Nice brunch spot!
HUSO
2025-08-31
Came here with some girlfriends for brunch - nice experience overall!I like how the appetisers come in such small portions, so we could try it all (and they’re quite nice!) :- Potatoes egg salad with caviar on top - Mozzarella with bell pepper and walnut- Crab salad, consomme jelly- Amaebi tartare- Minced fatty tuna with crispy seaweedGazpacho- very refreshing soupFeta cheese spaghetti (sprinkled with dry caviar)Beef cheek fettuccine 💯 my fav dish of the meal! Very rich in flavour Duck leg confit would be great if there’s a bit more sauce imo; love the buttery mash on the side!Black cod with seafood broth - we also enjoyed this dish :)Amazing service and ambience as well in general - will probably come back again!…Read More

Overpriced and poor quality
Shikigiku Japanese Restaurant
2025-05-19
I haven’t written any reviews on restaurants for years, but the food here was just too bad that I feel the need to warn the others before trying.Anyway… came in for dinner last Friday night and the meal was horrible …Ordered the assorted diced sashimi rice (large), wagyu beef rice, soft shell crab roll, tamagoyaki and fried chicken cartridge (and a sparkling tea) for 2 people - I’m glad we didn’t order more, as none of the dishes were worth it. I should say they were of poor quality, just like a random unauthentic Japanese restaurant that can’t justify charging over 100 per head.Assorted diced sashimi rice (HKD 680), soft shell crab roll at the backFor a hefty 680 I wouldn’t expect this! As shown from the picture, there weren’t much sashimi pieces to begin with, and there were also TENDONS in such small pieces which probably shows how bad the quality of the fishes were. Many places offer like this for around 200 with much better quality… Soft shell crab roll (120) at the back was normal - nothing special.Tamagoyaki, Japanese omelette (130)Almost tasteless, well cooked and the radish on the left was bitter… I had a bite from the Wagyu beef rice (490) my boyfriend ordered, and all I can say is it’s just like HKD 50 worth of bowl of YOSHINOYA!! Paying 10 times more I would expect actual Wagyu beef as it’s stated on the menu, but nope - it tasted like ordinary US sliced beef with strong RANK ODOR. I was too frustrated to take any more pictures at this point.Matcha icecream (70)Probably the best dish of the night lol it was alright; I like that they added red beans, but they’re a bit too sweet to the point of tasting artificial, unlike the usual red beans from Japan I’ve had from various places. Given the quality of the other dishes, I don’t think that they used the red beans from Japan.Overall, the food quality was disastrous - for this price point and a restaurant located in Four Seasons, this is totally unacceptable. Perhaps their signature dishes are teppanyaki/ tempura but that’s no excuse. If simple dishes like the ones we ordered weren’t even properly prepared, then I doubt the others would be good. The staffs were friendly, but that can’t change the fact that this was an unpleasant experience brought down by the food quality.I didn’t even bother providing any feedback on the spot, knowing this place has actually been here for years (surprised how they could survive this long when there are soo many better Japanese restaurants around) so don’t think they will have any improvements. …Read More

Baileys madness !
GREEN
2020-08-26
Lucky enough to managed to secure a seat for the hyped Baileys afternoon tea literally right before the no dine-in ban! We made the booking about 2-3 weeks ago which was quite full already by that time so you see it’s really popular ...Sorry to disappoint those who still wanna try this since this Baileys-themed afternoon tea set should have ended in late July already.Just wanna have a quick recap it was overall a great theme especially for Baileys lovers, since almost each of the desserts contained Baileys (but not being too sweet) ! Heard great things about GREEN before but felt like staffs (I believe they’re perm staffs / managers) need more training though as they were not too friendly and welcoming in general, definitely not up to standard for a hotel (like a 2-3 star hostel? Trainees were even “more polite”)…Read More

