if making reservations means nothing to you.
JEP by Involtini
2024-07-14
my booking today at JEP was cancelled after 15 mins. I honestly don’t know what business good will / hospitality means to your restaurant. As reservations mean nothing to you, I cancelled all my upcoming bookings with both JEP and Invotini. It took me, a pregnant woman, 45 mins to drive to JEP. Your staff did not even apologise once for giving my table to walk-ins. He even proclaimed “the responsibility is not on him” because he called me twice. As I was in car park and could not pick up calls when he called, I called him back one minute later - he missed my call. I will never visit any of your restaurants ever again, and I will spread the words.…Read More

Great value for the superb food
Le Monde d' Ulysse
2018-07-17
It’s been a while since I have had such a satisfying meal. Went there with my friend for lunch. We both ordered fish soup and each mushroom omelette rice and “beef belly” “beef cheek” rice. It’s impressive how they can season the simple (yet of high quality) ingredients that well. The omelette is cooked just now and the mushroom juicy and fresh. The beef is very tender too.We end the meal with creme brûlée and fruit sorbet, which are also superb! Would definitely recommend this hidden gem to friends and family, especially when their lunch menu is so reasonably priced!…Read More

Best Neighbourhood Eatery
Delicious Eatery
2017-07-23
Have been procrastinating in giving my review of this restaurant and finally gathered thoughts at this visit in T8 day.My first visit to its sister restaurant, ABC, was more than 6 months ago. I didn't know what to expect as I literally found nothing about this cozy cafe back then. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the friendliness of its owner, the neighbourhood vibes and good price. Unfortunately, ABC, didn't open at night, so I only managed to go at weekends.I was thoroughly thrilled when I learnt that abc is launching its sister restaurant, DE, that opens from dusk and dawn, right across the street. N I was not disappointed. DE maintains the high quality food and good neighbour vibes of ABC, only better I'd say. The source of food is very fresh, and of exceedingly good quality you can ask for this price range. They never use MSG or any nasty chemical but they manage to still season their food well. My personal favourite is their home made fish soup and tomato soup. As far as I can tell, they use salmon and chicken to make the fish soup, and they use this fish soup as base notes for their tomato soup. The selection of food is quite wide, from home made soup with rice, spaghetti, steak, roasted chicken, burger, pizza to waffles. I have tried most of them, and has never been disappointed. They make decent drinks too. It's not hard to tell from the name of ABC, Asian beats coffee. I am not really a big coffee lover, so I refrain from commenting. They make good green tea latte too. They use Kyoto green tea powder and they use this goodie generously. One thing they may work on is the combination of food. Personally I would like to see more combinations on the food they already had (e.g. From (i) mushroom spaghetti and (ii) chicken spaghetti to (iii) mushroom and chicken spaghetti)DE is slowly becoming my second home, and I would like to recommend this place to fellow neighbours of Ho Man Tin and visitors alike!…Read More

Hidden Gem in MK
Winey Bar & Restaurant
2016-03-27
been here twice with friends and was very pleased with the dining experience.the deep fried onion ring is a pleasant surprise. the ring is very crispy and the onion is well seasoned. I would suggest using better oil though, as the taste of oil is a bit overwhelming.the truffle mushroom risotto is just how a good risotto should be. the rice is cooked just right and the flavour is well balanced.the truffle potato mash is fantastic the taste of truffle is very distinctive and the mash is very creamy.love their mains. hv tried both the rib eye n lamb- and can tell outright that they use quality meat. the meat is very tender and juicy, (rightfully) lightly seasoned too. indeed not much seasonings is required for quality meat like these. the fries that come along are very nice too. the mains are really good for value:- it's hard to find quality meat to be served in such generous portion for around $200.the drinks are impressive too. tried the chocolate, blueberry chocolate, strawberry yogurt and mixed fruit smooth. one can tell they have used lots of natural goodies, in contrary to sweetener/ serum!would come again and again with friends!…Read More

