Business lunch set
Liu Yuan Pavilion
2019-04-18
This is a popular place for business lunch for its cozy environment but today was only a causal lunch with co-workers.There were four of us and we ordered 2 two-people set (also available was five-people set). Apart from soup, rice and sweet soup, we could choose four appetiser dishes and four main courses and share the food. The appetisers we chose were: drunken chicken, 雞絲粉皮,海蜇and馬蘭頭.The main dishes we chose were: 獅子頭,上湯津白,糖醋魚塊and賽磅蟹.All dishes are of authentic flavour in this traditional Shanghaiese restaurant. Highly recommended! …Read More

魚腐墨丸淸湯米線
Tamjai Yunnan Mixian (Kam Wah Building)
2019-04-18
Got a dental appointment at the evening and found a place for quick dinner - tam jai. It was not crowded at around 6:45pm.Ordered the 魚腐墨丸清湯米線($38). There is an Easter promotion where you could add $5 for a drink, or get free drink for ordering 三餸.Portion is generous and standard food quality. Don’t know why I always like 三哥 more though they are in fact under the same group …Read More

FEAST (Food By EAST)
2019-04-16
Feast @ East has always been one of my favourite restaurants for brunch. This time I made a reservation through a restaurant-booking website and enjoyed a 25% off discount (original price $325; after discount $278 (s.c. included)). But I also overheard the waiter telling the customers next table that there was 20% off discount if paid by credit card of two major banks in HK.The appetizer section was outstanding. There was crayfish, mussels and shrimps in the seafood section and all of them are fresh. A few selections of hams, smoked salmon, tuna carpaccio are available. Liked tuna carpaccio the most although it is a little bit too spicy. There was also a wide selection of salads. Eggs benedict was also available but I didn’t try as I needed to reserve space for the main course. For the main course, there were 5 choices – lamb, chicken, beef, fish and all day breakfast. I ordered lamb which is tender and soft. Dessert section included some cupcakes, tiramisu, ice cream etc. Not particularly impressive. Tea / coffee was also included. A pleasant dining experience and will definitely come back. The only complaint - there was only nappy changing station at the female toilet. Is that sexual discrimination?…Read More

魚旦魚片河
On Lee Noodle
2019-04-16
Heard about On Lee for a long time but had no chance to go to Shau Kei Wan. Recently got an opportunity to go there because of work.Colleagues warned that there might be a long queue but it turned out there was no queue at all (on a weekday)! Quickly took a look of the menu and found that there was no lunch set. So I simply ordered a bowl of 魚旦魚片河 ($34). The fish balls are 彈牙 and 有魚味. Overall speaking I think the dish is above average standard. Will try again if I happen to go to Shau Kei Wan again!…Read More

Lunch Buffet
The Farmhouse 咖啡廳
2019-04-11
The lunch buffet was recommended by a friend for its very reasonable price ($198 per person, service charge included, on a weekday). Special discount was available for the elderly so there were quite a lot of old ladies on the day of my visit. Enjoyed a nice seaview although the restaurant was only located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Here comes my comment on food (the list of food is only examples, not exhaustive): - drinks: unlimited supply of soft drinks, tea and coffee- appetiser: 3 choices of sashimi including salmon, tuna and 希靈魚, tried the first two which are fresh / 2-3 kinds of ham / 5-6 pre-mixed salads- Hot food: fried rice / fried noodles / grilled potatoes / fried vegetables / deep fried salmon which is the best amongst the hot food - Food stalls: noodles of average quality except 豬紅 the texture of which is strange / steak of below average quality / Hong Kong style sandwiches (午餐肉炒蛋 or 五香肉丁炒蛋三文治) - but the staff is rigid because they cannot just give me the scrambled eggs and insist to serve the bread- Dessert: limited selection of cakes or dessert / dairy farm ice creamTo conclude, don’t expect too much but it still a good option if you want to “過下buffet癮”.…Read More

MINI Heytea
HEYTEA (Times Square)
2019-04-11
Ordered through the Heytea App before arriving so did not need to wait for too long to collect the drinks. Ordered MINI Heytea which included two small bottles of drinks - 黑糖波波 and 金玉 (Oolong tea). Was not allowed to choose the level of sweetness for this MINI Heytea so the drinks turned out to be too sweet for me. But the textual of the 波波s was great - very 彈牙.The bottles are beautifully designed so I have saved them for decoration. …Read More

Morty's Delicatessen
2019-04-11
Arrived at around 1pm on a weekday. Nearly full house except the bar table closest to the entrance (quite hot to sit there on this summer day). There is an offer of buy one (Reuben sandwich) get one free today but only available after 4pm so we could not enjoy. I ordered a breakfast bagel ($98) (with bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce) with fries (or green salad if healthy option is preferred). Add $20 for the iced tea. Only a few small pieces of bacon which may not be enough for some people. The scrambled eggs were impressive - thick and strong black pepper flavour. Liked the warmly served bagel too. The portion of fries was generous. My friend ordered California ($118) with chicken, avocado and spicy mayo). It had much larger portion of meat.…Read More

Daily Value Set 天天超值選
Café de Coral (Citic Tower)
2019-04-11
There are two branches of cafe de coral in admiralty, one in admiralty centre and the other at citic. The branch in citic has fewer people and one can occupy the whole table even during morning rush hour! And because of a smaller number of customers, customer service is also much better. Staff walk around and ask customers if they need water, tissue paper and toothpick.Talking about food, I chose the Daily Value Set ($25), which included ham macaroni, turnip cake, sausage and boiled egg. Quality is standard - won’t surprise or disappoint you. A good thing of this set is that you can choose another three kinds of either congee / noodles (豉油王炒麵/牛奶麥皮/雪菜肉絲米)so I seldom get bored with this set. The last thing to note is this branch does not serve toast but only 牛油餐包. If one prefers the former, he should go to the admiralty centre branch instead! …Read More