Love their japchae and cup rice!
Babiya
2020-08-26
Been getting takeaway from this little place since 2016 and I still can’t resist their kimchi cup rice and japchae (vermicelli)!A place you’d wna go grab KR food but definitely not light - portion is just right and food is of course authentic! The owners are Koreans btw and very friendly (I believe they should be a family?)Apologies for the bad picture... was too hungry from work 😂I always come back anyway, definitely recommend their cup rice apart from this jap chae!Ordered delivery for dinner a few times as well with the other small dishes which are equally nice 👍🏻…Read More

Stillmy best Thai joint!
Samsen 泰麵
2020-02-19
Came here a few nights ago with three others for the 3rd/4th time and Samsen is stilllll my fav Thai resto to-go!For the past month people don’t go out much and with restaurants / businesses closing because of the coronavirus, Samsen remains a popular spot where we had to queue for about 20 mins still so you can see how good their food really isI think I’ve ordered this Stir fried flat noodles with Wagyu ($138) every time... and it’s still my fav! What I love the most is they use flat noodles and not all Thai restos can serve “chewy” flat noodles it might not be shown in the picture here but there’s generous amount of Wagyu !and for the sauce used makes the whole dish absolutely scrumptious !I am very demanding when it comes to stir fried (Thai) noodles and this is for sure one of the best I’ve ever had If you think rice noodles are too filling then this Stir fried glass noodles (or vermicelli) with seafood ($128) is the one for you The sauce on the side is slightly sour and spicy which makes the dish soo flavourful... sooo appetising !The noodles were cooked just right as well - one of the issues with a lot of restos offering vermicelli is that they’re always overcooked to a point that they’re so “soft” to eat and always breaking apartMy boyfriend and one of the friends had two bowls of this Boat noodles with pork ($128)Meanwhile the soup base might not suit everyone’s liking but it’s still one of my favs - with the best soup anddd the soup noodles (cooked just right as well)!I’m not sure how the soup was made and what were the exact ingredients were used to be honest but I just love it...I had the one with Wagyu for the last few times I came and this one with pork did not disappoint me!Fried pork collar ($68)I’d say this can’t really fail right ... I like how they sprinkled the garlic on top to add that extra flavour and not too tangy👍🏻And of course how can I miss their icecream ?!Had the coconut one before and we decided to have this Thai red tea one this time ($68)It’s “silky smooth” and tastes exactly like the milk tea - always a great icecream flavour !The coconut meat was again amazing with the icecream (I’m a super fan of coconut so it adds a bonus!)Cute how they serve the icecream in the coconut shell as well! This whole thing is just 💯 Last but not least gotta give some credits to this Thai milk tea as usual ($48)Seems that it gets sweeter every time I came back, quite sugary which I hope they can tone down on the sugar a little but heyy it remains one of the best Thai milk tea I’ve ever had To conclude basically everything here is my fav so I can’t really pick my “favourite dish” ...I’d recommend ordering at least one stir fried noodles and a bowl of their soup noodles for a party of 2 or aboveAlso their decors is another reason I had to came back - feels like I’m in Bangkok~*Hope they can keep up the good work in their new Sheungwan branch…Read More

Summer Ice
2019-09-15

Ming
2018-08-18

Was I just unlucky or this is it?
Superdon (Lockhart Road)
2017-08-03
I usually just share the good meals I had and this may look pretty good but anyway...People seemed to be soo hyped up on Superdon in recent and there's always a long queue. My friend was waiting for me after work the other day so we decided to give it a shot since I also noticed there's been quite a lot of good reviews.I ordered this customised don with scallops (HKD90), ark shell ($68), prime salmon ($58) and olive flounder muscle ($48)I gotta say I was pretty disappointed...none of these were fresh! The olive flounder muscles was the WORST - it was so "fishy" to be a point where I couldn't take it The ark shell wasn't fresh at all as well, and there's only 1 small piece of it Salmon was very fat, scallops were alrightGiven the high rating of this restaurant I'm not sure if I was just unlucky that night or people are blinded by the hype... To be honest I'd totally visit somewhere else for better donburi 🤔…Read More

