06/10/18So this is my third time at this restaurant and the pastas and desserts do not disappoint but the reason why I came here this day was on Open Rice it said the restaurant had a really good promotion which was 21:00-21:30 the meal would be 75% off and that's a super good deal. So when the waitress gave me the menu she said that you came here at 21:00 and you get 25% off, I was very very confused and showed her the printscreen of the 75% off deal that I was expecting. It seems that Open Rice had got the information mixed up but anyways I still had to eat. The only things that were 25% off were the steaks, pork chop and roast chicken. I was a little disappointed since I wasn't feel steak but anyways I had chosen a pasta dish and the sirloin steak.The sirloin steak arrived and it looked ok, a little small. The sirloin was ask to be cooked medium and the first bite was ok BUT the other bites were so good. I think the whole cut was bad there was too much muscle fibers that were super chewy and it felt it was overcooked, it was that tough but it wasn't overcooked. Normally the area around the fat at the top of the sirloin is chewy but this steak wasn't like that. I have eatten many sirloins and this was the one of the worst. I do not recommend to have a sirloin steak at this restaurant even with the 25% off it's not really worth it. The black truffle mash was very good worth the 40hkd. The pasta was well cooked and the desserts are always very good. Only come here for the dessert to be safe. They changed the menu since the last time I came and the chocolate banana was really good, sight like a banana but tasted like those Japanese banana cakes which were very delightful. Overall this experience I would give 7 out of 10 but without the sirloin then 8 out of 10. I might come here again but I feel the portions were a little small and the meal isn't cheap I think I would go to the Cheesecake Factory again. …Read More

10/11/18So I finally got to come and try this place which had been opened for awhile. I arrived at the restaurant and asked for a table for 2 and the reception said there is a 150 minutes waiting time. I was shocked at the waiting time but it was fine since I was going to go shopping after the meal so I decided to switch things around went shopping for around 2 hours or so then came back to the reception and then I got my buzzer. I sat down for maybe 5 minutes or less then was taken to my table. I ordered drinks first then ordered the food. Now since it's 'The Cheese Cake Factory' there's hype and high expectations to the brand. I first got the drinks and they were good like boozy good and refreshing, 'flying gorilla' and 'typhoon blast'. The the deep fried mac and cheese came they were really good and the tomato sauce that can served with it just balanced out the creamy richness of the cheese and the crunchy outer bread crumb layer made me miss UK food even more just the coating was perfect. Next came the rest of the food at once, buffalo wings, pasta and the California guacamole salad. Lets start off and say the guacamole is made almost the same way I make it and it was good you could tell it was made with fresh avocados. The pasta was really good too but the let down of the whole meal was the so hyped buffalo wings. They weren't really like wow amazing get me another bowl it was just small chicken wings with a special coating that had been absorbed into the crust of the wings. It was salty and sour but the blue cheese dip was really good.For the finale I had to try the original cheese cake. It was served on a cold plate so I wonder if each slice was already prepared on a plate and placed into the fridge. The cheese cake it self is good not too sweet, not too heavy because of the sour cream on top which cuts through the richness of the cheese cake but the base wasn't as good as I would like it to be. It was too sweet and a little too soggy. The fresh cream served with the cheese cake was nice. Overall I would come again even though the items on the menu are over priced but the food and service was good. I would give the overall experience a 8.5 out of 10.…Read More

22/06So travelled to Sha Tin Wai just to try this restaurant and I must say at first I thought it might be just like the other Thai restaurants that I have been to in Hong Kong. When I went in the waitress asked how many people and if I wanted hot or cold water. From this brief encounter I could tell that they normally speak Thai and not Cantonese. The food was very quick and was very fresh and fragrant. The smell of the coconut and lemongrass was really strong and it was amazing. The iced longan tea was really nice. 04/04/17So I found this place on OpenRice because my friend wanted to have green tea icecream. We travelled very far to come and try this place and from the name I would expect their desserts (puddings) to be the main attraction to this place but I found from the three desserts that we selected weren't very good, in fact they didn't have green tea ice cream and I wanted the Trio desserts and that wasn't available. I also wanted coffee to which they didn't have any as well.The service was atrocious. For a very small place it isn't big, with only 2 kitchen staff and 2 waiters and while 1 waiter is busy the other waiter should step in and help but instead he was gossiping. There must be some problem with their sound system because the volume keeps on fluctuating and while it's on low mode you can hear a small kitten meowing was a major annoyance.There is a minimum spending charge per person which is 60hkd or a drink. This I can understand but children also have to oblige to this rule, given a child cannot finish 1 whole dish. The staff at this establishment need to relearn the hospitality mannerism of courtesy of customers since they are the people who are helping you as a business to stay running. The staff need to wear uniform of some sort, especially the kitchen staff because the staff member that was preparing our food was sweaty and he didn't wear a hair net nor an a apron. Towards when your time at the establishment has ended we were presented with the check but we hadn't finished our drinks. There was no other people waiting outside the establishment for seats, so we took our time. 1 minute later, the same waiter that presented us with the bill hurried me to pay. Another issue was that a group outside was about to come in but they had a dog and the waiter stated only if the dog is quiet it may come in. Fine dinning in an empty resturant?

