餃子屋
2025-09-21
This place was recommended to us by a friend who said, he could eat dumplings there every day. We checked that out. A long queue built up and the restaurants has only a few seats. The waiting time was around 20 minutes. We ordered dumplings and the „traditional“ fish broth soup with noodles. The potions were really big so we had to ask for a doggy bag for take away. The favorite was the fish broth soup. The broth was strong and tasty. We ordered fried dumplings which were huge and tasty, but (again) the favorite was the fish broth. The service is polite and funny. They really appreciate when foreigners try to talk or order in Cantonese. The price/value is unbelievable and definitely a place to go for dumplings if you are in Tsuen Wan.…Read More

Authentic Taiwanese food in Tsuen Wan
台蔡滷肉飯
2025-09-18
The restaurant is located close lo tak food court in MTR Tsuen Wan proximity. It earned a Michelin recommendation in 2024 and 2025. They have all the classic Taiwanese dishes. We ordered five dishes for take away. The waiting time in the evening was 20 minutes. The service was nice. The dishes are all very tasty besides the tempura, which was cold and a bit „hard“ in consistency. Nothing like Japanese tempura. Maybe it’s just not the doh to order for take away. Our favorite dishes were the braised pork rice with marinated egg. Here especially the pickles. The price was rather low for the quality of the dishes. The total amount was around 240$ for 5 dishes. We would certainly go back as it’s one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in Tsuen wan. However we would dine in and not take away.…Read More

Overrated Japanese matcha bubble tea
Tomomi Gogo
2025-08-26
Tomomi Gogo is a bit special at Lo Tak Court because they open from afternoon until midnight and have long queues all the time. We They also sometimes just stop taking new orders. They always have a crowd around. We don’t know if they don’t have enough staff or if it’s a strategy to build up a queue. However it’s super annoying if you are already waiting for a while and they tell you that they will do one hour break. You come back after one hour and than a new crowd built up.Hong Kongers love everything Japanese so we had to try it out anyway. We queued for a second time around for 15 minutes and than waited another 15 for getting our order. Also it’s not possible to ask for less ice or less sugar like other tea bubble places. That’s why only 1 star for service. We ordered cheese foam kyoto matcha coconut milk and Kyoto Uji Matcha Gelato Latte. We saw how the matcha brew was done by hand in a very exhaustive process, no syrup or other prepared instant things. Quite impressive considering the rather lower price of 18-26 HK per drink with some of the drinks containing gelato. The base of all drinks is coconut milk. The drinks were very okay, but not worth the hype. The cream cheese on top was flat and not consistent at all. Too much ice.The gelato on the other hand was strong taste and bitter sweet. Just the way it should be.The decor looks nice as the storefront is wooden and has a modern look.…Read More

Dumpling restaurant at Lo Tak Court
餃子坊
2025-08-26
We wanted to go to another place at Lo Tak Food Court, but it was too busy. So went for Wonton and Dumplings.First which jumped in our face was the wrong English translation of the menu. For instance it’s written „coconut dumplings“ or „Yuen“ instead of Hong Kong dollar. We ordered wanton and different kind of fried dumplings. The wonton were small, but totally appropriate considering the amount and price. The dumplings and wonton were tasty. The dumplings were juicy. The soup was not so strong. The table was a bit sticky and would require a wash. The decor was a bit simple and lack of maintenance. On the other hand you could say the focus is on the food. The price/value is very good. The service was good and nice. It seems like it’s a family run place.…Read More

Taiwanese Bubble Tea in Tsuen Wan
CHA FAN
2025-08-26
Cha Fan is a Taiwanese bubble tea chain with an assortment of Taiwanese dishes. We went to the Tsuen wan brand as their menu/ad jumped in our face.We jumped on this season hype about pistachio and ordered Amber oolong tea with pistachio cream cheese on top & Jasmine green tea with pistachio cream cheese on top. The waiting time was around 10 minutes. The place was not busy around lunch time on a weekday. The pistachio cream cheese was quite special as you usually only find „normal“ cream cheese. The jasmine green tea taste was a strong brew. We would love to try out the other food they have like for instance the Taiwanese sausages or tofu. …Read More

Japan in Tsuen Wan
Out of the Blue
2025-08-26
Out of the blue is a Japanese restaurant in Tsuen Wan. It accommodates less than 20 guests and is quite busy in the afternoon. We came for lunch. You order with a QR code on your mobile phone. Unfortunately the menu is not fully translated into English. Make sure you are accompanied by a local hong konger. Outside it says on a blackboard to come inside for water if it’s too hotThe restaurant has Lunch set menus with a hot dish, salad and drink. The price is fixed, but depends on how many salads and hot dishes you order. You need to pay a few HK more for certain dishes, mostly with seafood.Bring some time with you as the waiting time is rather long. However the waiting is totally wort it. The dishes were well cooked. They have a strong own flavour. Our favorites were the eggplant and the rice with onsen egg.The interior has some photos from the famous crossing in shibuya and a b/w one from a restaurant in Japan. There are also books. The tables are made of nice wood, but maybe a bit small. There is an open kitchen. You can watch the chef preparing your food while you wait.…Read More

Celebrities on the wall restaurant
十八座狗仔粉
2025-08-25
We stumbled upon this restaurant walking around in MTR Tsuen Wan proximity. The interior is full of celebrities taking selfies with the owner and there are a lot of those hanging on the wall. We found there were too many pictures on the wall as decor. The restaurant was Michelin recommended. The price / value is really good. Actually it’s cheaper than certain frozen dumplings from the groceries. We ordered Signature doggies noodle , Fish siu mai, Fish and meat dumpling and Crispy pork lard. The siu mai was really good, the noodle dish was good and we didn’t like the fish snd meat dumplings that much. The siu mai was really fresh and you can taste the fish inside. The fish and meat dumpling was a bit too hard and the sauce was too sweet. The portions were appropriate though. The soup of the noodle soup tasted like it was cooked for several hours and it didn’t have any MSG taste. Maybe the noodle were handmade like udon, but we do t know. The hygiene could be better. The table was a bit sticky.…Read More