"Bon appétit!"
Odelice! (蘭杜街)
2016-01-03
I was thrilled to be invited for food tasting at Odelice! since it's on my to-go list for a while I came with a friend earlier in December and I still remember how I enjoyed the meal that nightWe could order anything we wanted but we don't have astounding appetite so we picked a gallete, a pasta, a crepe (of coursee), a smoothie and a cappuccino for my friend~What came first was the spaghetti Portobello and mixed mushroom spaghetti  in truffle sauce ($98)No doubt it's a savoury dish and I just can't say no to truffle-anything This wasn't like creamy, but I'd say the truffle sauce was really aromatic that I could taste the strong truffle and mushroom for every bite! Then came the gallete - Sainte Maure Gao Cheese, Spinach, Pine Nuts ($98)The fluffiest gallete I've ever had lol I REALLY liked it. A cheese lover like me would totally dig this as it was so full of goat cheese, not only the 5 pieces showing in the picture but you could find the cheese inside the gallete as well, making it even more flavourful Last but not least, the Deluxe Crepe - Cinnamon apples,  caramel sauce and icecream ($68)Caramel sauce is always my thing when it comes to crepe so I couldn't miss thisThis was like having an apple pie + crepe together haha my friend and I loved it!The coconut, mango and passion fruit smoothie I had ($42)Satisfied another crave of mine for smoothie Anyway thanks for the invite once again Odelice! I'll pay another visit in the near future for sure…Read More

organic food?
Sohofama
2015-07-08
Recommended by my foodie bestie (who runs the foodstagram with me check out my profile )and Sugar, I've finally paid a visit here which I've been talking about this for months! Cozy place and I fell in love with the lighting of their bar :)Came here with 2 girl friends for dinner. Under this scorching weather I really had to order a cocktail to cool myself down... so each of us ordered our own and I got this Hong Kong Sling ($98)Pretty sugary but the taste was good anyway!Started off with the 3 half drunken organic eggs ($18 for half)A little overcooked for me but it tasted just like the drunken chicken. Scrumptious for sure (Y)*v*Tea-smoked duck ($238)No bones which was of great convenience lol and not greasy at all. A healthy choice but nothing surprisingCold soba noodle with chicken ($88)I've been munching on cold noodles since the summer heat has invaded Hong KongAn ordinary cold soba noodle but I liked it anyway Homemade XO scallops with organic fried rice ($158)With just a few pieces of scallops this was overpriced in my opinionThe XO could be richer as well Glutinous rice balls with black sesame paste($60)Nothing surprising. Should have tried the deep fried rice balls!Portions were a bit too small in general, friendly staffs is a bonus though(;Guess the hype is all on how Sohofama supports farmers and using organic ingredients?…Read More

New shabushabu gem!
Nabe Urawa (Grand Plaza)
2015-06-26
Internship has started for a week and bringing home a tired soul every night, but anyway I decided to pig out with my best friend to pamper myself for a bit We ordered a supreme beef set with the spicy konbu soup base($178+10% per head)(Sorry I only snapped 1 pic I was too busy eating...)Just like other all-you-can-eat shabu shabu places, there are a variety of different hotpot ingredients as you can see here like the fishballs, vegs etc etcThe beef was sooo good!! I literally munched on 2/3 plates on my own as my friend was too full to stuff any so soon lolThe soup base was a little too spicy for me though and got my eyes tearing... will try the tomato and lobster soup base next time!***One cannot miss out the soft serve thereit was soo good especially the original flavor! It wasn't melting as wellIt was almost better than those served in the yoghurt places …Read More

