Electric Ave
2021-07-10

Waffling Beans
2016-08-19
。。。…Read More

Daydreaming 102 floors high ~
The Lounge & Bar
2016-04-19
On a day that I decided to visit Ritz Carlton Café 103, specifically seeking to try their Matcha Afternoon Tea, unfortunately upon our arrival we were informed that the afternoon tea session for the day was coming to a close (I should have done my homework on finding out the operating hours...!).   We were suggested to try the English Afternoon Tea one floor down instead, which was been served for an additional hour or so at The Lounge & Bar. With no better ideas that come to mind, we comfortably rode the escalators down. Having visited The Lounge & Bar several times before for lunches and drinks, I am quite familiar with the high-rise sea-view showcase as well as the ambience full of energy that never disappoints. The English Afternoon Tea (set for two) was presented as 3-tier modern, contemporary. Savories and finger sandwiches placed at the top, with macarons and sweets in the middle tier, whilst the traditionally main attraction scones were found at the bottom. In terms of tea, Ritz has partnered with TWG, and there was a decent number of choices. I would say, a picture speaks louder than words, so you can make your own visual judgment. Savory section was my favourite out of these three tiers, whilst I found the scones, served with cream butter and jam, a bit dry. Unfortunately, the Macarons and Canele also did not appeal, as I found both to be “soggy”. Despite the lacklustre items from the afternoon tea set menu, it was overall still a rather enjoyable afternoon session. If you are looking to relax and lay-back in a luxurious 5-star environment, overlooking a tremendous view, and to be attended to by professional service, then Ritz is a safe choice. However, if you have high demand on the quality of tea and snack items, then I suggest for you to save your breath for your next trip to London! …Read More

Satisfying the sweet-tooth craving!
The Fat Pig
2016-03-31
It was late Monday night after dinner. Whilst walking back to Time Square's car park with my mind set on only getting home for a good rest, "someone" besides me suddenly had a crave for dessert, so we decided to give this place a try for the first time~  The dessert menu was full of mouth-watering choices but since we were still full from dinner, we went for the "lighter and more refreshing" choices of Passionfruit pavlova and Spiced Brulee w/short bread.   The Passionfruit pavlova was served with mango & passionfruit puree, mango chunks & mini sized pavlova. The sweetness from the pavlova was well-balanced by the bracing acidity of the mango and passionfruit. The combination was refreshing in taste and colour mix appealing.   Spiced brulee reminds me of Christmas ginger bread man - full of cinnamon, nutmeg, and of course ginger fragrance. The texture of brulee was soft and creamy. Can't go wrong with choosing this one!   Very satisfying desserts, with good service from the floor staff, perfect way to end a dinner night out.  …Read More

Holy Crab! Its a waffle burger!
Waffling Beans
2016-03-07
Kennedy Town has continued to change a lot since the mtr opened. Even since last time I visited the area for a drink with friends, more new restaurants and bars have emerged. This time, I decided to revisit the place for lunch, and take a stroll towards the sea, looking for Waffling Beans. Heard good things about this place so lets give it a try.Decor is cosy, yet high ceiling which unfortunately is not seen enough in HK. When we sat down, the first things that catch our attention is the huge wall with scrambled letters and words (allowing customers to write their own messages), a very nice coffee machine at the bar table, and a big Take your time logo displayed inside-out. Quite creative! For food, we were surprised with the large amount of choices on the menu, which kind of gave us a head-ache because it probably took us 10 minutes to decide what to order...   Eventually we ordered the Holy Crab Waffle burger, soft shelled crab with cod roe sauce, wrapped in two half-slices of waffle, served with some chips and coleslaw salad. The other dish we shared was the Pesto chicken, fried chicken skewers with pesto sauce. The chicken was tender and I love pesto! I think for this dish, it would be even better if they can give more pesto sauce on the chicken. Anyways I asked the waitress for some extra sauce and she quickly gave me what I wanted without hassle.Iced coffee and Ice chocolate is pretty good too here. Just right, not too sweet.…Read More
