Seafood and Grill Dinner Party
Coast Seafood & Grill (Fashion Walk)
2015-08-13
A hearty, satisfying meal at Coast Seafood and Grill. We are a group of foodie with a dedicated Meal Planner to make sure we alll eat well. The recent dinning experience at Coast in Causeway Bay definitely worth a moment to document and share with fellow gourment lovers.Starters-  Jamon Iberico Ham- one of the best food on earth. The texture is smooth and rich, savory taste.  The winelist in Coast is extensive enough to pair with all dishes. Oysters- The freshly-shucked creamy osyters in their own salty juices nestling in their half shells. Gorgerous!Herbs and Sun-dried Tomato Baguette- Sizzling hot and crusty while bread inside is sponge.  It was served togther with the black truffle butter.  You simply want it again.  The clams are fresh, even sweet with no trace of fishiness. We slurped up the broth after finishing all the meaty clams.Garlin Prawns with Chilli- This one is a guaranteed dish. Buttery and frangrant King Prawns.Spinach and Mozzarella in Fillo Pastry- the layering of baked fillo is perfect while the spinach and Mozzarella blended ah-maz-ing together.Main Courses-Grilled US OP  Rye Eye Steak (30oz)The size and the presentation of the Steak totally "wow" us. The steak was lean and served on a stone plate, very impressive. The steak was  cooked to perfection and the new potato on ths side also tasted great in its natual flavor.Iberico Pork RackThe loin rank is the finest part of the Iberico pork, succulant and tender. On the sideBroken egg on French FriesMust try on the Menu.  They made French Fries like no where else.  The egg was fried the white are crispy and the yolk in melting out on the french fries. We ordered 2 potions.Dessert Time Did not get the names of the dessert as they were recommendation from the restaurant caption. But make sure you get to try the apply pastries and the banana dessert.…Read More

Chowed down 6 baskets of delicious Xialongbao!!
General Douban
2015-05-06
My beloved daughter is a little dumpling girl. With her birthday coming tomorrow, we have preluded her birthday with a dumplings dinner. General Douban was a recommendation from a chef's friend who hold high standard when it comes to gastronomy. Somehow I knew the dinner will be a yummy guaranteed. We kicked off the dinner with classic Xialongbao. Xialongbao (soup dumplings) is a mixture of broth and meat in a thin wrapper. In General Douban, they are freshly made to order, serve up steaming hot. The way to savor the dumpling is to dip it in the spoon and bite off a little bit of the wrapper, savor the meaty soup with a "Slurp". We had hit the record of ordering 6 baskets. For the reference, there was only 4 of us. The dumplings here are undoubtedly some of the best in Hong Kong and most importantly not overpriced. Do not to be missed.Clay pot wantons chicken soup 砂鍋雲吞雞. Chicken and wontons are just so perfect together. Taste of home! A comforting and warming chicken soup with Chinese winter cabbage and wantons. The stock base is made with boned chicken and Jinhua ham (Chinese dry-cured ham). Things taste better when cooked in clay. A good chicken (half) is served on the table along with the soup, Nothing over cooked, well-balanced.Snow cabbage, shredded pork and noodles soup. Major comfort food from my childhood. The noodles is slippery, tender and tasty in enriched broth. Shredded pork, bean sprout and snow cabbage were in perfect harmony.Pork steam dumpling- wrapping was just right thickness. Nice broth as you bite into the steaming dumplingsShanghai stir fry sticky rice cake (Nian gao). Rice cake stir fried with Chinese veggi and pork, seasoned nicely in soy sauce. To round up the dinner is the Chinese cabbage with fried garlic cloves and Jianhua ham. A simple and yet tasteful dish. Finally, it was the surprised birthday cake after the dinner brought up by the attentive and lovely staff. We had a delightful and delicious celebration dinner again!Overall, everything was tasty and came out in a timely manner! We will be back! …Read More

