He was so kind and offered me a free little slice of Banana Cake at the end so that I don't have to choose, great!The slice of carrot cake taste as great as before, it was soft, dense and moist, with a hint of cinnamon flavour and well balanced amount of raisins and carrot! Just one draw back was that the slice was much thinner than it was yesterday. It was thick like a slice of Starbuxks loaf cake yesterday but it was only ~3/5 as thick today, sad... perhaps he thought I'll be too full to have both cakes... and yes, I will, so it's great that I still have a free little Banana Cake! The banana cake was also soft, dense and moist in texture, which I liked! And there was also walnut pieces inside, but the flavour is a bit plain compared to the carrot cake and there was only a hint of banana flavour. But still it's a yummy cake if you are in favour of banana cake. 是一間小小的cafe, 室內有十多個坐位吧。全店以粉藍色作主題，加上木製的枱椅，令人有入到歐陸小店的感覺~ 室外另有幾張小枱，見到很多街坊帶埋寵物幫襯呢。朋友點了 all day breakfast (~$80)有 fig & nut rye toast, eggs of your choice, fried mushroom & cherry tomato, sausage & ham 睇落已覺好豐富！朋友話味道唔錯~因為想試埋佢啲cake, 所以我只點了 toast with butter & jam ($35)單點的話麵包會是大大的一片！熱烘烘的 rye toast 有無花果 & nuts 在內，再加上果醬，好好食想叫多一份呢~ 不過想著要食cake，都係忍一忍啦。店內係冇蛋糕櫃的，而cake亦只有兩三款（我去的時間係星期日中午），最後聽店主推介點左Green Tea Truffle cake (大概，唔太記得名，$35）見佢係響冰隔拎出黎，仲用類似莎莉蛋糕的紙盒一盒6件咁的包裝已心覺不妙…… 跟手店主話未食得住，解凍一陣先拎比你……心裡一沉……果然拎來時仍然係一舊冰似的……綠茶cream好沙沙咁，唔滑，亦只有人工香精的綠茶味，白色的cream硬到叉唔落所以試唔到味……最底的sponge cake好似放係雪櫃太耐已乾曬水變成粉狀…… 呢個係我咁大個人食過最難食的cake :( 中伏，只食左一啖已食唔到落去……Anyway講番cafe的主題，就係咖啡~咖啡係單點的，我地都叫左mocha ~$45 each) 拉花好靚差啲唔捨得飲。味道就一般，唔知點解冇咩朱古力味亦不大有咖啡味，但又係好杰唔會水汪汪的，比ok佢（個拉花）啦。整體黎講如你唔好甜食，又想休閒地消磨時間，呢間cafe是不錯的。但對於我呢個甜魔黎講，我會推介Mano Cafe & Corner Kitchen Cafe, 佢地啲cakes真係好，好，好得！！咖啡都好好飲（當然講緊唔係精品咖啡而言）希望我家附近呢間小小cafe可以改善下啦，需知甜品對一間cafe亦係好重要的呢！…Read More

The first time I went to Corner Kitchen Café with my friend was on a Saturday morning, it was before their Christmas closing and the shop was quite empty as it’s just opened. The thing in the cafe that immediately caught my attention was the cake display window next to the cashier, with so many different cakes inside! They all looks so attractive I wanna try them all!Finally I made up my mind to go for a Pumpkin Cheese Cake ($60) and a Chocolate Cream Pie ($60), also a hot large Caramel Latte ($48) (actually I’ve wanted an iced one as the café was quite hot at the time but my friend placed a wrong order >_<). Nevertheless the Caramel Latte was really nice, with good balance of sweetness, caramel favour and not excessive milk (that I dislike as I’d normally opt for a piccolo latte instead of a regular latte). I’d think it’s one of the best Caramel Latte I have ever had, much better than the ones you can get in those chain store cafes.My friend ordered an Omelette with added fries ($75+$10) (yes you can order an omelette skipping the fries) and a hot Mocha ($38), she’s not a person who drink coffee daily and she said the mocha was good! Pricewise I’d suggest a large size coffee (of any kind) instead of a small one at Corner Kitchen Café as it’s only a $10 difference but the size differs a lot, I’d say almost a double.For my friend’s Omelette, she simply loved it and she said the taste was nice. I’ve tried a mouth of it, it was filled with bacon, cheese, mushrooms, onion and spring onion. The egg was cooked nicely but as I didn’t quite enjoy the favour of the spring onions in the omelette, I didn’t like it as much as my friend did. The fries were the thick type as you can see from the photo, they were piping hot when arrived, I think everybody would agree that piping hot and thick crispy fries are the best!For the Pumpkin Cheese Cake, it was simply splendid! Normally I wouldn’t go for a cheese cake if I’ve other choices as I don’t like the cream cheese, sour cream / yogurt cream taste, but as the Pumpkin Cheese Cake looked yummy I wanted to give it a try and it