Uoichi Cuisine

A great choice of Japanese food in Kowloon City.We ordered 甘蝦paste 海膽rice, fried earl rice n 燒尤魚. For the 蝦paste urchin rice, the sashimi r fresh, love the taste of the urchin and the combo is a pleasant surprise.  the rice v well cooked.   The fried earl rice is very nice too! 有鑊氣!n the rice 粒粒分明!燒尤魚 v well seasoned.  love the sauce very much! All the food is generous portioned and reasonably priced.what impressed us most is the service.  we felt welcomed sincerely.  they offered attentive yet non-oppressive service.  we noticed how it was a great choice for families- they prepared baby-friendly plastic utensils.  also, we noticed the staff (possibly the owner) cleaning the baby seater meticulously before offering to the families toddlers.  We hv high regards for this restaurant all in all.…Read More

heavenly bread
TOP POT BAKERY
2013-07-20
My first experience of Top Pot Bakery was in Taiwan.  I loved the bread sooo much that I packed a few in my suitcase to HK.  I am not fond of bread, not at all. So you can bet how tasty their bread is to make me go through all the troubles.    When I learnt that the Bakery is opening in HK, I was thrilled!!!  I was there the opening of the Bakery and I was not let down. The HK branch is, in general, no difference from the TW branch, in terms of the quality and variety of the food and the decor!  Enough about the background.I loooove their bread.  Their signature "Black Eye Bean Bean" is heavenly!  There is something really special about the texture of the bread and the body of the bread is extra moist, soft yet chewy.  You can taste the wheat of the flavor, and of course the mouth-watering chocolate! The molten chocolate melts from within when you micro-wave the bread (or you can melt it with the heat of your body as you put it in you mouth, i guess?)!!! A must-try!!!! It is $28 for 5.  Great for value!I also love the pillow-shaped chocolate bread.  I dont remember the name though.  It has cheese, chocolate, and coffee powder (?).  The combo of the three brings the best of one another!  And the texture of the bread is soft and moist, somewhat like "Black Eye Bean Bean".  This one is a bit more pricey.  But considering the size and quality of the bread, it is really worth the money! One thing I dont like about the HK branch is its location.  Though it is near the MTR station, Prince Edward is not convenient location.  Especially when the Bakery is more of a higher end, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay or Central seems a more sensible choice.  I look forward to seeing more of the Bakery in different parts of HK!…Read More

super nice!
一番街
2013-04-10
i have been there a couple of times. super super nice food. the taste and presentation is shockingly good. i mean, u dun typically expect much from a "boutique restaurant", but the food of 一番街 is comparably to higher-end restaurants in central.the sashimi is very fresh and yum. the sushi is v nice. ranging from $5- $18抵食又好味! the combination is very creative. love their 甘蝦帶子墨魚sushi. its heavenly! their rice is very nice too! they just have one cook but he is reli professional. n he is v nice.dun expect too much from the drinks and soup though, also the seating, as its mainly for grab-and-go.will go there more often!…Read More

V disappointing service
Fine Pasta Restaurant
2013-03-02
Its not my first time being there. The food is not bad, to be fair. Their bread is particularly nice, though the body is too moist at times (possibly cox the steam from the soup? They place the bread on top of the "cup" of soup). i dun like the soup. they change the soup from time to time. i tried 3 and liked none. the soup is too sour, and the body is not rich. the pasta... id say it passes. the pasta is well cooked. though the meat are over done. the sauce not too bad, not its not reli up to standard. still u cant reli expect too much for such price, so id say its ok. the drink... hmm nothing special, unless u r ordering the coffee. they engraved a bear on the coffee, look nice, but doesnt taste gd. u can order chocolate with an extra $12. i was disappointed with the chocolate. its not rich, doesnt taste gd, not worth adding 12 for it. on the whole, the food is not bad but considering its quite pricey in mongkok, one would expect sthg better out of it.Awful service. A few mins after we finished eating, one waiter grabbed the drink my friend is drinking to clean the table. The straw was still in his mouth n the waiter just took the cup without notice in advance/apology after. We ate quite fast actually (not sure how long we stayed in the restaurant, 40 mins max) n there were empty seats, so I reli dun understand wt the waiter was doing.Shortly afterwards, a waitress came n told us someone booked our table n we hv to go. There were empty tables, n the two girls next to us had been there before us, I was reli off when they forced us to leave.I won't go there anymore. Plenty of other places to eat in the neighborhood.…Read More

好差...
Han-yang Won Korean Restaurant
2009-01-01