Mind Bloggling Teppanyaki Cuisine found in APM
E-pai, teppan-yakitori
2015-01-28
Inspired by my Chef/foodie friend, we drove from Hong Kong Island to APM in Kwun Tong for dinner.  We had our happy tummies filled with heavenly teppanyaki cuisine at teppan-yakitori 一杯鐵板燒居酒屋.As soon as we arrived at the restaurant, I was totally taken by the interiors and the very Japanese ambiance.  It was designed with such great details which leave me a full experience definitely. We were pleasantly served by the restaurant manager with subtle recommendations for us. Their staff are friendly, attentive and in good spirit! Our dinner started off with the Toro sashimi- the most fatty cut of the Tuna, it costs 450 HKD (but that's the most expensive dishes in the menu already). I would say one of the most well spent 450 HKD. We were both speechless for a moment - savoring the buttery taste that simply melted in our mouths. The 10 pieces of Sushi was impeccably displayed. The rice was very well portioned , and the taste was well seasoned with vinegar - don't know the secret behind... It went perfect with the fresh sashimi. The seared squid- incredibly simple dish, yet it takes a very experienced chef to master it because of the high water content in the squid itself. One bite, just one bite, has already made me feel like I was back to the beach in Thailand:) Again, it was a great company with Sake.Prawns Teppanyaki was very succulent- highlighted by few lime drops .Jumbo Scallop and Cod Fish Teppanyaki- the jumbo scallops were griddled with Sake, cooked perfectly and the juice was packed with flavor. Cod fish is always the likely choice- the outer side layer of the fish was crispy while the inner part of the fish was moisted and juicy.Beef Fillet Teppanyaki- we ordered medium rare, the meat was tender with some veggi in the rolls to enhance the meaty sensations牛肉茶漬飯- I guess a Teppanyaki meal is just not completed without the fried rice or 漬飯. A perfect ending of the wonderful dinner.Roasted Gingko nuts is another must-try. It serves as a great bite between dishes and snacks for chit-chatting. Plus, it has a lot of health-benefits. Just make sure you don't go overboard on it:)There was no yummy leftover...... …Read More

A delightful and delicious birthday party
Mon Café
2014-05-19
I was introduced to Mon Cafe by a friend. I felt home home just upon the first entering of the cafe. The ambiance is so warm, giving a sense of belongings. I have been there a couple of times with different friends, they all highly appreciate Mon Cafe and the quality of food! This year, I decided to host my daughter's birthday party at Mon Cafe. The cafe was full on the date that we have first picked and we actually had to wait 2 weeks to secure a time slot. Considering the convenient location, the yummy food and the extraordinary ambiance of the cafe, we decided to wait. It was a good choice that we have waited - the party was the best out of 6 years.Monique (the owner), was very thoughtful, she had rearranged the setting in the cafe to accommodate all the guests (we had roughly 25 to 30 people) plus the entertainer. Monique prepared a snack platter and soft drinks for the early arrival guests to enjoy. At the same time, the team was very busy in the kitchen to prepare the food for us so we could enjoy fresh and hot food during the whole party. We had fruits and eggs salad, sausage platter, chicken burgers, french fries - and the highlight - chicken wings, some of the best I have ever tried. Icing on the cake was the super delicious dessert and the cupcakes tower.Monique was so kind and let the kids have a workshop time in decorating their own cookies. Both the kids and the parents loved this section as it was very interactive.Needless to say, all the parents at the party and my friends on social media started to ask me where this hidden gem is and how to book. I am sure Mon Cafe will be more and more busy.Well done! Thank you once again for hosting us and we have very good memories.…Read More

Istanbul Turkish Kebabs and Grills
2013-11-18
Me and my friend was scrolling down from Causeway Bay trying to find a place to eat. We passed by Istanbul Turkish Grills and was stopped by the very prominent menu they showcase. Out of curiosity, we went in for a try.  We ordered a Istanbul salad with chicken dooner, the food was served quickly.  The salad was very fresh, I especially love the cheese.  the dish goes really well with the sauces the restaurant proviede.  Then we have ordered the Turkish beef Pizza.  the meet is so tender and good quality, while the crust is so right in thinness. The apple ice tea is another great plus!!!Overall, we were amazingly surprised by the Turkish food at a very reasonable price and the warm ambience of the place.  The boss of the place is very welcoming person.I will definetely recommend this pleasant place to my friends!…Read More

Green River Restaurant
2012-11-01
I came to 翠河 this afternoon in North Point, becos there is not much choice of food.I ordered a 蒸鹹蛋肉餅飯, the 肉餅 was as thin as a piece of paper and with a tiny little bit of 鹹蛋. The boss of this restaurant obviously wants to give as little as possible to the customers to maximize his or her benefit. This is a horrible to treat the customers.I finally asked the waitress to take away my 蒸鹹蛋肉餅飯 and I just paid for for lemon tea.…Read More

有驚喜
King's Hotpot
2012-07-06
Since my Chinese typing is slow. Food were super fresh, delicious and prices are very fair. I definitely recommend this place. Deco is elegant, both hall or VIP room.…Read More