New must-have(s) in Cheungchau!
Stayplus Bakery
2015-06-09
Missing the delicacies in Cheung Chau and the weather's finally good! It's scorching hot though...Anyway so glad to have found these snacks here! Definitely some must-haves 魚仔燒Fish-shaped Dorayaki ($20/4 pcs)This little fish doesn't only look cute but it surely has some wow factors for its taste! It has some milk/cheese stuffing, pretty soft yet not fragile. It doesn't come in a big size but pcs would be enough~麻糬格仔餅Mochi Waffle($20)What a great combination! I have been looking for some chewy waffles and this is for sure one of the best I've ever had :) The mochi inside is probably made of black sugar and wasn't too sweet. Basically the whole waffle has the mochi stuffing *nomnom*I'm coming back to this shop every time I visit CC Island …Read More

Le French May!
La Crêperie
2015-05-31
LA Creperie has been on my to-go list for quite a while and I still haven't been to the Wanchai and Sheungwan branches....finally got to try the delicacies and big thanks to the invitation at this new branch! I came here at 6:30pm after movie (:Tommi the manager was really friendly and helpful for the whole meal. Everything was recommended by him as there were way too any choices to pick... I'm indecisive when it comes to food lol The Hong Kong weather boils me up and I really needed something to cool me down, so Tommi was suggesting that I could try this cider. Ordered this Cidre "Val De Rance" and picked the 5% dry one, made from 100% thick-skinned small apples. Not strong in alcohol (wouldn't mind if it's stronger ;D) but definitely a refreshing cider for summer! And it was served in cute bowl like this *v*I also chose this famous Fish Soup for entrees. I have to say it's superb...gonna order this every time during my future visits! The soup was served with bread crumbs and cheese, so as a cheese lover I basically sprinkled all the cheese Don't forget to sprinkle the cheese when the soup is hot to have it in a half-melted form. That would be the best to blend the cheese in with the soup to give it the best taste (; Knowing that I'd be munching on the galettes and crepes later so I need some salad to balance my diet Salade Landaise (pan fried duck liver, duck gizzards and duck confit, pine nuts, tomatoes, asparagus)I myself don't really like duck liver in general but it didn't taste too greasy as it comes in a salad dish. I couldn't stop eating the duck confit and asparagus though lol so I still enjoyed this. Not a very appetizing twist like other typical salads, but this would be a must-have for foodies who is fond of duck (;And the galettes were served no later~La Bigouden (Ham, emmental cheese, sunny egg)Picked mushrooms from the choice of veggies which spinach, tomato, or onion were also offered.Breaking the sunny egg gives me a heartache each time (...I'm not joking) but anyway I dipped each slice of galette into it so it's okay haha I've always like anything that comes with ham and mushrooms, but gotta admit that I prefer this other galette I tried La Marin (scallops, mixed mushroom, diced bacon with creamy white wine sauce)This was like a galette version of carbonara to me! My favorite dish of the night I can't go without dessert for dinner when I dine out, and hearing from my friends how good the crepes are in LA Creperie I had to try one :)La Sextant (caramelized apples, salted butter caramel, vanilla ice cream)Desserts can't go wrong with caramel, and this crepe - with salted butter caramel all over it and the caramelized apples, it was no doubt a double-up delight *v* Anyway this was a great dinner experienceThanks for having me once again and I'll come back for sure~…Read More

Munching the oysters!
The Luxe Seafood Bar & Resto
2015-05-15
Heard about The Luxe for its 90mins buffet charging $208 only (+10%)for dinner, and planned to go shopping in K11 anyway so I made a reservation the night before :)Hong Kong weather is burning and we neeeeeded some cocktails to cool us down,so we ordered 2 The Luxe ($58) to kick start the dinner! They even have this offer for 15% off for 1 drink and 25% for two so why not?! Blended with vodka and some juice (raspberry?Blame my goldfish memory...) and kind of tasted like fruit punch to me. It was too sweet though Came here mainly for oysters and I had half a dozen in total lol They were unexpectedly fresh and big, $208 is totally a good deal for a buffet with oysters! Got a few photos for the night only as the food didn't look so appealing...Cold and hot dishes were not particularly delicious, but I'd say they're good enough Definitely a great deal for dinner and for oyster lovers (but of course you can't expect topnotch quality...reality check)…Read More
