorozashi where the sea urchin was much creamier and sweeter in comparison. For the handrolls, there were : Fried Scallop and Flounder Fish. Unfortunately, I found the fried scallop quite tasteless. It looked more interesting than it tasted. The flounder fish one was very juicy and a little oily but definitely very flavorful and well balanced with the seaweed wrap. The biggest disappointment here would be no toro handroll. Not part of any omakase set. Other sushi restaurants usually include it in their sets, but you would need to add-on as extra 💰 here.In terms of the pace, my lunch felt a little rush as the chefs served each piece quite quickly. Miso soup and steamed egg were also served between the meal when usually would be served after the last course. No dessert provided here either.:(Lunch for 12 pcs omakase was : HK$ 420 + 10% Overall, this place offers satisfactory lunch omakase with a great value. A quick and easy option. Very casual and friendly environment. Worth to try once. But at a similar price point, I would recommend Sushi Nyoi in the area, which I think is more professional in terms of environment, service, technique and overall details.…Read More

Worth to try! Michelin⭐⭐⭐ Lunch
L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon
2021-05-18
I've been here a long time ago for dinner, but my friends were telling me to check it out again for lunch as they really enjoyed it A lot cheaper too in the afternoonBooked a few weeks in advance, this 3 Michelin star ⭐⭐⭐ restaurant  has always been very popular especially for their lunch deals. There are 2 areas L'Atelier (bar counter seats) and Le Jardin (table seats) with slight difference in pricing for the same food. Their lunch menu ranges from HK$590 to HK$890 with supplement to certain dishes. We sat at the bar counter as I like to watch the chefs prepare. It was quite spacious actually. They made sure each group had their own area. As expected, we were greeted with the lovely, generous bread basket 🥐, which is always one of my favorite things for fine-dining!  We ordered 2 refreshing cocktails 🍸 while sampling the different types of bread Started off with Amuse Bouche, it was a smooth velvety egg custard with bursting ikura in the mouth. For appetizers, I added a supplement of HK$280 for their signature Le Caviar Imperial which incorporated 3 layers: Caviar, Sea urchin Jelly and King Crabmeat.  It was one of the best things I've eaten! Very flavorful yet light , you could taste the combination of freshness at every bite . I could easily have eaten another tin! Highly recommend to add-on! My partner had the Pork Trotters 🐖 on toasted parmesan gratin with salad which was OK but a little bit hard to eat as the baguette on the bottom is quite hard. This course was on the oily and salty side.Followed by a hot soup of Spiced Carrot Veloute with onion royale and chorizo, it was delicious! We licked the plateFor main course, I had the signature Maine Lobster Spaghetti 🦞🍝with coral emulsion with a supplement of HK$ 150. Omg it was amazing!!  Lobster meat was big and juicy...and that sauce was absolutely delectable!I could finish another plate by myself! My partner had 2 main courses which were the Black Cod with miso sauce 🐟 and Pan seared Beef with onions 🥩. Both dishes were stunning as well!  The fish was very moist and the meat was well cooked and seasoned. For desserts, we chose the Creamy Hazelnut Chocolate  cake 🌰 with vanilla ice cream and Strawberry 🍓and Yuzu Mousse with almond biscuit and crispy meringue. They tasted OK but unremarkable. Super full already by now, we were also offered coffee☕ and tea with the lunch set along with confectioneries to complete our wonderful meal.Lunch for 2 people (with supplements and 2 cocktails) was : HK$2,540What an amazing lunch deal, especially for a 3 star ⭐⭐⭐Michelin! Superb food at a bargain. Highly recommend it! Cannot wait to come back again…Read More