10/02So I made a booking while I was on the MTR and then found this place on Openrice and saw from reviews it was quite good so I wanted to give it a try. The online booking on Openrice was very helpful and easy. I booked a table for 2 for 6:45 which was about 2 hours later. I arrived to the place and there was 1 waiter and 1 waitress. The service was ok and the menu was very limited since a lot of the dishes that I wanted to try were sold out but the restaurant just opened so maybe they didn't have enough stock. They didn't give me a drink menu only the set dinner menu. The quantity to price is a bit over priced but the flavours were nice. The starter that I had was ok the duck liver with toast and I had the Aungus beef steak. The desserts was just soso. The smoked salmon was very good indeed but the sea bass was over cooked. Overall the whole dinning experience with price wasn't really worth it. I can understand that the place has high rent but I think the whole experience wasn't worth the price. …Read More

26/01 So we had a huge table of 16 so a table of 11 and a small table of 5. The restaurant`s menu that I saw was in Chinese so I couldn't help with the ordering of food. They only had 1 dessert which was sticky rice with mango which was actually really good. The food was very fresh and the Tom Yum soup was really good everyone liked it. Their curry was also good very fragrant with coconut and slightly on the sweet side. But what I wasn't happy with was when we were paying the cashier made some problems and I asked if this was both table's bill she said yes so I paid because all out dishes was put on the same bill had to double check. Halfway on going back home we get a phone call saying we didn't pay the bill.... so we ask what do you mean? The smaller table's bill wasn't paid. 22/10So it's been a long time since I came back to this restaurant and I was actually afraid of coming back the reason was because it's overly priced and the seating arrangement isn't worth the amount that you pay. After about 4 years I have came back and I will review it. The seating and price is still the same and overly priced for what you order but they actually have a lot more dishes on the menu now so that's what I tried. The restaurant does not sell bowls of plain boiled rice instead you have to buy their `fried rice` dishes which was basicly plain boiled rice with a few pieces of meat in. I was very disappointed in their `fried rice`. The only thing that I really liked was the stir fry green beans everything else was just standard and over priced.Overall unless they have really really special dishes I won't come again I would rather spend the same amount of money somewhere else where it feels more comfortable. …Read More

29/10 Arrived at the restaurant and waited outside for about 20mins or so then got a table for 2. The seating is the typical Hong Kong style where space is very limited. Service was very fast not long after ordering our food like about 10mins or so it started to all come out at once I was a little afraid that the table we were on wasn't going to fit all the dishes but it did. So with speed and value for money the food was actually really good like the starters salad wasn't very fresh and there was a bug running inbetween the leaves but the cheese salad was ok and it was brown like the side salad. 30/10 This restaurant does not take bookings which was good as for Friday evening trying to find a place to eat at 7pm was hard. I didn't have to wait long till I got a table. The restaurant itself is quite small and seating was a little crammed but afterall it's about the food and not the seating but seating and environment is very important. The food can served pretty quick. Tried most of the recommend dishes and I have to say it was really good. The burger with lemon in the mayonnaise was a really good surprise and the chicken wings were crispy on the outside but succulent inside. A MUST TRY is their Hot Cakes made to order and it was super soft and wasn't very dense was really good. 10/09So I made reservation in the afternoon for around 8pm for that evening. They took my booking and they only hold the reservation for 10 minutes which was more than enough for me. I personally feel that this restaurant is more like a romantic setting with the restaurant being dark and each table having it's own candle light making it a very candle lit experience. Tge environment was nice very stylish and modern but the air conditioning was on a little too high, maybe I was sitting in a area where the AC was blowing strong. A little too cold for my liking.
