HI TEA (Pak Tai Street)
2023-04-10
Ordered the afternoon tea-set “Hi+Tea” oven baked spaghetti with pork katsu. Had no issues before, but this time there was a hard wood like piece in the spaghetti which is a potential choking hazard. Asked the waiter whom she brought back to the kitchen and came back telling me it’s chicken skin… how can the chicken skin be so dark and black. weird..as I have eaten it multiple times and never had chicken skin in my spaghetti ordered from this restaurant. taste: 3/5value: 3/5 …Read More

BTB - Better Than Burger
2022-09-28
Long wait for takeout, had high anticipation and hopes for the burger with all the hype. Cut to the chase burger was pretty bland, me and my friend both agreed the beef patty tasted like it was par boiled. Not juicy and had no flavour. Nothing special about the donut bun, maybe if they used sugar glazed it might taste better. My friends marshmallow burger weren’t even melted as the photo indicated. Overall will not return given the taste of food and 45 min wait.…Read More

…Read More

Amaroni's New York Italian Restaurant & Café (又一城)
2021-10-29

Hotpot King (Chuang's London Plaza)
2021-03-21
This was one of my casual dining to go list I watched from Mr.Chan’s YouTube reviews. I picked the half and half hotpot of spicy beef and herbal fungus soap base which was $48 additional on top. Soup was okay, not very herbal and spicy was not spicy for medium. I think it’s a little watered down in my opinion with mixture of broth + soup base powder. 6/10 for hotpot soup (pros: not overly salty)For the food, the selection is very limited which comes to about 6 different options for most food category. Example for meat: 2 choices for beef, chicken and pork. Plates come in small portion so you can try many dishes and not waste food which is good. 6/10 for variety of selection6/10 for freshness some were good some were bad (the dumpling were way too salty and the beef tripe 牛柏葉 was not fresh as there was an ammonia after taste)The egg yolk fried fish skin (1 free order per table) was kinda hard, but other than that the batter is not too salty. Drinks selection are mostly house brew tea and packaged tea. There are canned soda as well. Alcohol you have to pay per order which everything is order through your phone via QR code. Dessert are limited to ONE selection of available ice cream from movenpick to Haagen-daaz. Overall, no wow or boo. If your around the area it’s worth a try but if not there are plenty of selection for the price. I think the restaurant gave Mr.Chan better cuts and dishes since he was vlogging. …Read More

Down but not all the way at the bottom
Greyhound Café (MOKO
2014-07-08
Arrived at 10pm half an hour before kitchen last call, got seated and ordered quickly. First time dining here so we order 2 mains and 1 starter just incase the portion were too small. Spaghetti cha cha cha got to our table first and as the waiter places the plate down I can immediately see an excess of runny water being tilted which looked very unappetizing. The taste and smell of the food is very disappointing making us wonder of the next 2 dish is going to be worse. Second comes the pita pizza which looked more liked a quesadilla and tasted like one too. Cheese and sausage was bland and a bit greasy. Lastly the mini burger comes and it is the best of the three which lifts our spirit back up a little after 2 disappointments. Burger patty was seasoned and juicy, one thing I would tweak is maybe add an individual sauce for each different burger to make it more unique because it's only a thin slice of zucchini, strawberry, and bacon differentiating them. Overall, pretty pricy for the food quality and i reckon for the price paid there are a lot more better choices.…Read More

Appetizer TrolleyA choice out of approximately 15 items or so to choose from to create your own appetitzer with all the dishes of your preference. Some may think that a self picked trolley appetitzer will not be any good but believe me it's definately fine dining level of food satisfaction tailored for you. MainOut of all my turkey consumption expierences, this is one of the juiciest turkey i have ever had which blended perfectly with the sauce with a hint of smokey flavor. Dessert Trolley An absolutely satisfying dessert with a wide selection of choice that will top off everything. For those who are not into sweets, the trolley also had a selection of fruits for the health watchers to choose from so choices are not only limited for people with a sweet tooth. In conclusion, i would highly recommend all to visit Hugo for their unique variety of appetizer and dessert trolley selection which cannot be expierenced in some hotel fine dinings. Not to mention, on my birthday they prepared an in house made chocolate coated ice cream surprise for me which was very thoughtful and unforgetable. 5/5 …Read More

Friendly Dining Japanese Restaurant
Tomokazu Japanese Restaurant

Decided to check this place out for dinner since it was recommended by a family member...first impression of the restaurant and the decor is good as the seats were nicely spaced between tables. Decided to order the special set for 2 person $620 which includes Crab Salad, Sashimi Platter, a set of sushi, dried fish, fried tempera, and fish soup udon. On top of the set dinner we also ordered salmon hand roll x 2, california hand roll, and a soft shell hand roll. 1) The crab salad was decent as imitation crab was provided along with shredded lettice but there was a generous amount of caviar which blended in quite nicely. 3/5 2) The sashimi platter came with salmon, abalone, tuna, sea snails, and a kind of fish. Not too impressed about the sashimi platter as the tuna was a little mushy/powdery, the salmon didn't have a sea fatty flavor & texture, the abalone was nothing special, and the rest were kind of bland. 2.5/5 3) Tuna Onion Maki came with the 2 person set which tasted not bad as the onion were able to enrich the flavor of the diced tuna placed ontop of the maki. 3.5/54) Dried fish was suprisely good and would recommend it to anyone. My first impression was "what i got myself into, this does not look very good..." but once it entered my mouth it felt like i had to compliment it because it tasted beyond my expectations. The dried fish were sliced into shreds and the texture tasted like eating a soft jerky. The layer is coated with something sweet and the fish flavor tasted mild which mixed very well with the layer of coated flavoring. 4/5 5) Just like any tempera nothing too much to mention other than the material used were defintely higher grade groceries. 3.5/56) The fish soup udon was great as the soup base was definately made with fresh fishes with not much MSG or artificial flavoring which was very sweet and fresh in terms of the taste. The udon were no ordinary udons which are the flat ones possibily made in house. A dish i would recommend trying which i'll rate it 3.5/5 7) Salmon handroll were decent but in a generous amount. 3.5/58) Californai handroll were average and i would recommend sticking with the maki instead of the hand rolls. 3/5 9) Soft shell crab hand roll were decent and luckily the crab were not overly seasoned. 3/5 Overall, its a restaurant i would return sometime in the future but not frequently since there are a lot more choices for the same price paid. The price and the quality of food are very reasonable. Overall, i would rate it 3.5/5  …Read More

