One of a kind
HI TEA (Lai Kok Shopping Centre)
2025-03-15
My wife’s mom lives in the apartment next to Hi Tea. We visit her every Saturday and get lunch. We tried the new location of Hi Tea because it is now right next to moms apartment. We ordered a French toast, ham and cheese sandwich, and my favorite as an American the cheese covered French fries. The staff and management were so friendly from the start and the restaurant was very clean and bright. Our food was for take out. We didn’t check the complete order, we just took it when it was handed to us. We got home to mom’s apartment and found the cheese fries missing. Before we could call, they called us and even delivered them to us apologetically. The whole food order was very delicious and fresh, even the cheese fries(I recommend them with enthusiasm). We will tell all our friends and family to visit and try the new location of Hi Tea. The food and staff are one of a kind(very unique).…Read More

TamJai SamGor (Sai Yeung Choi Street South)

This was my first experience with the franchised chain Chinese Noodle restaurant. I ordered the Cross Bridge Mixian for two(my wife ate with me). The base I went for was the sour and spicy. The waitress didn’t ask our heat level, but gave us the level 3 (1/3 mild). The flavor was good, but id prefer spicier next time. It was loaded with all the toppings listed and the noodles were cooked perfect. I would definitely order again. It came with what in America we would call Bread and Butter Pickling flavor of banana peppers. Really delicious. Ordered 3 sides; the cinnamon and caramel bread, spicy black fungus and chicken. All three were fresh and had perfect seasoning. My only complaint would be the service. The staff seemed all over the place and a little unfocused. Two people who sat after us had orders taken before us even though we had signaled we were ready. …Read More

Where have you been
La Vista
2024-12-26
Finding Mexican food that’s good and at least close to authentic in Hong Kong is hard to do. When you do find a place, the prices are crazy expensive. But….We found La Vista on Christmas Day and had our Christmas Dinner there. My wife is a local and I am from America, and i miss cheap amazing authentic Mexican food! The prices aren’t bad for Hong Kong compared to the few other places I’ve found, and by far the food at La Vista is very very close to perfect authentic Mexican. It’s served with an updated plating and is beautiful. We indulged in the Al Pastor tacos, with were crazy good, the only nit pick I can think of about them was the corn shell, a yummy shell, but with a taco two should be used as not to get soggy as fast or break as easy. We also had the Chicken Fajitas, and the chicken was perfect! Not dry, but juicy and well seasoned with Mexican spices that were well balanced. Again the only bit pick I could find with this dish was the flour tortilla shells, they were fresh and yummy but not enough of them to finish the awsome portion size of the Chicken Fajitas😝 the last dish we tried was the Al Pastor Nachos. These had cojita cheese as well as nacho with whole pieces of cilantro. The Al Pastor(Pork) was so tender and the amount of meat was surprising! There was a chili powder sprinkled on the nachos and pickled jalapeños to help add a little spicy kick. Sour cream, salsa, and guacamole were served on the side to help accent the already loaded and flavorful nachos. As for service….they were so kind and friendly, also well attentive. Let’s be Honest, as someone used to the service in America, this type of service is hard to find. My wife who usually isn’t messy at all was this night, normally I am the messy one. The staff noticed our table and cleaned it up a bit without interrupting our eating and this meant a lot. Probably my longest review because the over all experience from food to cost, and service was something fantastic. I highly recommend. …Read More

Hai Phong Pho Vietnamese Food

My wife and I are just temporarily in Jordan for a few weeks while our apt in Mong Kok is being fixed. We each ordered a Pho. My wife ordered the Lemon Grass Pork Chop. I ordered the raw beef, but got the beef brisket. The Lemon Grass Pork Chop was cooked perfect and tasted amazing. My wife’s noodles were delicious and the broth was flavorful(although not the best broth I’ve had, but a good one)My Beef Brisket was chewy and extremely fatty, more so the fat wasn’t rendered so it was not tasty. My noodles and broth were both delicious. The interior was what we would call in America, “a whole in the wall”, but as we Americans know, these places can be real hidden gems. This place had really friendly service, was clean, and the food wasn’t 5 stars, but still really delicious. I also love how this is a local owned and family run restaurant. …Read More