was delicious! You can see that the cake was divided in two layers. The bottom layer of brownish colour was the pumpkin cream paste , amazingly it didn’t have the sour cream / yogurt cream taste that I dislike, so it was good! The favour of this layer was predominately sweetness of the pumpkin and a bit cream cheese favour, maybe with some caramel favour also? I’m not sure. The upper later was of ivory colour, it had no sour cream / yogurt cream taste to it, it was on the whole sweet and with some coffee/cacao favour? Again I’m not sure. What I know was that it was so good that my friend and I fought to have a bigger share of the cake XDThe second cake of the day was the Chocolate Cream Pie, there was actually no cake elements in it (I misunderstood it as a Chocolate Cream Cake when I checked with the staff there, so I was expecting some cake layers inside). The texture of it was like very dense dark chocolate pudding/cream on a salted chocolate buttery crust. It was with heavy dark chocolate favour without being too sweet nor too plainly chocolate taste (I think they are using high quality chocolate for their cakes with well balance of bitterness, sourness and sweetness of the chocolate), it taste like the chocolate cream layers of the Starbucks Chocolate Marquise but the chocolate cream of this pie was smoother and moister. I liked it but my friend said it was too heavy and she can just finished 1/4 of it and I finished the rest of the cake, happy!The experience here was so good we arranged another visit immediately on Christmas Eve as it was a dayoff for me, but unfortunately we found that it was closed till January when arrived >_<The third visit was after the New Year on the Saturday it was reopened after its long holiday! We arrived at lunch hour only to find that it was full >_< As I was so hungry we changed to have lunch at another café nearby… then came back for afternoon tea!This time we ordered the famous Salted Caramel Cake ($55) and a Banana Cake ($55), also a hot large Caramel Latte with skim milk ($50) (Oh just found out that the price has gone up after their holiday when typing this review, it was $48 beforehand! I’m sure of it coz I’m looking at the receipts when writing the review…) and an Iced Lemon Tea ($35).The Caramel Latte was not as good as last time I had it, not sure because this time it was made by another barista (last time was a handsome guy with blonde hair and this time a barista with dark hair) or because this time I had it with skim milk? It was barely acceptable with not enough caramel favour and the coffee taste a bit burnt (over-extracted the shot(s)??) The lemon tea was okay according to my friend.For the Salted Caramel Cake, we were having high expectation to it coz ppl said it was good in all food reviews. And it was good too! A first bit to the salted caramel cream I have a feeling that the taste was so familiar to me, what was it?? Then I found that it taste exact like the Almond Roca candy (樂家杏仁糖) that we used to eat especially during Chinese New Year! I asked my friend and it immediately came to her sense too! The cake was the sponge type of cake with only the tiniest airholes and was moist like a Taiwan honey cake, it taste good!After tucking in the Salted Caramel Cake, we had the Banana Cake. It actually taste like a Carrot Cake with the carrot replaced by banana and also banana puree in between the two layers of cake. As I like the taste of both carrot cake and banana, I like it too! But as we only had it after the Salted Caramel Cake and the taste of the Salted Caramel Cake was too special we both found the Banana Cake a bit plain… we should have eaten the Banana Cake first and then the Salted Caramel Cake for a better tasting of the Banana Cake >_<Anyway I found the sweet items in this café really enjoyable and I want to come back to try more!!