Twelve Flavors (Temple Mall South)
2025-08-25
We went to the Twelve Flavours branch inside Temple Mall. It’s a Szechuan restaurant. It took us a few minutes to find the restaurant inside the huge shopping mall. We were looking for a restaurant in Won Tai sin and found a 30% discount on OpenRice. However we only found out when we were about to leave the restaurant, that the discount does not apply on set meals. In the end the discount was very low. The mapo tofu was very tasty, the tofu soft and even though it was Szechuan style it was not too spicy. We were asked before if we want it spicey. The soup was the best dish with very fresh ingredients and a distinguished taste. The beans with minced meat was also good, however the beans a bit too hard and could maybe cocked a minute longer. The Italians would describe it as al dente. The drinks were not only tasty, but also xxl size. It’s a bargain for just additional 8$ as a set meal. We really enjoyed it.…Read More

Authentic Yumcha in the mountains
Duen Kee Chinese Restaurant
2025-08-24
We found this place on Social media. It’s a bit far in the mountains sober took minibus 80, but you can also take bus 51 from MTR Tsuen Wan.It’s a Yumcha place with self service. Just take what you wish to eat. When you finished, the empty plates are calculated a bit like at sushiro without the fancy technology they use.You will find here all the classics like radish cake, siumai, hargau, rice roll, charsiu bao, spring roll and many others. The only problem is, that they might be „sold out“ for a while or for the day. As the place is quite huge on two floors you need to be quick when the announcement about new dishes come. We were lucky and we got our potion of Hargau. The taste is very authentic and fresh with mountain water. They also sell tong Choi from their own plant nearby.…Read More

Japanese Ramen in Central
Butao Ramen (Wellington Street)
2025-08-23
Butao Ramen is located in the more busy area of Central. You can pick from different soup bases and decide what add ons you want. We took „black king“, which is a black garlic base. The black garlic broth was good and strong. We wished they would have added a bit more pork as they were only two slices each in our bowl. The interior is woody and authentic. Only Japanese speaking staff would be missed to make you feel you are in Japan. The prices are a bit higher than elsewhere with 88$ base for the ramen without pod add ons. 10 years earlier it was around 60$. The drinks are additional 8-15$ each if you order the ramen. The price/value could be better.…Read More

Hidden gem in K11 Musea
Tokachi Milky
2025-08-22
Tokachi Milky is located inside the K11 Musea. We went to a restaurant there and were already in the elevator to the parking when we stopped and the door opened. The shop looked inviting so we ordered Hokkaido soft cream and a matcha drink. Tokachi Milky was founded by a famous YouTuber. Both were tasty and we would have loved to try out other things, but our stomached were already full. If you are around TSt east than check out this place.…Read More

Check out this congee place in Tsuen Wan
新宏利粥麵
2025-08-20
This place is in proximity of MTR Tsuen Wan with several restaurants around. You‘ll see from outside already that they „make a lot of dough“. We ordered the deep fried dough, fish congee, pork congee, hk milk tea and lemon tea. Try to eat the dough with the congee together. It was very tasty and fresh. We ordered for takeaway but there were also seats available at afternoon. The food was still hot after around half an hour. The decor of the restaurant is super nice. It makes you feel like you are in a different time, but Stil in Hong Kong. Hopefully those places remain open. Check it out when you are around in Tsuen Wan.…Read More

Macao desert shop in Causeway bay
Yee Shun Dairy Company
2025-08-19
Yes shun milk company is an institution in Hong Kong. Unfortunately they had to close down two other shops in Hong Kong, but this one left.We ordered hot steamed milk pudding, cold coffee pudding, egg/sausage sandwich and Macao pork chop bun.The interior is classic retro Hong Kong style. The visible fridge is full of pudding deserts and can be also seen from outside. On weekends you can expect queues waiting to get seated. The puddings are tasty and not too sweat. The sandwich and buns are fresh and accomplish the deserts. However yew shun is more of a desert place. We have been here several times and always gladly come bqck for a desert.…Read More

We were invited (A-A) by friends to this place. Its Michelin recommended and located inside the K11 Musea, which could be on your schedule if you are around TST east.We had a reservation and were seated a bit far away from Harbour view with two seats in the darkness. I asked for more light and thereafter brought a desk lamp. If you want Harbour view seats you will be asked to spend more money. The restaurant is more on the pricey side. The dishes were okay. No MSG and very authentic taste. The service was patiently refilling our tea. There is no restaurant toilet, but there is a shopping mall one nearby. We had two baby’s around and the place is children friendly. They provide children cutlery. A good sichuan style option, but there are a lot of restaurants inside k11 musea with probably price value.…Read More

Cha chaan teng in Tsuen Wan MTR proximity
Sun Kee Cafe
2025-08-17
We found this cha chaan teng restaurant on the way. We ordered stay beef macaroni only to find out that this place is actually famous for their cheese cream instant noodle. The neighbour table ordered this and it looked tasty as well. The interior tries to catch the retro cha chaan teng restaurants vibe with the neon logo and the old b/w tv. It‘s okay, but maybe a bit too hard trying. The stay beef macaroni was good. I added chili sauce to round up the taste. The meal was accompanied by cold lemon tea an cold Yuen yang served in stainless steel mugs. Both taste were strong.…Read More