The Decor is what we call in America, hole in the wall. Which isn’t bad, just means old and small for the most part. The food however like most mom and pop places or hole in the walls, was amazing and had a sense of home cooking. The food truly was comfort food and made with such care and depth of flavors that even the usually most generic item(in Hong Kong at least) Garlic Bread was delicious and left me quit the whole dinner because I was to busy eating to talk. The service was standard for Hong Kong, but friendly enough. The Thai Tea was even made fresh. I grew up with Laotian in my family and enjoyed homemade Lao and Thai food growing up. This brought me back to those days. I highly recommend the visit.A little pricy compared to some Thai places, but more than worth it with the portion size and quality of food. …Read More

PACIFIC COFFEE (New Town Mall)
2024-03-27
It’s been since before Covid that I was able to be in Hong Kong and enjoy a Pacific Coffee. Now that I’m back they seem fewer and far in between. I found one near me and went for a delicious brew. To my surprise there is an Easter Holiday special of buy one get one free on certain brew flavors. My wife and I both got the cafe mocha. The coffee was as delicious as I remembered and was a good balance of sweet chocolate and bitter coffee. This location has seating and cool air conditioning. From the lobby, it was a great time people watching and enjoying a comforting and delicious cafe mocha. …Read More

The service here was amazing. We started with a half container of mussels in white wine sauce for an appetizer. It was loaded with mussels and the sauce was perfect. My daughter ordered a Porter House steak, that had to be about 2 pounds. The server even had it cut by the chiefs for her. She ordered medium and the cook was exact. She paired it with Satan Beer, which had its own glass for the pour. I had the burger with fried egg and fries. The burger was cooked medium well. It was a mix of minced waygu and beef. It was delicious and what I appreciated was the bun holding up and not tearing or turning soggy half way through eating. …Read More

Saturday Dim Sum(Yum Cha)
VERY GOOD JOYFUL BANQUET
2024-03-23
I’m new to Hong Kong from America(State of Michigan) and I am familiar with Dim Sum. Most Saturday mornings I escort my mother in law to her Doctor appointments. When we are at the Doctor near this restaurant we attend. The food is always consistent (Dim Sum wise) but I’ve never tried their other meal sets or dishes besides a few of the soups. They have a wide variety of traditional Dim Sum dishes, one menu is in English/Cantonese as well. The other menus offer deals on some of the same items, but in Chinese only, so if you have a translation app., that works and you can save a few more dollars. The service is hit or miss, they are all friendly, but seemed constantly short staffed, so sometimes delays in putting in food order. The two types of hot tea that I have tasted are, the traditional chinese tea and a jasmine tea as well. Both are good, but I prefer their traditional tea. I love spicy, but their sour/spicy soups are bland in flavor with just spicy heat. I prefer a balance, something spicy yet tasty enough to keep me wanting to go back for the burn. All in all, a clean, and consistent Dim Sum restaurant that keeps me coming back. …Read More

Wife’s treat
HONBA IZAKAYA
2024-03-11
I recently moved to Hong Kong to marry my long time fiancé. My daughter came to visit for the event from America. My daughter has never been to a restaurant where you grill your own food. So, my new wife treated us. The restaurant was clean and staff were very friendly and explained everything we might need to know. They changed the grill plate out regularly for us and the food was absolutely amazing! The wide range of cuts for the different meats, being chicken, pork, beef, and sea food was expansive. Then there were cooked sides, vegetables, sauces and unlimited drinks as well. There are 4 levels to choose from for the all you can eat, each person at table must order same level, this is understandable. We were never rushed to finish after our time was up, we couldn’t order more, but we could finish what we had at our pace. …Read More

My daughter and mine first time
9 3/4 cafe
2024-03-11
My daughter and I are from Michigan in America. Visiting Hong Kong has been great, the little cafe 9 3/4 Harry Potter themed was absolutely adorable. The staff was friendly and spoke English which helped as our Cantonese is limited. You can try on Robes from your favorite House and the Sorting Hat, Wand and glasses. They welcome photos being taken as well. The decor was a fun mix of Harry Potter collectables and decorations ranging in wide variety. We each tried a Butter Beer, it’s non alcoholic and very delicious, we also each tried a home made soda, mine was strawberry and hers was mango. Very refreshing and light. For food we just tried a few appetizers. The crispy chicken wings, onion rings, and the potato fried prawns. Everything was fresh made and delicious. …Read More

First time having Hot Pot and First CHRISTMAS in Hong Kong. I am From Michigan in America and this is my review of first Hot Pot experience. Desert was a mini ice cream and that’s unlimited also. For price add another $10 HKD for Holiday, otherwise $248 HKD per person unlimited. My Family and I were there for 3 hours and we were not rushed out or made to feel we needed to cut dinner short. …Read More
