Definitely my Best Steak House in Hong Kong
Ruth's Chris Steak House
2008-07-19
Really like the place and steak here and sometimes can't resist the temptation and went there during lunch by myself.Went there yesterday night (Friday) with my wife and it was a full house as expected. We tried the stuffed mushroom as starter and there was not much to comment about.I usually have the 12/16 oz ribeye but this time we both agreed to try the ultimate one - The Porterhouse for 2 ($1,100).When the Porterhouse arrived, the waiter gave us 2 very very hot plates with butter (or steak oil?) on each of them.As the steak here is made at 1800c, I found it very different with other steak houses and from my very own opinion, this is the best steak house.…Read More

Intercontinental Steak House Sunday Brunch
THE STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill
2008-07-19
Went there 3 weeks ago.$518 fer person including all-u-can-drink red and white wine and the food quality is top dog.The decoration there is much more casual than Ruth's Chris though.I ordered 8oz ribeye as main course while my wife selected the grade 9 Australian Wagyu. The only thing I didn't like in the whole affair was that the waiter kept on telling me my ribeye really looked fine when I suggested to him I have ordered medium rare and it was not rare enough. At the end, the manager came and even he personally agreed the steak was not rare eniough and made another one for me. And this time the quality was as good as u can get.Based on the price, the place and food, it was a fulfilled Sunday afternoon. But Ruth's Chris is definitely better.…Read More

They come back!

Remember I went there many times with my parents when I was small. After seeing their advertisement in Main Pao magazine that they reopened in Happy Valley, I went there again with my parents and the experience is excellent.Shark's fin soup is their signature dish and of course all 4 of us are really satisfied with the taste and suprisingly, the price as well. It cost $298 per pot and it is almost half price when compared to other high glass restaurants. We also ordered "Piegon in 2 cooking style", where the legs and wings of the piegon are fried to perfection, and the body are sliced into pieces and cooked together with vegetables. This dish costed $160.Some other good dishes are "Mid-sized prawns baked with superior soup" $180, "Soya source Eel" $108.Although the decoration is not as elegant as before, it has a vintage feel which maps the outlook of the whole building. Will definitely go there again.…Read More

Just don't care about customer
Him Kee Hot Pot
2008-02-03
As it resides in Causeway Bay and close to my home, I went there a few times before. Not bad but cannot say really good. But yesterday's experience will certainly stop me going there anymore. First of all, I booked a table for 3 people two days earlier and I still have to wait half and hour.A waiter came and said most of the beef are not available. I therefore asked a manager (wear glasses) and he told us the beef market is very tight and we should not be surprised that no beef is available.Come on baby, this is a hotpot shop and u expect customers to be OK without beef. We decided to leave and of course the manager didn't care at all.It was his attitude that made us feel uncomfortable.I now certainly believe the report posted on 12/31 that they took out the pot and forced customers to go.…Read More
