Wanted to try out this restaurant for sometimes as it boasts creative fusion cooking. Prices are above average, so I went on a special occasion – Valentine’s Day. The night started with a long wait for a pre-booked table due to the end-to-end booking to maximize turnover:(. We requested a booth but was given a table at the thoroughfare bottleneck. I had mussels dropped on me, but the waitress was too frazzle to notice. The speaker was blaring music directly above our heads. Another couple on bar tables overlooked us right above my head. They noted to move us, and Brian (the friendly head waiter) topped up our glasses all evening to keep us happy. We were eventually moved an hour later after our many repeated requests. The very loud and tightly packed atmosphere just didn’t fit a romantic evening, not to mention the supposedly high culinary experience. The food was cold or lukewarm at best. Fried dishes had lost their crispiness. Taste and freshness of the seafood are fine but not matching the price point. It is a crowded bar for tapas, certainly not worth $680 per person on the food alone. At the end, I ordered a latte but was served a black coffee. I gave up and asked for sugar and cream, which never came. Brian tried hard, but it was a disastrous front of house, and the food was just mediocre.…Read More

Quick and Inexpensive Tea Sets
TWINKLE ELEPHANT
2022-11-13
Tried a newly opened Thai Restaurant that replaced So Thai So Good in the same shop location. They have about 10 different tea sets that are under $60. The food was quick. They arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. We ordered a Tom Yam Gong Roast Pork Neck Vermicelli and A Massaman Curry Beef Brisket Rice. The taste and the portion are fair for the price. The decor is simple yet elegant and the spacing between tables not too close. There are aisles separating the groupings of tables giving access to serve them. The downside is that the staff are still inexperience and often squeezing in between the tables to take short cuts and knocking customers in their chairs without any apology. Water are not served until asked, but they are polite when requested. The manager is often rushing between tasks and unfortunately compromising the whole dining experience with a tense atmosphere. I hope the dining room service will improve after their training period is over. …Read More

ASAM CHICKEN RICE (Maritime Square 1)
2022-07-09
Wanted to have Hai Nam Chicken tonight and decided to try Asam Chicken Rice as it is close to the MTR despite it being twice as expensive than Cafe de Coral. At $92 for a 碟頭飯, it is considered expensive especially when Asam offers no discount for take away unlike all the other restaurants in the mall. After waiting for 20 minutes, I asked when it would be ready. Then they tell me that they are out of the special rice and I would have to wait for another 20 minutes while they make them. I couldn't believe I would have to wait for 40 minutes for take away and worst that they did not bother to tell the customer until I had to ask. Worst it was not ready after 40 minutes. I had to wait another 10. For nearly an hour to wait for take away, it was just ridiculous. It was a waste of time and the decision to pay more so I can quickly get my take away completely did not work at Asam. Don't bother for the take away here. Better to trust more reliable fast food chain for 碟頭飯.…Read More

Weekend and Holiday Sets Discontinued
Umegaoka Sushi No Midori Souhonten (Maritime Square 1)
2022-05-29
No more Set Lunches or All day Sets on Weekends or Holidays in their Tsing Yi location, so we left. Almost got a membership there, but has to be careful before investing as menus and prices can change without notice or recourse. Previous photos of menus are outdated. …Read More

Seaside restaurant with NO seaview
Café bord de Mer & Lounge
2022-01-01
Booked breakfast buffet to enjoy the Seaview at this hotel restaurant. But disappointingly, the shades were down. When asked why, the management said :1) to block the sun (but it was overcast) 2) to avoid hitting people sitting by the windows (Huh?)3) they only raise it at noon when breakfast is over. (Not for people to enjoy:()So there is no reason to come to this resort hotel for breakfast as the food and service are mediocre at best and the view is only for lunch and dinner guests. They raised the price for breakfast in November 2021 to $207 per person. It was crowded with staycation guests, so breakfast is mostly starchy food to fill the guests up quickly and cheaply. Management basically wasted the hotel natural asset in running their business with a mindset to excuse themselves for doing better for their guests. …Read More