Passable
Ka Ma Do Japanese Restaurant
2013-12-15
In terms of location and weekend of the day, the waiting time to be seated was definitely quicker than anticipated. Quick insight on the food for 4 people 1) Ordered the premium sashimi platter approx $520. The uni and salmon was passable but everything else on the platter is worth skipping as the slices of sashimi were too thick and prepared in bulk ahead of time which lost its taste and texture. Rating 2/52) Fried cod fish was good as they flavoring was adjusted proportionately and the fish was hot and fresh when served. Rating 3.5/5 3) California maki is double the standard and nothing too special about it. 2/5 4) Baked oysters was in the recommended signature dish so we placed one order of that and it turned out to be one of the best dishes we had. Oyster weren't the best in terms of quality but it was definitely fat, well flavored, and not over cooked. 3.5/5 5) Baked squid balls with cheese was favorable but personally I think there was too much dough than actual squid and sauce which made it a little dry. 2.5/5 6) Shrimp uni sushi maki was horrible as the quality of uni was different and stank compared to the platter ones. 0/5 Do not order!!!! 7) Three belly sushi, which consisted of 3 kinds of fish belly including tuna, salmon, and one other. Tuna was ok but everything else can be thrown into the trash as the salmon one tasted like rotten fish. 1/5 8) Beef kabob should be avoided as it was cold and dry when the dish was brought to our table. Not to mention not a droplet of sauce on it. 0/5 9) shrimp kabob should be avoided as well but slightly better than the beef. 1.5/5 10) Chicken wing kabob is dry as well like eating a jerky. Makes me wonder if all the kabob should be avoided. 1/5 Overall dinner experience 2/5 including decor, value for money, and quality. To be honest if it wasn't the price being so cheap in Peking road 1 tower of TST I would've given this place a zero and never coming back again. All in points went toward cheap dining for Japanese food at prime location. 4 people dinner including 720ml of sake ended up costing around $12,XXX was cheap. Final words good place to go for sushi/good location when your on a tight budget. Sushi quality no different than food court.…Read More

Worst than fast food Indian..
Gaylord Indian Restaurant
2013-04-10
Attracted into this restaurant by the Michelin 1 star recommendation billboard at the ground floor. Ordered the 2 person set B dinner which was mandatory to order the same set. First appetizer dish came with the chicken with some sort fried ball on a sizzling pan. Chicken 1/5: The powder on the chicken wasn't even cooked as if the chef sparkled onto without spending the effort of dissolving the spices, would probably gag on the powder if you inhaled while putting the chicken pieces in your mouth.Fried ball stuffing 2/5: No taste and seasoning as one would expect Indian food to be favorable. The garnish of onion and pepper had a piece of hair in it which made me lose complete appetite for the dish. Garlic bread dough 4/5: only dish that was actually good but a bit too greasy. Blended Spanish with cheese 2/5: No flavor and the cheese had little to no taste. Beef dish 1/5: Sauce tasted awful and the beef was hard and rough. Fried rice 2/5: Plain rice with nothing in it as I suppose you mix it with the other dishes with horrible sauces. Bread dessert 2/5: Nothing special just baked bread with drenched in sugar syrup. Overall, horrible service provided by the lady with attitude problems and was not very enthusiastic to assist you. Hygienic problems all over the restaurant as the Bartender was picking his nose while cleaning the wine glasses and hair found in food. One of the worst dining experience and Indian food ever ate. Honest conclusion even fast food chain "curry in a hurry" tastes 5 times better than this place. Avoid at all cost!! …Read More

The Press Room

cut down to the chase..orderedonion soup 5.5/10 cheese wasn't baked for long enough for that slight brown baked texture. Not enough flavor in the soup. clam in white wine 7/10 clams were definately fresh and not even sandy at all! Sauce went really well flavourable enough not to cover the freshness of the clam.lobster rissoto 6.5/10 Generous amount of lobster given. Not too saucy but it was a little bit too salty and the rice weren't cooked well enough as it was a bit hard. Diver scallops 7.5/10 Scallops were surprisingly fresh and cooked perfectly. Not too heavy of a dish as there were enough salad to go along with the scallops. Sauce did not cover the freshness of the scallops. Prime steak frites 4.5/10 The fries were no doubt good but the prime steak quality wasn't that great as it was too "chewy" enough tho i specified "medium rare" Overall, the ambience and service is good but the food were not up to my standard for the price. In conclusion I would go again during lunch to try their other dishes . …Read More