Frustrated
The Point - Pizza & Pasta (青衣城)
2020-05-09
It was the night before Mother's Day and although there were several tables, the hostess kept us waiting for another 15 minutes Despite the fact that the table ahead of us didn't answer to her call. When my patience finally ran out, I inquired why she did not sit us down. She first said there was no table, which I quickly point to several. Then she said there were other guests ahead of us, which I also pointed out she had let them in already but she didn't cross out them off the list. In a third attempt she said the kitchen was too busy and we would have to wait for a long time to have our food anyway. I was surprised of her attitude and she might as well close up as she just implied that The Point can't handle the business even when there are a number of empty tables. I finally said I wouldn't mind waiting sitting down instead of standing up. Reluctantly, she sat us down after giving us a snappy reply. After sitting down, we ordered right away and the food came very quickly contrary to what she said. There was another disappointment :(when we ordered as the waiter was in a rush and we had to call him back twice after he ran off before we could finish ordering. We think the hostess and the waiter didn't get proper training. We felt like we were in a 茶餐廳. The food was 8/10, but the service was 2/10. I like the other branches of The Point. I hope this owner would spend a bit more to get proper waiting staff.…Read More

Going Out of Business
Kaylaism
2018-10-13
Everything is served on disposable wear despite the restaurant setting. Their explanation was that they are going out of business. That's odd that they would spend money on disposable wear if they are not making money. It really down graded the dining experience. Understandably the waiter's mood was not good so it explained the bad service. The food order was changed also. Spaghetti was used to substitute Fettuccine. We only found out when the food arrived. The first explanation was that Fettuccine is used only for dinner menu. After we checked the menu which said specifically Fettuccine, he then explained they ran out. Sometime it is not the taste that makes the food good or not. It is the combination of presentation, service and expectation, none of which was given any care in delivering. Perhaps that's the reason why this place is going out of business. Openrice should delete this restaurant off their list to take them out of their misery.…Read More

Unpredictable
Grove Cafe
2018-10-06
This is a self serve cafeteria. A cashier takes the order, customers are required to collect their food on tray. No announcement or notice will be given to collect the food so you need to stand by the kitchen counter and wait. After finishing, customers brought their trays back to the racks. No one clean the table. The foods are bland. Tried their ramen and ham & cheese croissant. The ramen tasted like instant noodle. The croissant was same as those you buy from 7-11. Their opening hours are unpredictable. The sign say open until 5:30pm but when we try to order at 4:40, they said they are closed. Guess that's what happened when the owner is not around. The cafe has wifi but not for customer's use as told by the staff. They don't seem to really care about their job or the success of the cafe. Too bad. It could have been a nice little hangout.…Read More

Overpriced and poor service
O S Plus (Park Central)
2016-06-22
Made a reservation to celebrate my wife 's birthday and hoped that we would have an enjoyable night out in the middle of the week but was instead disappointed with a bad start from the moment we were seated. The restaurant was not full with many tables still empty. We asked for booth seating but was directed to a 3 person table in the middle of the room. As I had a large bouquet of flowers it was not a sensible table to be seated. I repeated my request only to be turned down again after the waitress checked with her manager. It was clear management had directed their staff to maximize earnings and not leave any empty seat despite we had bags and a large bouquet. There is a long standing special of $10/oyster. Other than the Oysters, the price level of the rest of the food is relatively high compared to restaurants of the same class. Lunch menu is a different price scale, and there doesn't seem to be much praise from reading other reviews. For two adult with 1 child we paid $1100 for dinner. Besides not getting value for your money, it is simply not a good dining experience. When the bottom line is the top most priority for a restaurant and not services, it can definitely be felt. The German pork knuckle is crispy but very fatty. The pizza was small and not very tasty. The baked Oysters had different toppings and we ordered garlic and mushroom but neither added any flavour to the oysters. The only recommendation is the risotto with truffle and mushroom. Water has a strong tap water taste and house wine was $68/glass.Once the renovation of TKO Centre mall is finished with more restaurants to choose, l would be looking forward to better service and food. …Read More
